this is obviously a belated comment...but couldn't we be thrilled that david is using his tremendous gift for God and HIS glory rather than focusing on his appearance or what note he hits? Possibly, he's discovered who he was created to be and has the courage to be that person...may we all be so fortunate! ;)

I have been following gospel music all my life (I'm 56) and David is without a doubt one of the most dynamic tenors EVER to step up to the mic; and it just absolutely astounds me that people even devote one ounce of energy worrying and fretting about the length or style of someones hair. Not that it matters what any of use thinks about someone's hair, David Phelps' or Jesus', but I believe it was customary that men wore there hair cut short when Jesus walked the earth and women did not cut their hair and kept their heads covered only in God's temple.

my two cents worth about hair, Ive read the bible through several times and Ive never read that Jesus had long hair. I dont believe he did ,there have been different styles through the years ,in the period of time when Jesus was on earth the style was short . Maybe it's not an outright sin but it could be a "weight". (Something unnecessary that could trip up some lost souls who expect Christians to be AND LOOK a certain part) We are to be about lost souls for Christ & careful about things that could hurt the chances of them accepting Him & just our testimony in general. @troybailey actually 1 Corinthians is Paul speaking to the church of Corinth. Without taken verses out of context it is best to understand his stance in regard to the whole letter to Corinth. The point he makes is about the division and traditions held, while discrediting the freedom and grace extended. See Judges 13:5. Who else was considered a Nazarite, or Nazarene? Ahh yes....

When I see Christian men singers start concentrating on their appearance a lot (growing their hair out and streaking it, wearing chains, etc.) it is nothing overt but just makes me wonder if the compliments are going to their head a bit. I don't know his heart, it may be completely pure before God, but we as human beings make observations by the senses God gave us and his appearance changes makes me wonder if he is still more about the message or his image. Great post though.

he still has a deep love for God and constantly sends out the message that God loves everyone. I know you aren't trying to be rude, i'm just sick of people talking about David (and guy's) HAIR. It's just HAIR. We as humans, care about our apperence a little bit. I think he just lost weight and changed his hair to feel better about himself, nothin more. It doesn't mean he has fallen from God.

David has an amazing GIFT from God. I've been following his career for years. My wife and I saw him locally a couple years ago and he was great. I think I relate & feel the message of the songs of the David Phelps of this video more than how he now is. Then he was an ordinary guy with an amazing God-given GIFT which,granted he had honed and polished.
