I was never a Batman fan at any point in my childhood. The only Batman movie I ever watched was Batman and Robin. However today there was a sale at my local Blockbuster, DVD's for $3 and I managed to find The Dark Knight in that pile along with V for Vendetta and Rango. Not only did I really enjoy this film but this movie makes me want to learn more about the Batman universe. I doubt I will become a big fan of the Batman series, but if The Dark Knight Rises is anything like this sign me up.
The minor problem I had with Batman Begins is that Batman wasn’t a detective in that movie. In The dark knight we did see his detective side however he didn’t use fear against the criminals like he did in Batman begins. He could have done it in two scenes all the other scenes are tricky, Batman Begins the Video game did a better job using fear than the movie.
Batman's voice has been criticized for being artificial-sounding and unnaturally gravelly. In the promotions for Batman Begins, the cowl is revealed to have a microphone/speaker that alters and amplifies Bruce Wayne's voice to disguise his identity and increase intimidation

I hate how everyone keeps complaining about Batman's voice. He sounds more intimidating with it and people overexaggerate. Sure, at times it could get very muffled, but only in the scene where Batman was out of breath towards the end.

@xFIRERUSHx My bad about Iron Man and forgetting Casino Royale. I guess I could credit Royale as being the first great reboot cause that came out in '06.
It's easy to call this movie a Better Than Sex, because it plays like a really good one night stand. There's foreplay, there's the in-and-out, there's a break here and there to build the tension... And then you get to the climax, the last scene with Batman and The Joker, and even though that's the point of the date where you'd normally call a cab and split up, you stick around and cuddle anyway, because you just don't want the experience to end. And it winds up being worth it.
This is just a suggestion. spill, but I think you should review older movies that came out 10+ years ago, review your all time favorites, and possibly do "Best of the Decade" stuff.
if people think this film is overrated.......FUCK OFF somewhere else, this is a review not a rant and people who don't like this movie must not know what Batman is truly about. He's much deeper then that fanservice crap they demand in every superhero film.

This movie was as close to perfection as a Batman film will likely ever get. A 1/2 hour trim (the two boat sub plot dragged on too long for me), but otherwise absolutely exceptional.

Batman Begin's story is more interesting but the performances were weaker than they were in The Dark Knight. there is something quite addicting about the second movie that offers pleasant multiple viewings, the strength of the character studies and their shifts toward darkness or toward light.

Yes, as many people have mentioned, the rushed Two-Face story is my only problem with this otherwise perfect movie. Harvey Dent's story in this movie should have ended with us seeing him in the hospital with only the good side of his face showing. Given the depth of the Joker and corruption story line, an equally powerful ending with Batman on the run could easily have been written that didn't require Harvey Dent's death--then Two-Face could have a proper story in a future Batman film.
@radioclash81 I diasagree, I thought Harvey had a satisfying story arc. He'd be just another villain in a sequel, there's no more story to tell after the Joker pushes him to the edge. Bane needs his own movie much more than Two-Face anyway.
@radioclash81 The movie is not "else perfect". I love the movie - but man, I can nitpick it if you wanna know problems it has. Even if we exclude how they changed stuff from the source material, we still got stuff. Like, how the hell could the Joker take more than 5-6 hard punches in the head by the well-trained Batman; without passing out? Or what about in the end, when Batman in the less hard outfit gets attacked by pitbulls AND a crowbar; yet, he stands up later like nothing happened?
@kurvos Perhaps "perfect" was a bit much--"excellent" would have been more appropriate. Anyway, the scene that I recall sort of cringing at was when Batman dove out the high-rise window to save Rachel and then crashed on the car below. I think they tried to indicate that Batman broke the fall some by opening his cape, but I don't think there's any way they could have realistically survived that fall--especially completely uninjured.
@radioclash81 Yeah, I couldn't let that scene slide either. He falls at least 100 meters or so; yet, he's completely fine when he lands. I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that Nolan is SO proud his Batman movies are SO "realistic". Like I said, I still love the movie. But... it's a bit inconsistent.

His voice was worse in this film. In Begins, it was usually just a rougher version of his normal voice. It wasn't annoying, and it still served the purpose it was supposed to.
In this film, it was much more growly, and he went a little crazy with it. (Come on, why does he talk to Lucius with it? The guy knows who he is).
Did anyone else notice that Harvey Dent, before he became two-face, one half of his face was almost always shadowed. And when you first see him (still not two-face) you only see one half of his face?

And take my word for it christian bale was a great great great great actor in that.

@poopamultimatepoopy Aye, its an amazing film. Probably one of the most depressing movies ever but absolutely brilliant nonetheless. Darren Aronofsky who directed Requiem also directed The Wrestler and Black Swan, both amazing films aswell and two of my favourites in the past couple of years.
The 2 hours actually went by fast because it really does keep you entertained and I was really digging the story. Its one of few serious superhero movies that doesn't have fratboy humor and is dark.

Sure this movie had a good story, had amazing set pieces, great acting, chematry blah blah blah but the reason we ALL go to the movies is for fun and entertainment. This movie was good but I was hardly entertained, nothing made me excited and the movie tend to just stretch out way to long. I've seen way better action movies that put a smile on my face or wow'd me. If you really think about it this movie doesn't do anything differnet that other movies haven't done before.
R.I.P. Heath Ledger, hands down my favourite Joker in a live action Batman film, he was funny and a fucking psychopath. Better than sex!

Batman Begin's story is more interesting but the performances were weaker than they were in The Dark Knight. there is something quite addicting about the second movie that offers pleasant multiple viewings, the strength of the character studies and their shifts toward darkness or toward light.

Yes, as many people have mentioned, the rushed Two-Face story is my only problem with this otherwise perfect movie. Harvey Dent's story in this movie should have ended with us seeing him in the hospital with only the good side of his face showing. Given the depth of the Joker and corruption story line, an equally powerful ending with Batman on the run could easily have been written that didn't require Harvey Dent's death--then Two-Face could have a proper story in a future Batman film.

Even if we exclude how they changed stuff from the source material, we still got stuff. Like, how the hell could the Joker take more than 5-6 hard punches in the head by the well-trained Batman; without passing out? Or what about in the end, when Batman in the less hard outfit gets attacked by pitbulls AND a crowbar; yet, he stands up later like nothing happened?

@kurvos Perhaps "perfect" was a bit much--"excellent" would have been more appropriate. Anyway, the scene that I recall sort of cringing at was when Batman dove out the high-rise window to save Rachel and then crashed on the car below. I think they tried to indicate that Batman broke the fall some by opening his cape, but I don't think there's any way they could have realistically survived that fall--especially completely uninjured.

I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that Nolan is SO proud his Batman movies are SO "realistic". Like I said, I still love the movie. But... it's a bit inconsistent.

His voice was worse in this film. In Begins, it was usually just a rougher version of his normal voice. It wasn't annoying, and it still served the purpose it was supposed to.
In this film, it was much more growly, and he went a little crazy with it. (Come on, why does he talk to Lucius with it? The guy knows who he is).

Sure this movie had a good story, had amazing set pieces, great acting, chematry blah blah blah but the reason we ALL go to the movies is for fun and entertainment. This movie was good but I was hardly entertained, nothing made me excited and the movie tend to just stretch out way to long. I've seen way better action movies that put a smile on my face or wow'd me. If you really think about it this movie doesn't do anything differnet that other movies haven't done before.
