Its skill system is flawed, you are thoroughly restricted by having a finite number of skill points you can use, the combat's incredibly stiff, performance in graphics is terrible, you get NO instructions, and the list goes on.
I wanted to love this game, but I didn't meet me half-way.
@littleNorwegians That problem you just mentioned. You're not supposed to play this alone or that sort of thing is doomed to happen. This is the most guild based MMORPG that I've ever seen. You can't just jump into the game, some veteran player has to guide you or at least you have to discover "how to" with a friend. It's annoying at first, but only because it's not noob friendly.

We did not jump into this, we tried, and we tried, we talked on the forums and the more we dug the closer we got to the rotten core. You can be "hardcore", I suppose, but I don't see the reason. I love the concept of this SO much. Very much. But its execution is flawed in so many ways.

@littleNorwegians I see, well, your problem goes a little deeper, with the genre. I don't think they hit the nail in Mortal too, but I could overlook their problems after the noob phase. Give Darkfall a try, Mortal copyed the concept of Darkfall, maybe you'll like this one a little more. Another tip is to look for Action-MMORPGS, like PSU or PSO2 (SEGA Games). I hope I could help.
Ps: Check video "What is Darkfall Online?", they used almost the same words used to describe Mortal, it's funny :P
@littleNorwegians I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2 too, looks awesome, but the gameplay still looks very WoW based. I'm really, really waiting for actionrpgs, take a look at the gameplay of Blades n'souls and Phantasy Star Online 2. Complexity of MMO with action game mechanics, that's the future! :D
Ps: But I really wished they make this kind of game with Mortal and Darkfall freedom concepts. The cocept is just perfect. I wouldn't have to buy another game for the rest of my life :(
I was about to try the trial out until I checked out all the youtube videos of the hacks like "artificial advantage". Now I'm not going to waste my time with it.
It's similar to Oblivion in some ways, but this game is just a big laggcluster, give it another year or so before buying! It has alot of buggs, glitches, and the servers laggs ALOT! Customer support is also very bad, but as i wrote earlier, give it a year more or less.
@Uberslime yap, after you buy a game there is NO subscription unlike mortal where you pay like what, 14e every month for buged , laging, player empty piece of crap.. thats make it pretty much free for me :) if it dosnt work for you im fine with that :) plus i have feeling that guild wars 2 would be superior in quality and full of players. peace.

@TheDaki75 ahh, they fixed desinc so you cant hit players with sword from distance anymore so PVP is fixed and its great now. also they must fixed balance in PVP so there are many playing styles viable. fixed magery must be awesome, i would love to see new working PVE , full caves of creatures breath taking boss fights. fixed patcher must brought tons of new players also.. and new interface must rule. ok lets not count unstable server and tons of bugs. all this only for 14e a month! sweet!
@abradras i totally agree with you on Guild Wars 2. Its going to be fucking epic! Arena.net has done such an amazing job with keeping GW1 up to date with the constant balancing of skills in PvE and PvP, weekly events, AND great customer support. I cant recall playing any mmo thats come remotely close to what ive experienced with GW1!
..and one MMORPG to rule them all :P yap GW2 looks very promising, but i dont wanna get to hipped, even its very hard ..those thematic "weeks" are weakening my inner peace for sure :) hah, lets hope its worth to wait and we will get promised "blast" . i think whole project is on very good way.

this is arguably the most epic trailer for a game ever made... this game looks really good, the atmosphere and the gameplay looks awsome, i will play this game as soon as they alow trial accounts

@beebogroll The player base is low before they've had a ton of problems with the patching system and the servers, plus a load of bugs that weren't straightened out before the official launch. But bear in mind that Star Vault is a new company, who (I think) have never made a game before and are trying to get into a very difficult genre (mmorpgs), using a concept that hasn't been seen since UO.
It takes a lot of guts to try something like that. Give it time and things will get better.
@beebogroll Ok let me rephrase that; A concept that hasn't been implemented since UO (and runescape of course). Those are the only 2 games that have been able to do a proper fantasy sandbox mmorpg, along with EvE online but that's Sci-Fi. Sandbox games usually don't last longer than a year against the more common mmorpgs but I really hope that Mortal Online can do what others couldn't.
@gmanleader0 if you think that all that isn't in the game your right BUT they are putting it in. there was an epic patch and there were heaps more aspects put into the game and more detail and if you play it for long enough it is addictive

