  • I'm so in love with Rudy and never realized until looking at all these great YouTube clips how many "rivals" I have for his affection, ha!

You know how kids, when they're concentrating on a project, do this thing with their lips? Watch Rudy's lips as he's helping Agnes put on the rouge , He's so adorable!

  • Wow! Thanx so much Debbie. That was a great treat!!! Loved it . :-))

  • @valentinolover70 Np. ;)

  • Amazing footage here! Thanks for posting it.

I think that you put the perfect music to it! Thanks.

  • @PlayIt4MeAgainSam Thanks hun. ;)

  • I love this behind the scenes look - having seen the Shiek over and over I am a real fan. I love the bit where he knocks on the tent pole and then runs away when the Director comes as if to say ' sorry boss I'll get quickly back to work' He definitely looks like he would have been fun to be around - wow all these qualities he had - I don't think I will ever find a man today who could match up to Rudy! I'm not sure my obsession is gonna help me find a man do you lol

  • @Lovingsundays Lol, i know i get obsessed at times too. It's not helping me, but it's fun to fantasize about Rudy. ;)

  • He looks like he was a lot of fun to be around, very personable. :-)

  • I think so too.

  • He must of had a really cute accent! sigh.......

  • He fascinates me too just a bit.

  • @80stimeagain Oh my God! I faint right here! Oh Rudy my Rudy I just can't stop to say your name, my only Rudolph Valentino, I envy Agnes , I Would not resist a second to jump over him and give him so much kisses ^O^ Sorry but is true and don't blame me...I just can't resist Rudy ^o^ and sorry again but my english is bad

  • @RomanticMaiden Your English is fine. Yes, i would like to be that close to Rudy. ;)

  • @80stimeagain What??? on my dead body, remember Rudy is all mine don't forget that ;), or I challenge to a duel and better prepare yourself because you lose ha-ha-ha ^o^, I see you in the ring Debbie, take care ^o^

  • @RomanticMaiden Haha!!! It's nice to know that you feel i am a threat to you. I am very flattered. :)) You can have Rudy, but I challenge you to a duel anyway. Wait, it's no challenge my friend because you already lost!!! ;)) Pleasant dreams.

  • @80stimeagain you always makes me angry you are jealous because you know in the bottom of your mind that rudy is all mine n_n and yes I will have pleasent dreams with my rudy of course like always n_n, take care

  • @RomanticMaiden Are you still here? Do i still bug you and make you angry? I wonder why. Lol. ;)) You are very competitive with me even after i let you have Rudy!!! Well, what can i say. byeeeee ;))) Take care sweetie. ;)

  • @80stimeagain Yes I'm still wake, I finish to put the subtitle to the song of my video ^o^ I don't know how but I put it ^o^, goodnight debbieeeeeeee ^o^

  • @RomanticMaiden the word was "awake" I made a mistake with that word I apologize, now for real good night debbie ^o^

  • Thanks. I'm still trying to figure Rudy out, but i would have to meet him to even begin to start to know him. ;)

  • I feel the same way. Since he never found the right woman, I like to think I might be that lucky woman. :)

The second title card reads "George Melford whose genius for direction is responsible for the success of 'The Sheik'"?

I hope they were joking. Please, give the credit to Rudy--his smoldering presence and acting made that movie. IMO, Melford should have offered more direction to his actors, especially in controlling some of Rudy's and AA's facial expressions.

  • The director made Rudy overact in some scenes. That is not Rudy's fault, but the director. Also, i don't know how well they got along. But, despite Rudy's overacting, the Sheik is what made Rudy a star.

  • I'm like you. I would like to be Rudy's lucky woman. But, i doubt that would ever happen.

  • Pt. 2: What I can't get over is why did GM have Rudy wear that makeup that makes Rudy's face look so pale and almost hides his beautiful face? You can notice in many scenes that Rudy's hands are rather dark and in a few background pics we see Rudy is quite olive skinned. In "Son of the Sheik" Rudy and AA re enact the abduction scene from "The Sheik" and Rudy doesn't wear that ghostly make up. He looks so natural.

Despite all this no one but Rudy could have been The Sheik..

  • Yes, I agree completely, it wasn't Rudy's fault. I blame this director for many things. I never thought of the possibility that Rudy and GM didn't get along. Did you see how close and chumy Rudy and AA were in 1:15-1:18? Rudy seems to get along better with AA than the director. Did you notice how Rudy immediately got up and ran off to work when GM broke them up? I don't think AA was too happy. I know I'd be a bit riled if Rudy had to suddently leave me because of some director.

  • I think Rex Ingram was worse though. Rudy and Rex didn't get along either. But, George Melford directed Rudy in Moran of the Lady Letty also.

  • I didn't know that about GM. Rudy seems to have gotten better direction in MOLL. Was Rex Ingram married to Mae Murray? Murray and Rudy were friends and had known each other from their NY days. She asked for Rudy as her leading man in "A Delicious Little Devil." Rudy and the director of "Delicious Little Devil", who was Murray's husband at the time, didn't get along at all. During breaks in filming, Rudy danced frequently with Murray, which made her husband VERY jealous and angry.

