@92eire Would you prefer me to say you look like the afterbirth of an abortion, form your mothers fanny after she was shagged by a pig? Is that the sort of abuse that floats you boat?? Or is it the abuse the priests give you that you enjoy?
@ad1665 There was more to it than religion catholics (nationalists) had no civil rights were fiercely discriminated by the Unionists(protestants) look up the politics you'll begin to learn why it all started.
We Northern Irish proved our right of self determination. Hundreds of thousands of us put our lives on the line in the fields and streets of our own homeland, where our 'neighbours' cowardly touted and murdered us. We wore a uniform in the UDR/RUC and proudly defended our right to maintain our liberty as part of the UK. It wasn't just english or scots it was Ulstermen. This is what Republicans can't accept, it was Ulstermen of all religions who choose to defend that right. We did with our blood.
@Lumotaku You ask a valid question, its a bit like saying why didn't British Canada want to to the rest of the colonies that became the United States? The spilt was unfortunate for many Irish Nationalists who lived in the North, but the new Irish Republic did little to encourage the Protestant communit to join them and pretty much formed a Catholic State mirroring the prejudices of the North. The more any honest man analyses the situation, it is difficult to be on one side or the other
@seahorsey I completely respect that but you cannot deny that the nationalist(catholic) community were fiercely discriminated against. However all terrorist organizations whether they were IRA,INLA or UVF,UDA etc were scum. But the actions of the British army and the RUC at some points were questionable to say the very least. Thank god its nearly over the gardai and the irish army are working very closely with the PSNI and MI5 to stop these scum.
@seahorsey Don't scew the facts - during the Troubles the UDR and RUC were almost exclusively made up of Protestants, hardly Ulstermen "of all religions." Secondly, the prevailing political ideology in Ulster is that of Irish nationalism, only in NI is it Ulster Loyalism. Thirdly, both communities were touted and murdered. It's often forgotten that 90% of loyalist paramilitary murder were catholic civilians and that these organisations killed more civilians than anyone else in the conflict.
its hurts to see a foreign army in your country, espically wen they are gloryfid for being there, why won't you leave us be and let us rule are selfs in a free irish state united for all irishmen & women, as long as you are here that will never happen, go home this is not your country, if you want peace to exist in ireland, leave it alone and go home
British Army have no right to maintain colonisation in any part of Ireland.Go home......Ulster is Irish. All 9 Counties of it.32 County Republic,United,Gaeilge and Free.
In reply to confusedfoil, what about the 1,000s of true Irishmen who crossed the Irish Sea to Liverpool and volunteered to fight for freedom under the King in World War 2. Also visit the Menem gate at Ypres and see how Scots, Irish, Welsh and English names bought the freedom that confusedfoil talks about. True freedom requires strength, I don't think I need to say more!
@southarmaghtanker that is the true story of a British soldier in the 70's, a bomb was thrown into an RUC station and he used himself as a shield and saved the lives of a catholic family that were in the waiting room. Not every soldier was a bad person. Some of the jobs that the British troops did, money wouldn't have paid, such as EOD.
Lest we forget all who fell in Ulster! For god for queen and for those who answered the call locally! As a former Royal Marine for us the army the UVF/UFF and the RUC we all stemmed the terrorist republican tide!
I was a soldier of 19yrs old in 77/78 when I was sent to Ireland West Belfast , to keep peace. what a total waste of human Life on both sides when words could of been used, guns rained instead. good video very sad & very brave soldier/Pare
A lot on here about the brave provo ira fighters.....very brave to set a bomb that will kill and maim not only soldiers but women and children!and worse still it was targeted at the women and children!
They were cowardly murderers then and will always be cowardly murderers!
@pilgrimtone What about the shankill butchers they slaughtered innocents because they were catholic, what about that scottis regiment that shot danny O'Hagan because he "Supposedly" threw a petrol bomb
Or bloody sunday
The IRA was formed for one purpose.... to be rid of british occupation in Ireland. Yes the innocents that were killed was tragic, but by any means the british army are alot farther from being saints than the RA. they tortured and falsley accused innocents of being "Terrorists"
you soilders still live a propaghanda war even till now about the war in the north of ireland, remember thses lads who took up weapons against the mighty stae of britain where only corner boys just like you lot who joined the british army, but we fought you and beat you back to your barracks with stones and petrol bombs,
Fuck off. Do I think Britain should've been in there? Not really. But the reason I side with them is because the IRA continued to use terror attacks against the UK up until the end of the war. And I think even you should know how America feels about terrorism.
@USN1985dos what the ira are doing is what america done i their revelotion.. and america is a fuking shit hole how they feel about terrosim they poke their noses in every fucking war
I don't recall Nathaniel Greene sneaking into London and blowing up a wagon full of gun powder in a market street.
You intentionally attack civilians, you lose. Simple as that. If you wanted international support, you should've kept your targets military. Since you couldn't do that, we side with the UK.
Yeah, people keep telling us that, yet this past weekend in Boston I couldn't take two steps without running into someone vacationing from Europe or Asia. When I go to Europe myself, I'm treated just like anyone else, and I've only ever been told that I'm hated on the internet, which leads me to believe that only imbecile cowards such as yourself are of that mind.
Type in "Haditha" and you'll supposedly see what Americans are like as well. The difference? We never operated on orders to target civilians. Soldiers who do target civilians are dealt with. Terrorism on the other hand, specifically targets civilians on a regular basis, which is why the world hates terrorists.
It's a song about a soldier who got attacked on the falls road but gave his life taking the full force of the blow to save children who were in the facinity. So say what you will about the pettyness of the conflict.

