  • unless your bloody rich, why would you need two iMacs?

  • i just got a job so im saving up for this :D

can someone please tell me what the difference is between the 21.5 and the 27?

is it just the size? x

  • @lovelivelifepeace the 27 inch has better specs

  • @lovelivelifepeace tech specs

  • sory boot efi is fucked so just reinstall snow leopard of Lion and it should boot it less than 30 seconds

  • I just got 27' inch imac and am noticing it makes a constant humming/growling sound. I'm thinking it's the hard drive. I don't think my former 24inch imac made that sound. Do you notice any difference in the background HDD sound? Or maybe there's something wrong with my 27'....my 24' was much quieter...

  • next time go and buy a new camera. Only 360p...the iphone4 does it better

  • @Ale180SX Shoddy camerawork aside, this was 2009 and I was using an iPhone 3Gs. iPhone 4 wasn't yet available. Have you seen my newest iMac video? Thanks for watching!

  • thats too much computer for 1 man

  • I have a 27" iMac and it has a quad-core i7 @2.8GHz and 8GB of RAM and it boots very slow just like the one shown!

  • @cy012201 go to the system preferences, go to startup disc and select your main drive. it should solve the issue. rate up if it did. so others can see the soloution

  • The boot up drive hasn't been selected in preferences, that is why it is taking so long to boot up on the 17".

  • i wish i had a mac. but for now i got this crappy pc

  • Go onto system preferences and click on start up disk select your macintosh Hd and then hit the restart button I had the same problem

  • Lol it took hours to boot. My 3 years old Laptop with SSD and Ubuntu 10.10 owns that thing.

  • waah waahhh big fucking diference!!!!!

  • dude you gotta select the startup disk...system preferences>startup disk>Macintosh HD

  • Dude, I don't know what is wrong with the 27" in your video.. But I have the 27" i3 model, and it boots a hell of a lot quicker than both the 24" and the 27" iMac's in your video..

  • @specialk777uo same here

  • Hi!

I'm getting an iMac for Christmas (yay), do you know how I can transfer my whole music library to the iMac's iTunes library? Do I have to do it manually like copy-paste?

  • @loghen01 i dont know of a way...but i just put all my music on a flash drive...then put it in my new imac (i got one for christmas too) and dragged it to my itunes...same with apps and vids and pics

  • I <3 Apple !

  • GET A MAC MINI

  • w imac 2006 24"::::::::the best XD

  • They made the Apple logo smaller!

I thought it was just the big screen, but it is true!

  • The reason some higher end Macs take time to get past the gray screen is that they do hardware tests upon boot. So the more ram, more HDDS (Mac Pro) and more powerful processor, it is actually testing them for faults.

  • Dude you gotta relax and think about what your gonna say before filming so you can stop saying ummm

  • I got the one on the right!

  • will new imacs come out b4 feburary 2011? or what is going to happen? cause. i am going to have money in feb 2011...and when do imacs come out...like the new 1's?

  • you have to select the startup disk.

  • Nice review.. Say if I want the uhh.. iMac 27" i3.. can I buy it.. then later on get the i7 installed? or is that not possible..? Also my wall... its 47cm in height.. now if I remove the apple stand and all will it fit?

  • Your imac doesn't know where to boot from, so you will have to change something in your bootsettings I guess.

  • you should change some settings, and you will boot way faster :]

  • @TheBartrab which settings and why??

  • Much better imo because its more widescreen and they reduced the huge apple logo under the screen. Better processor, graphics, ram and hard drive options as well.

  • Hi, great video

  • it shouldn't be that slow...

  • The 27" iMac doesn't find the startup disk until the 24" has finished booting. You should select what startup disk to use in system preferences on the 27". The iMac can't start booting the os until this logo has come up ad the logo shows that the computer has found thr startup disk. I think my 2007 mac mini is faster than the 27" because of that startup disk issue.

  • he said short at the begining and its nine min long wtf

  • the 27 inch boots A LOT faster ... there's something wrong

anyways i have 1 and i'm VERY happy with it simply perfect ^^

  • My Macbook Pro is even faster than that!! What gives?