Such a poor game, should still be in Alpha. There are so many accounts of people doing a charge-back to SV, as it really is (maybe was, set itself up to fail) garbage and riddled with bugs and easily exploitable situations.
@casacerian yes and since there are so many players there are more bug reports and more bug reports means more bug fixes it is a work in progress and will be a lot better after the bugs are fixed
@K4inan This game is probably most bugged MMO to date, and Ive played almost every P2P and most of F2P games.. The support sucks, they only have two real hired GMs, rest are volunteers who help you only when they are bothered (you can be stuck for a day without help), PvE is non existent, game is full of exploiters and bugs... It does have a decent sky thou.
P.S. Textures you see in trailer are not ingame either.

game sucks utter balls, has absolutely nothing to do with this trailer. This is one of the rare cases where the devs actually implemented some features that made the game look bad while it was looking great at 1st.
The game currently is bugged, with most features turned off, and there is nothing to do then run around and gank, or craft. No PvE rewards, territory control, or any other tools a sandbox should have.
@RamboBlades most features are back on, the major bugs are squashed, and you can easily 'control territory' if you have the players to control it. There's just no blinking text / artificial pat on the back, which some people seem to expect from sandboxes for whatever reason.
@prkikaz "A pat one the back" is a sad and illusive excuse for giving developers reasons to slack. Take EVE, they got REAL territory control there, where you actually take over the system, and can earn money by that, you really have a control there. That's maybe why people expect some tools here too.
fuck this game, im tired of waiting for something that will suck.....darkfall failed and this will fail as well....on the good side there are a lot of god dam asian mmo that just takes ideas from wow comming next year :D
the game is such a letdown.. its plain ugly (looks like gothic 3 but with bugs everywhere) character creation is just ridiculous.. 10hairstiles same for women as for men.. even the HUD looks like its been made in 1995.. srry guys but this game is SHIT.. waste of my 5.5hour download time..

the game does not suck. for those who manage to download it it is a good experience, and will be even better when more and more content is added. It is quite punishing and unfriendly towards new players, you are thrown in at the deep end, but don't let it scare you off, after a short time you can make good progress.
As most of the content is run by the players, id recommend joining a guild as at release there will be politics and this will lead to wars and sieges, and, primarily, great fun.
@Joeblob2 a bit of time ago i dont know how many months i had problems with this. My computer is not the best and when finally downloading and problem soloving etc basically forcing it to run. I clicked it and after about 20 minutes the menu ( mainscreeen ) came up. Hell was i happy until the mouse was so laggy i couldent click never mind see where i was pointing. And this will be a beast of a game. If only i could play :(

I hate this game... I also wasted money on it my husband & I pre-ordered it before the open BETA because of how Star vault portrayed the game but it was all a lead on. Starvault cusomter service is a complete joke if you seek them looking for help you seek in vain. We wasted $120 on a game that is broken and unplayable and I heard also that the game was going to be launched broken and unpolished, this company doesn't care about its customers only getting their money.

I feel MMORPGs as a genre have yet to evolve anywhere near its potential.
Currently just looking forward to Guild Wars 2 seeing how they go out of their way to almost mock all the things that stagnate the genre.
It's been nice talking.

Ive been semi/fully active since release and i havent noticed a single hacker. hackers DO get banned. russian has been banned for exploits/hacks and even though he got around them multiple times the gms kept banning him. they do their job.