@upthera77 they were shot at as well you have to rememeber, for that to b a peaceful demo the guns came out fairly quickly. now the two cpls being killed that was absolute hatred .
@britishutube No mate, they shot first, at a peaceful civil rights march, they retrieved no weapons from anyone that supposedly shot at them, they killed 14 innocent civilians and they were never condemned for it. They have no right in Ireland and never shall have any right in Ireland.
all right write a song about 2 brits who were sent in to the firing squad the executionars while there so called conrades hovered above and watch them die good job micheal stone mi5 brits aye
@flosssock and you probably never will, these british reconasaince squads are stil here and the army could be back at the drop of a hat, not much has changed, what good did your soldeirs do? not much, just kept the natives in their place, tried to murder my uncle and my mother and father too. the song quotes'as blind as blind could be', those lyrics might have made sense if it spoke of how the soldier was blind to the plight of catholics living in stae which discriminated them institutionaly..
@mcflannhan pick up a short book on our history, and you might understand what i meant, or maybe it doesnt matter to you what the oppressed feel. meh, what odds, if a british soldier wants to risk his life just to keep the natives in the shit, by all means, he'l have died for queen and country and so die a wee hero
...But a note to be made on the song. This was released in the early seventies then was banned...I think it was too contravercial at the time. I actually rehearsed the lyrics when I was a kid. And aside from a few verses, they came back to me just now. A good song, really. And pretty true when you thibnk about it and pretty level to both soilders and civvies.
MAsonic cover up more than likely. I mean, Orange Order and Irish republican (Brotherhood)...See Michael tsarion...But a note to be made on the song. Oh right then, when Elizibeth 1st landed British People in the ulster Plantation? then Cromwell geetting more land? executing and killing many irish? i dont know the history of ireland...
i've got good memories of my time in ireland...was no were near as bad as it was in the 70's or 80's... soldiers do a job and sometimes die doing it RIP
when this operation ended in northern ireland there was no comeration to what they did for us they just left through the back door. were as u see on the iraq is different . a bit disappointing because they were here for along time .
I was a soldier of 18yrs old in the 70s when I was sent to Irland, to keep peace. what a total waste of human Life on both sides when words could of been used, guns rained instead. good video
@fkud I servided in province as well. Some ball bag i know sat smugly and told me all about Gandi and how he changed everything by peaceful protests and the power of his words. And you know whit, he wis right as well
@fkud You weren't sent to keep peace you were sent as a paid mercenary to keep control of a part of a country that does not belong to you. Your country's occupation of Ireland is the cause of all the trouble. Don't act as if you were a mere referee.
I was just thinking, isn't N. Ireland technically not British since Britain is only referred to as the island comprised of england, scotland and wales?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Degree, that's correct, the illegitimate state of 'Northern Ireland' has nothing British about it. Britain is the island of Scotland, England and Wales. Northern Ireland was set up without consent of the people of Ireland and remains so. The 'British' people of the North are desendants of the Scottish & English planters.
Northern Ireland itself is considered part of the UK and not part of the British Isles. But the people of N.I depending on which side of a wall they are born consider themselves either British or Irish.
If it wasnt for the battle of britain then D-day would Not of happened. NOW WE HAVE A NEW ENEMY...THE EU and Global Government. Be sure to watch the "Obama deception".