  • wow that is epically slow boot compared to the old model...

  • haha! Control Panel? System Preferences!!!!! lol

  • Plz Hellp and Watch my videos of the Imac I7 Review and Unboxing. Its much detailed and shorter which is less time consuming.:)

  • I can has the 24" one?

  • Hahah, trade you the 24" for my 30" Cinema display!

  • Hi, great video and thats awesome you have both of these computers. So being you have both which would you recommend based on info this info. My apple store near me is selling the imac 24" for 1,250 discount brand new. Are there any features on the new imac that would lead me to by the 21.5 or 27(1,699) I believe the 24" at 1,250 is a steal isn't it?

  • Nice Vid,

Check Out My Give Away, I'm Giving away 17 Things!!!

  • Nice Vid,

Check Out My Give Away, I'm Giving away 17 Things!!!

  • ...hey men.. can you spare some time to check out the exact price of iMac there at the US . . because here in the philippines it's "PRICEY" damn~! ... Thanks Dude

  • what size

  • Great machine I love mine runs great

  • renegate its the first boot, normaly it takes much less time

  • over a minute to boot up? thats major slow.

    Must be a setting.

Windows 7 for me is up in 20 seconds, thats on a Triple Core AMD Phenom 8750. Or 1 second from sleep mode.

and im still using mechanical hard drives. So definitely something wrong with that, cos snow leopard on that should be something similar or better.

  • @RenegadeMaster07 haha i agree with you im running 7 ultimate and it takes like 20 seconds to boot and im just running a pentium 4 with 2 gigs of ram. but i do say macs are way better built than pcs but really if you compare them on a hardware level there isnt much different.

  • @tmannelson94 Yeh, and i'm not trying to be a windows fan at all. I want a mac actually for video editing. But its getting one as fast as my PC thats the trouble, otherwise it's not much good. Because my other PC has a pretty fast Intel Chip, so i'd need money for something better before i would switch.

but either way, windows 7 or snow leopard, computers are great for everyone now.

  • @RenegadeMaster07 yeah ive owned a couple macs in the past and used quite a few i love them i just wish they wouldn't cost so much. Im actuially thinking about building a pc with the specs of some of the newer macs and installing a cracked verison of osx ive seen a few people that have done that and it seems to work pretty good

  • You must choose the internal hardrive in the settings of the 27" to boot faster. In the standard settings is network boot enabled.

  • What is Ram?

  • random accsess memory , the more ram you have the more stuff you can do at once. thats just the simple answer lol

  • The 3.06 Core 2 Duo is old technology. It won't be much faster, if at all, then last years Imac. If you get one make sure you purchase the i5 or i7 or you may regret your purchase (preferably i7).

  • @tronplayer You're right. I think it really depends on what type of user you are. If you are a power user, a heavy multitasker, use VMs, or just want to be a little more future proof, go with the i5 or i7 model. When I started having graphics trouble with my 3.06 in the video, I exchanged for the i5 and am glad I did. However I do think that a lot of people would be completely satisfied with C2D processor.

  • thats so strange...i had the same setup but was having issues with my 24in, so apple replaced for a 27in at no charge. and my 27in booted up super quick....maybe after you run all updates it will be normal. its lovely tho! and the keyboard...i wish it had numeric keypad as well! one day

  • do u have any issues (yellow tinge)??

  • @nesh96 I don't recall with my 3.06. On my i5, I think there could be a slight yellow tinge. However, I didn't notice anything until other people started mentioning it. Could also have something to do with screen position relative to eye level. My eye level is at the top of the screen. If I back off and look straight on at the center, any yellow I think I see becomes even less evident. If I do have it it's not nearly as bad as my 2007 LED MBP, which I did notice the first day I got it.