  • Rudy the delicious little devil!! :)

  • Rex Ingram was married to Alice Terry at the time. But, Terry and Rudy had already known each other before. Rudy didn't like Rex's direction, and they would argue. Rudy wanted better scenes. Rudy acted with Terry in Four Horsemen and Conquering Power.

  • Thank you for the info. :) Way to go Rudy! Good for Rudy for standing up to the directors and wanting better for himself!!!

  • @80stimeagain Alice Terry and Rex Ingram were the only people who had bad things to say about Rudy after his death. Alice's comment was especially harsh: she said something along the lines of this: the biggest thing Rudy ever did for his career was to die. Other than people who are interested in silent films or Rudy, who talks about Terry or Ingram nowadays? If you mention Rudy's name, people do know he was a famous actor and romatic leading man, even if they have never seen his films.

  • @msrudyfan That's why i don't really like Ingram and Terry. I do like the Four Horsemen, but just because of Rudy. That's all.

  • To make myself feel better, I am going to watch "The Sheik" tonight and hopefully dream about Rudy! :)

  • If i had thought Rudy had found true love in this life, i don't think i would be as obsessed with him. I might like him, but in a more detached way. But, since i feel Rudy didn't find or choose the right women, it has made me more interested in him.

  • You and me both! :) P.S. I LOVE all your videos. They are such a wonderful tribute to such a tremendous man.

  • Thanks. ;) I don't know why i make these videos really, but I just enjoy watching Rudy. He gives me romance in my life even though it's not real. I can fantasize. I don't know Rudy, but i find something irresistable about him right now.

  • I heard, at the time, AA may have been romantically involved with Jessy Latsky (sp?), the founder of Paramount and Latsky's Famous Players. If AA wasn't married then, she should have dumped Latsky (or whoever) and jumped at the chance to wrap herself around Rudy.

Rudy may have actually been happier with AA than Lugnut/Rambova (the witch with a capital "B"). GRRRRRRRRRR!!! I can't stand that woman!!!!

  • I don't know much about Agnes, and i'm not sure i would want to see them together since i am so obsessed with Rudy now. lol. But, I'm not a fan of Natacha. I am jealous of her because i know Rudy had feelings for her. But, Natacha seemed to want complete freedom and control which is not suited to family life which is what Rudy wanted. Maybe they would make good friends, but not lovers.

  • Yes, I'm also somewhat jealous of the women, because I adore and love Rudy, but some may have brought him happiness. I am, however, especially jealous of NR for what she did to Rudy. Rudy gave NR his heart; he was completely devoted to her and asked nothing in return except to be loved and to have a family. She was completely selfish, used him and threw him away when he no longer served her interests.

  • Pt. 2: NR was very selfish and when she could no longer control Rudy and his career, she cheated on him while they were still married. I am so SO sad for Rudy she broke his heart, but I am so SO happy he finally rid himself of her.

  • I'm not sure if Natacha did cheat on Rudy, but who knows the personal life of others. However, they simply were not compatible. It was bound not to work out.

  • Thank you for this video! I never saw these behind the scenes pics and video till now. Rudy is so playful, sweet, and adorable. How did AA keep from falling in love with him? Oh how I would have loved for him to put lipstick on me like he does on AA--with his finger over her lips!! I'd want to nip his fingers as well.

Taking his time to do something right, I absolutely believe it, because I think that's what also made him The Great Lover--he liked to take his time.

  • I think Agnes was married, but still, how could she not get turned on. Rudy is so dam sexy and fine. I can barely stand it sometimes.

  • I know I couldn't help getting turned on by him! :) He's so sweetly flirtatious with the ladies, how could a girl resist?!?! I'd encourage him in every way.

  • He is adorable!

  • Fascinating footage, thanks so much for sharing.

  • You're welcom. :)

  • Great video Debbie!!

    Thanks for posting!! :-))

  • Thank you. :)

  • This is absolutely fascinating. I had no idea that this movie had "behind the scenes" footage. It's absolutely charming when you see him apply lipstick to Ayres and when he asks for a retake it gives the definite impression this was a "thinking man's actor" wanting to get better at his craft. Thankyou for posting this as it gives real insight to his character.

  • Yes, Rudy didn't like rushing through scenes. He liked taking his time, and doing a scene in a way he felt would work well. So, you are right. :)

  • Just an update Debbie, no news on new behind the scenes footage?

  • No, not yet. I don't really have enough to make a video.

  • Hey Debbie, you wouldn't possibly have behind the scenes footage of The Son of the Sheik? It would be great to see those as well.

  • No. That would be interesting to see though.

  • Debbie, Thank you for posting it again. It is one of my favorites.

  • Glad u like it. ;)

  • Oh what a wonderful video! I never have seen this!!!! LOL

Thank you very much for sharing, dear Debbie*****

    Hugs

    Eva :)

  • Eva thanks. ;)

  • You are welcome!

  • how do you find this stuff?????

    5stars!

  • Haha! I wonder that myself. ;)