@beebogroll why are you telling this have you played the game? i heard there are lots of bugs and stuff but these things are fixable, just look at the sky and the terrain in this video, they get you in the atmosphere of a fantasy rpg game all game should be like this, and having a torch if you want to see in the dark this is awsome

@ThrashOrc81 erm.. i don't know if you've noticed, but the game actually doesn't have that good of an atmosphere. why? because hackers are let loose, nobody bans them. there's nearly no mobs in the game; its barren. what use is a great looking game without anything to do? to run around and do nothing? this trailer is everything that the game is not.

@Joeblob2 erm.. look around on youtube. A LOT of the videos are of hackers. and considering the game is dead already before it even started, and the world is basically empty; i wasnt stupid enough to buy the game in the first place. it flopped worse than darkfall.. and thats saying something!

@beebogroll The player base is low before they've had a ton of problems with the patching system and the servers, plus a load of bugs that weren't straightened out before the official launch. But bear in mind that Star Vault is a new company, who (I think) have never made a game before and are trying to get into a very difficult genre (mmorpgs), using a concept that hasn't been seen since UO.
It takes a lot of guts to try something like that. Give it time and things will get better.

@beebogroll Ok let me rephrase that; A concept that hasn't been implemented since UO (and runescape of course). Those are the only 2 games that have been able to do a proper fantasy sandbox mmorpg, along with EvE online but that's Sci-Fi. Sandbox games usually don't last longer than a year against the more common mmorpgs but I really hope that Mortal Online can do what others couldn't.

Everything you see in this video is concept work.
Such a poor game, should still be in Alpha. There are so many accounts of people doing a charge-back to SV, as it really is (maybe was, set itself up to fail) garbage and riddled with bugs and easily exploitable situations.

@K4inan This game is probably most bugged MMO to date, and Ive played almost every P2P and most of F2P games.. The support sucks, they only have two real hired GMs, rest are volunteers who help you only when they are bothered (you can be stuck for a day without help), PvE is non existent, game is full of exploiters and bugs... It does have a decent sky thou.
P.S. Textures you see in trailer are not ingame either.

The game currently is bugged, with most features turned off, and there is nothing to do then run around and gank, or craft. No PvE rewards, territory control, or any other tools a sandbox should have.

@RamboBlades most features are back on, the major bugs are squashed, and you can easily 'control territory' if you have the players to control it. There's just no blinking text / artificial pat on the back, which some people seem to expect from sandboxes for whatever reason.

Take EVE, they got REAL territory control there, where you actually take over the system, and can earn money by that, you really have a control there. That's maybe why people expect some tools here too.

nothing to do with throlling and beta? it looks like foking early stage alpha and the maker are aware of it.. ive tried to play the beta and in general i'm very optimistic if it comes to new games.. people that say that it only need a little polishing are blind.. it needs a whole rewrite.. the game will be 14eu a month so it has to compete with big games like WOW and AION and so on.. if nothing will drastically change in the game-design it will FAIL! mark my words on this one IT WILL FAIL!

the game does not suck. for those who manage to download it it is a good experience, and will be even better when more and more content is added. It is quite punishing and unfriendly towards new players, you are thrown in at the deep end, but don't let it scare you off, after a short time you can make good progress.
As most of the content is run by the players, id recommend joining a guild as at release there will be politics and this will lead to wars and sieges, and, primarily, great fun.

@Joeblob2 a bit of time ago i dont know how many months i had problems with this. My computer is not the best and when finally downloading and problem soloving etc basically forcing it to run. I clicked it and after about 20 minutes the menu ( mainscreeen ) came up. Hell was i happy until the mouse was so laggy i couldent click never mind see where i was pointing. And this will be a beast of a game. If only i could play :(

I hate this game... I also wasted money on it my husband & I pre-ordered it before the open BETA because of how Star vault portrayed the game but it was all a lead on. Starvault cusomter service is a complete joke if you seek them looking for help you seek in vain. We wasted $120 on a game that is broken and unplayable and I heard also that the game was going to be launched broken and unpolished, this company doesn't care about its customers only getting their money.