  • My pc boots faster then the 27inch... I thought apple was superfast boot and always supermuch faster then PC? Oh the thing I learn on the internetz

  • it's not supposed to boot that slowly

  • @funsizedchoco first boots are susually slow but this one is unusally slow... maybe its just C2D'S... i hate them even though i hv a C2D early 09 imac

  • @funsizedchoco THE 1 ONE I ALWAYS SLO IVE HAD MINE for a wile and its boots in a few secs

  • @funsizedchoco its for a better user, not some media freak.

  • @funsizedchoco i agree...my imac boots in 20-25 sec (grant it, i have the newer i3 27 inch...) this is how long mine took in the beginning...but after about 5 boots it did it in 20-25...

  • @GlaciesTech nevermind...i forgot that i selected the startup disk...

  • hi what you can tell me about the graphics, i'm a photographer so i really need to use progs as Photoshop and so on and I'd like to know if this new imac can work good with all that stuff, i've heard it's too soon for quad core to be purchased, what can u tell me about this?

    Thanks a lot!

(ps i have the 24" iMac with 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM - shall I wait or?)

  • @pupsikzipper Hi, where are you located? In the US, quad core models have been available since November I believe. If you are a photographer, the new iMacs will be great for Photoshop and for your needs. However you should make sure you are comfortable with the glossy display that some people view as a drawback. I would recommend trying to see one in person before purchase if you are at all unsure.

  • @blakecottington Do you think that 27", 8Gig, i7 will be good with Lightroom and Final Cut Express?

  • @pupsikzipper You better off getting a PC computer. The new Intel 8 core processors are the way to go

  • @pupsikzipper one tip evan thou the imac has an sd card reader get a card reader via firewire 800 and don't get the wireless key board get the wires one with the numeric pad and try to not ge† a apple mouse try to get a mouse from razor or logitech for photo editing

  • @pupsikzipper

its a good computer for it i think,

but if there's no point bout money then you should get a mac pro and a special display for photographs =D

  • @pupsikzipper

its a good computer for it i think,

but if there's no point bout money then you should get a mac pro and a special display for photographs =D

  • @bert91212 I dare you to try and get a pc the same specs with the same quality screen for a lower price of the imac.

  • @bert91212 oh yeah and thoses idiots who edit the movies you watch and design the posters & websites you see & use. Ever used a mac as you main computer? dont lie.

  • There's nothing under powered about this iMac and as far as price goes, you get what you pay for.

You have to look at total price of ownership. I have had little problems with the 6 Macs that I have owned since 1984.

Now if you turn on that 64 bit kernel it will boot a lot faster.

I'm going to get one of these i7 iMacs with 8GB of RAM in the next 2.

I have noticed that all these Mac haters never own a Mac.

I'd much rather have a computer I can use than tinker with as in a build.

  • mac virus free for ever alienware cost to much money

  • @KpWGteam

mac is not virus free if u want i can send u one to prove it

  • yea i cab send you 7,500 virus then well see if you can do any thing and that why you try to provent it

  • @KpWGteam

i dont have any probs with viruses, macs are for computer illiterate people who dont know basic care for their system, IE macfags..also old folks

  • well i know what im doing

  • @KpWGteam

obviously not since ur in favor of over priced under powered macs gj retard

  • umm idk care for macs there to priced i like alien ware there much better even know there to much money when your done customizing umm

  • @bert91212 I used alot of PC's and I tell You, iMac fucking rules them all!!!

  • @bert91212 A calculator is for illiterate people like you who can't solve the basic math. It is 2010. Grow up...

  • @bert91212 do you own a mac? i find that most people who own pc's look at my mac and say...how do you do so and so...wheres the taskbar...this thing is confusing...oh yea...technologically illiterate people really use mac's...

  • @GlaciesTech yes i have owned a mac up untill a year ago. i sold my macbook when i finally had enough of it. its an OK system nothing more. not to mention the only thing i did on it was graphic design my pc did everything else i do alot faster and with ease. i also run linux witch is going to be replacing my windows 7 soon as my main OS the only thing holding me back is gaming

  • just go build a system nd take care of it, saves money, more power, and you get exactly what u want

  • yea true iv got 3 hps 2 laptops(PARENTS) 1 desktop(MINE) next one in a year will be a alienware i mean the reason why i like umm iz there fast mostly what you want but there known for there cool leds in there towers but there laptops are way cooler let me know which one you think is the best out of laptops or desktops

  • send me a message and ill let u know

  • @bert91212

As an ict guy i agree with you. But you can't get a good high end pc and a screen of the size like the iMac for that money, the only big selling point spec wise is the 27 inch led screen.