@scottallan77 Irish people liked the English units, but hated the home service and some of the Scottish units. The English lads always gave good banter.
In this kind of civil conflict, Soldiers are in Between the hate of two communauties ... it was eften say that the British soldiers in Northern Ireland were bastards, but I SURE this is untrue, they do their best ... I REMEMBER that catholics have give them cup of tea when they protect them at the beginim of this conflict ...
its is so sad to hear and read so much shit on you tube about who killed who, the one thing i dont c or hear is god bless those who lost there lives wether they be soilder our civilian, have any off you who write into youtube, fought in campagin here in belfast wether you be soilder or civey. it wasnt a nice time , nightmares or constant within so many minds, have off you dont have a clue what people went through in this country, and if you truly did you would sit up and take note,
Thank God for the British Army. The finest soldiers in the world. They should never have been forced to go to Ireland but while there they did their very best.
Im a republican. Ive talkd online 2 a british soldier recently who was a corporal and served his time in Belfast in the late 80's early 90's. He said he didnt know a soldier that wanted to be there at all apart from a few nutcases. He said to me they were told to go so they did. Any truth in it?
There hasn't been any financial gain in war since people stopped fighting wars to gain land, resources and slaves.....Most wars these days are about killing all the same type of people. e.g. Rwanda, Kosovo.
The other type of war is to do with fighting terrorism and wars to prevent your enemies from being in a position to do the above.
BTW only an idiot would want another war in Ireland (any part of it).
Come off it everybody knows that the war in iraq was over oil. 911 was set up by the us government in order to have an excuse to invade for WOMD that where never found.
Who said anything about WANTING another war in Ireland?
No chance was 9/11 a set up. How would a government even begin to think up something so ludicrous.
I am a little suspicious of the war in Iraq, there were no WMDs and Saddam was about as different as you can be from Osama. Perhaps this is the exception to the rule I suggested before. If America were to be after oil again I'd be interrested how they would cover it up this time.
I served in Belfast in 76 and of course its true, we went were we ordered to go, of course there were plenty of times when i really didnt want to be there but there were also times when we did actually feel appreciated,we were kids who really didnt know what the hell it was all about.
browningfusion, facts are quite close, the i believe the IRA accounted for just 16% of civilian deaths tho they had due warning to get themselves clear, it was because messages were not passed through that bombs were going to be detonated. the IRA only bombed buildings for publicity, not to kill people, Loyalist forces however...killing taxi drivers and icecream van drivers, thats another story.
and i think it was more the RUC who colluded with loyalists, the brits prob had some role too tho
there was a total of 3636 deaths during the troublesstats show republicains were responsible for 58.8% of deaths, loyalists 28.9%and security forces 10.1 % ,the ira alone was greatest single life taker and accounted for almost half of the deaths, stop reading that comic the republicain news and get your facts right and stop making the soldiers look worse than they are
less than 31%of the IRAs victims were civilian..and that included british mp's,prison gaurds and members of the royal family.61%of the british armys victims were innocent and 85.9%of loyalists victims were innocent...who would you say is most efficiant?????dont beleive anything you read in BRITISH CONTROLLED NEWSPAPERS about any war!!dont be brainwashed by an imerialist gerrymandering government!!TIOCFAIDH AR LA!!the britisharmy colluded with loyaist death squads..FACT!!
ok browning dont want to be childish not abad argument but not well thought out, by my reckoning ie independent book written by a arthor from both sides of devide and not british gerrymandering propaganda he he the security forces killed 164 civilians whilst the ira were responsible for killing 636 (missing out 161 from thier own org they killed)wheres you argument as i said before stop reading that republicain news rubbish anyone can spin numbers by percentages, this is fact read lost lives
you still talk in numbers..i am talking about accuracy..how many bombs did the IRA detonate during the troubles??i am simply saying that although mistakes were made, the IRA did not intend to take civilians lives..if they had of wanted to, they could have killed thousands!!the british army described the PIRA as "a dedicated and formidable foe, while loyalists and di

Thank god its nearly over the gardai and the irish army are working very closely with the PSNI and MI5 to stop these scum.
dparker382 9 months ago
@seahorsey Don't scew the facts - during the Troubles the UDR and RUC were almost exclusively made up of Protestants, hardly Ulstermen "of all religions." Secondly, the prevailing political ideology in Ulster is that of Irish nationalism, only in NI is it Ulster Loyalism. Thirdly, both communities were touted and murdered. It's often forgotten that 90% of loyalist paramilitary murder were catholic civilians and that these organisations killed more civilians than anyone else in the conflict.

