Just don't rush into it! I'm new into agility as well. I only have about a year and half of experience but honestly take your time in training, don't rush to want to finish everything. you might skip an important foundation technique and find yourself spending months retraining that specific error.... trust me i did that with my pup (took forever) Just enjoy the sport, its the best thing ever!!
@agilityjack44 Thanks,I am going to go quite slow because my Labrador is 7 years old,so if I rush anything it might be to much for her because she has heartworms. :( So I know my Lab will take longer while most likely the Weimaraner will learn quicker. I probably won't do anyting serious until I'm older. I just want to enter a few competitions.
i might enter my GSD in the junoir comps some day i am 12 and i have told her everything in agility we are gonna be working on the weaves, tire jump and see saw and that will be her :D
I would like to find out hoe to actually get started on this! i would love to train my little pomchi to do some agility for fun and to stay active. How do you go about starting off???
@maharley27 It`s great fun!! first start out by building a jump and 6 weave poles. train her/him to do it however you can!! your pup would probably be in the 8" category!
Not any agility trial is opened to mutts. Most are opened to mutts. Not AKC agility trials. AKC is just one of those strict jerky people. But they make really good courses.
hello my friend just participated in the crufts and she has a labradoodle. same with there obedience i dont have any friends that work with hybrids in that but i know they are accepted because i went to a trail. and flyball, dont even get me stared on how many mutts are on ashleys team dazzle.
Border collies are the best! Fast, flexible, tireless and with a very quick brain. I don't have any collies myself - I don't think I'd have the energy to keep up with them! My little English cocker does agility and he is very quick with great acceleration. Cockers are smart and bouncy and are good jumpers so make good agility dogs. Nothing like a border collie though!

dogs dont have to be pure bred to do agility you have to sign up to the activitie register if your dogs not kc
roxieschihuahuas 2 years ago
Did the dogs are forced to be pure breed in these shows?
DarkeKyra 2 years ago
I don't know, as far as I know, a dog doesn't need to be purebred to compete in agility, but I am not sure.
pesuhiir 2 years ago
@DarkeKyra the best type of agility dogs are mutts, any agility trial is open to mutts

you kidding me! ACK agility, flyball, and obedience is open to ANY kind of dog. ANY mutts and all.
KIBAfang90 1 year ago
AKC isnt open to those though. American Kennel Club is very strict about that. But they might be making acceptions.

I know crufts allows mixed breeds, but AKC, American Kennel Club, doesnt accept mixed breeds.

you know what i was thin king only of crufts. hahahha

@hickchick204934 AKC is now open to Mix Breeds starting this month, this is the first time though.

It's pretty cute, but I think the Papillon, 'Just a Puzzle', is the cutest dog I've ever seen. Watch him try to stop at the end of the seesaw at 0.17

how cute is the red border at 3.39 creeping forward when he thinks no-one is watching :)