  • @skrbicdu lol useless.. yeah.. usless for a guy who doesn't know shit about pc's .. that flashy thing you call os is outsmarted by any Ubuntu edition .

  • By the way.... just so u know... Your 27inch iMac is slower then your 24inch, its only the 27inch i5's and i7's that beat the top spec 24inch. Hence its slower performance booting up

  • @fxSplash actually it booted slowly because he didnt set the startup disk...it had to look for the OS X files to boot

  • hooly shit what is this? a 7 grand setup?

  • my next pc will be a alineware or mac what do you think?

  • MAC!!!!!!!!!!

  • umm macs are not t the best thing alienware computers are so of the best but costume pc are mostly the best

  • Mac. Its faster (:

  • If you're going to buy a PC DO NOT BUY Alienware. They over charge. Build it yourself and you'll save a hell of a lot.

  • @KpWGteam alienware all the way ..you can put mac osx on it ..

  • @OZ2YOU naa for the money i spend on an alienware computer i better get a mac pro with double quad core and install a windows partition on it and it will be just as good as an alienware and u will also have osx completaly legally

  • yea but its illegal.

  • Like the imac, would use my own logitech mouse thow that feels much nicer in the hand, and the old mac keyboard you have their is nicer to type on then the new wireless one.

  • If you select it to boot up directly from the HDD it will boot up much faster!

  • Great video...I have a 24'' I mac and I'm debating upgrading to the 27'....

  • me tooo... 27'' is so much better

  • You should but only if your desk is reasonably big !

  • good to see ...

  • nice

  • one of those moniters is 1 inch bigger than my tv lol

  • What r u doin on the floor?? Lol

  • look at that mouse? its for 3-year old kid.

  • whats better an hp touchsmart or imac. I like how the hp touchsmart is touchscreen similar to the iphone or ipod touch.

  • Touchscreen computers aren't that accurate... and the screen quality of the imac is WAYY superior. It all depends on what you wanna do what what specs do you want, and of course, if you want Windows 7 or Snow Leopard

  • it you bomb

  • pobre =D rsrss

  • You need to reset the PRAM.

  • You need to reset the PRAM on the 27 inch, it should shave off some boot time.

  • it gets to the promt slower cause of snowleopard

  • to get it to boot quicker set it in system preferences super easy to do and it will boot way quicker.

  • set what is system prefrences?

  • @AlexBrown52 the boot disk...system preferences>startup disk>Macintosh HD

  • setup the system preferences and it will boot way faster

  • how do u do that ?

  • damn, that 27 took forever to boot.

  • awesome

  • I have the 27in, and I have the screen flickering problem. Beware. most ppl hav had reported they have same problems on their 27in's!!

  • Ive heard about this. My 27" hasn't had that problem yet. I hope it stays that way. Check out my video about the 27".

  • mine seems to think i got a new mouse in sys pref but i dont? lol

  • I should've waited but I needed an iMac for college dorm back in August. I paid for the 24 inch model with 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo, 8 GB RAM, and so on (around $3,500 total price). Now this comes out... But that's ok. I can deal with my Mac, its still awesome. Its good they didnt completely change the design like they did when you compare a G5 iMac to an Aluminum. But yeah. Great video!

  • damn.....if i only waited a year to get the 27in :P

  • Cant understand why these macs should be so freking expensive. In my country one 27" costs like 27 000 NOK wich is like 4809 USD.

  • What? It starts at 12990 NOK..

  • It starts with 12990 yes, but i was browsing some online stores today and i saw a iMac 27" to fuckin 27000 NOK

  • @Vman446 Link please..