The IRA was formed for one purpose.... to be rid of british occupation in Ireland. Yes the innocents that were killed was tragic, but by any means the british army are alot farther from being saints than the RA. they tortured and falsley accused innocents of being "Terrorists"

You intentionally attack civilians, you lose. Simple as that. If you wanted international support, you should've kept your targets military. Since you couldn't do that, we side with the UK.

Type in "Haditha" and you'll supposedly see what Americans are like as well. The difference? We never operated on orders to target civilians. Soldiers who do target civilians are dealt with. Terrorism on the other hand, specifically targets civilians on a regular basis, which is why the world hates terrorists.

flosssock 8 months ago
@flosssock and you probably never will, these british reconasaince squads are stil here and the army could be back at the drop of a hat, not much has changed, what good did your soldeirs do? not much, just kept the natives in their place, tried to murder my uncle and my mother and father too. the song quotes'as blind as blind could be', those lyrics might have made sense if it spoke of how the soldier was blind to the plight of catholics living in stae which discriminated them institutionaly..
mcflannhan 8 months ago
@mcflannhan pick up a short book on our history, and you might understand what i meant, or maybe it doesnt matter to you what the oppressed feel. meh, what odds, if a british soldier wants to risk his life just to keep the natives in the shit, by all means, he'l have died for queen and country and so die a wee hero

Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.

Im a republican. Ive talkd online 2 a british soldier recently who was a corporal and served his time in Belfast in the late 80's early 90's. He said he didnt know a soldier that wanted to be there at all apart from a few nutcases. He said to me they were told to go so they did. Any truth in it?

Soldiers go where they are asked. I would say that the same could be said about Iraq...Apart from a few nutcases!!!
truebot 3 years ago
It seems to me your government is corupt to the core and uses its armys as puppets for political and finacial gain
remedy63 3 years ago
There hasn't been any financial gain in war since people stopped fighting wars to gain land, resources and slaves.....Most wars these days are about killing all the same type of people. e.g. Rwanda, Kosovo.
The other type of war is to do with fighting terrorism and wars to prevent your enemies from being in a position to do the above.
BTW only an idiot would want another war in Ireland (any part of it).
truebot 3 years ago
Come off it everybody knows that the war in iraq was over oil. 911 was set up by the us government in order to have an excuse to invade for WOMD that where never found.
Who said anything about WANTING another war in Ireland?
remedy63 3 years ago
No chance was 9/11 a set up. How would a government even begin to think up something so ludicrous.
I am a little suspicious of the war in Iraq, there were no WMDs and Saddam was about as different as you can be from Osama. Perhaps this is the exception to the rule I suggested before. If America were to be after oil again I'd be interrested how they would cover it up this time.
truebot 3 years ago

Jameshanna590 3 years ago
there was a total of 3636 deaths during the troublesstats show republicains were responsible for 58.8% of deaths, loyalists 28.9%and security forces 10.1 % ,the ira alone was greatest single life taker and accounted for almost half of the deaths, stop reading that comic the republicain news and get your facts right and stop making the soldiers look worse than they are
skinnymason 3 years ago 2
less than 31%of the IRAs victims were civilian..and that included british mp's,prison gaurds and members of the royal family.61%of the british armys victims were innocent and 85.9%of loyalists victims were innocent...who would you say is most efficiant?????dont beleive anything you read in BRITISH CONTROLLED NEWSPAPERS about any war!!dont be brainwashed by an imerialist gerrymandering government!!TIOCFAIDH AR LA!!the britisharmy colluded with loyaist death squads..FACT!!

ok browning dont want to be childish not abad argument but not well thought out, by my reckoning ie independent book written by a arthor from both sides of devide and not british gerrymandering propaganda he he the security forces killed 164 civilians whilst the ira were responsible for killing 636 (missing out 161 from thier own org they killed)wheres you argument as i said before stop reading that republicain news rubbish anyone can spin numbers by percentages, this is fact read lost lives
skinnymason 3 years ago
you still talk in numbers..i am talking about accuracy..how many bombs did the IRA detonate during the troubles??i am simply saying that although mistakes were made, the IRA did not intend to take civilians lives..if they had of wanted to, they could have killed thousands!!the british army described the PIRA as "a dedicated and formidable foe, while loyalists and di