  • Found out that it was an Mac Pro and not iMac sorry. but the Mac Pro is 27000 NOK

  • Comment removed

  • Skyll dig själv som bor i Norge :)

  • Nei :D JEg påpekte at det var dyrere i butikkene, jeg kan få det mye billigere :)

  • Nice video, I enjoyed watching it!

I ordered the 27" mac (but with the HD 4850 card) and I have to wait until the end of November. I feel sad, so I'm browsing all mac related stuff lawl :)

  • Great review.

  • Great review buddy

i have the 24 inch model but love the higher REZ and the

super slim boarder on the bottom of the screen...

    Thanks for the review

  • hows the isight camera on the 27 inch better worse than the previous model

  • rustyspoon716, I can't compare side by side anymore because I sold the 24" but the iSight on the 27" definitely looks nice. Not worse than the 24" and perhaps better.

  • How is the wifi reception on the 27" since it only has the small plastic apple in the back to get a signal out or in?

  • NorCalExplorer, I am not using WiFi right now because I am close to my router. DId you read somewhere that the wifi antenna is located behind the Apple logo in the back?

  • I think it was on ifixit that when they were doing a tear down of the 27" iMac they mentioned that the antenna wires were on the inside of the back Apple logo since wifi will not penetrate the aluminum case. When I was at best buy the 27" kept loosing the wifi signal at the store. The aluminum case looks good, but not good for wifi connections.

  • Im wondering?

    is that a 21.5" not a 27"

because i went to bestbuy and saw it, and it was much bigger then this,

and i was not as close to size as the other old imac?

  • senicesty, it is the 27" model.

  • ok 27inches.. Thats a little to big for me But I love the Imac!!

  • i ordered one of these from the apple online store, still hasn't been shipped yet, wondering why..

  • its a slower boot up time because, one it takes a lot more power to turn it on.

Two it has a i5 or i7 so it takes more time to turn on.

Three bigger screen takes more power.

So I recommend that you just put it on standby mode.

but if you don't use it for a day or more shut it down.

  • Get your facts straight. The i5 or i7 hasn't even shipped yet.

  • Yea it has.

I just got one 2 days ago at the apple store.

  • this guy doesn't have the i5 or i7. Vid was posted on 21Oct09 its either the 3.06 or 3.33. Are you experiencing the same start up times with the i5/i7 ?

  • yeah the Core i5 / i7's don't ship til November sometime

  • you don't have an i5/i7 imac

  • It is shipping now. 11/09/09

  • 10.6.2 will have native support for the magic mouse.

  • Hey!DO you have GTA IV or Crysis ? I'd like to see gameplay and max graphic setting on imac 27.

I'm going to buy new computer and I'm sure it'll be mac.

  • I'm sorry but I don't have those games.

  • I purchased one yesterday, 3,33 Ghz, 512MB videocard, 8GBs of ram and 3 years protection, and yes it was quite expensive...

  • They don't do a 3.33!!!

  • Oops, yes they do,I'm sorry, I was looking at the quad cores which only go up to 2.8. I do apologize.

  • Thanks for the review, I am also looking to upgrade from my 24 to the 27. Is the font size smaller on the 27? I like the idea of more screen real estate but I worry about a small font size on the 27.

Would love to hear your opinion

  • Yes, the font is smaller on the 27" but you will quickly get used to it.

  • imac 27 vs. sony vaio L....thoughts?

  • throw your sony out.

get your money back if u still can.

it doesn't work as good as it looks.

    get a mac.

  • i think i can still get a refund...the order ships tomorrow & i just won't open it....what do you mean 'it doesn't work as good as it looks'? have you tried it already? i was thinking of the switch b/c of the imac 27's incredible screen -- way nicer than the L...other than that, I'm not particularly biased one way or another...

  • you should better learn how to talk...i mean what's that...the 27 inch is...oomm, yeah...oommm..omg..

  • I'll be purchasing a 27 inch iMac soon, would there be any way to dual boot or even run both Mac Snow Leopard & Windows 7 on the computer? Well so far things are looking to be awesome for Apple!
