  • Nice fro joey

  • muito bom....

  • My Uncle J. Hurdist Milsap wrote this song, and it makes me smile wider than Texas whenI hear it. he also wrote, "I've got That Old time Religion in My Heart".

  • I love this song. I think that it is a good song.

  • Ive always loved these guys now as a christan even more so.

  • I love this song, and they do a good job. Just wandering though, why are they jumping around? I don't think that it is that "attractive" to an audience.

  • @sman1348 If one gets in the Spirit or the Spirit gets in one, it is impossible to not to jump and dance. It has nothing to do with being “attractive to an audience”, but it is about being filled with the Holy Ghost.

  • 10 people must not have had a little talk with JUSUS!

  • @relimes He didn't start growing out the beard until 1981 or so.

  • @relimes believe it or not, William Lee Golden (guy with the beard) is THERE, standing next to Sterban (the bass)..........he did a TOTAL transformation in the 80's - LOL

  • So awesome. You guys bring it back and so great.

  • Jesus doesn't answer prayers. Prayers go through Jesus to God. God answers prayers...although Jesus did say he was God...but they're different...but the same...oh well.

  • praise god brothers

  • Sam Elliot the actor has a deep voice. Don't think voice his is deeper though.

  • ive seen them in concert, great guys and richards voice makes the ground shake!!!

  • we need him now

  • Didn't Richard Sterban sing with The Stamps in the early 70's before he came to the Oaks in 1972 ?

  • @TheLizardKing1967 Yes he did!! Lucky guy got to sing with Elvis!!

  • Yes he was with the Stamps that backed Elvis during the early 70's

  • Been a fan of these guys over 40 years. Love their Gospel & their country.Richard is one of the best Bass Singers ever. You might want to take a listen to a Bass Singer I stumbled on about a month ago. Listen to Lonesome Road The Rangers.I never heard of these guys & have been a fan of Gospel over 40 years. The Bass Singer is awesome. After checking around these guys have been around don't know how they were kept a secret from me.If you like quartets & great Bass Singers you will love these guys.

  • How funny! When I see pictures of myself, I laugh. Hope they have a good sense of humor.

  • Superb...loved it at the first watch itself

  • Back about 75-76 the oaks were on tour in Fl. New to country old to gospel but changed. I spoke with Richard for a college new paper. He was very polite and kind to someone who was a nobody. He did not need to be he could have refused. He and the Oaks had just raced in from TX to do the show in Fl and this was after the show. He sat and talked untill the road manager ran him off. A good man with a great heart.

  • That hair is angry @ 1:07. LOL!

  • james earl jones cant even get that deep a voice

  • @DBcoop04 you cant put mr jones in the same line as mr sterban, mr jones is not a singer, and mr jones was born illiterate and dyslexic how about them apples so they both are in there own lines, two diff worlds

  • @sorBwepSmodnaR How do you know that

  • @TheDadrobb we are all born illiterate. i don't know a single baby who can read.

  • @DBcoop04 LMAO

  • @DBcoop04 IF one had to pick someone that could ocem close id pick him, but you're right. hewas too busy being darth vaders voice anyways lol

  • @DBcoop04 no but JD sumner could

  • I love the Oak Ridge Boys, I grew up listening to them!!

  • @MultiAnimal11

You are NOT alone! I grew up listening to The Oaks. I was brought up with good Country Music. I turned out alright. I wish that more parents would raise their children on good music. Maybe the world would be a better place.

  • evrybody has their own opinion to who is better,,,who cares? its called the oak ridge BOYS,,PLURAL,,meaning more than one,,if he can complete the group,,cool,,god bless him and his voice,,,people need to grow up a lil..

  • Look at the singing as a whole, the are great!!! martinmary555 catch my video martinmary555

  • wat that's the deepest voice I ever heard!

  • That and Golden City bass singer are good singers :)

  • You mean Gold City?

  • Tennessee Ernie Ford Check Him out :P then we can talk

  • yeah,load them 16tons..have a blessed new year.

  • how is he not a good bass singer?

  • i heard George tell about J.D. called him,& said," what are we gonna do,with all these bass singers dying",George told him,"he(j.d)" didn't have too worry then.J.D. just crawled,& held that big ear..take care.

  • @toonful you mean that George said to J.D. "I was talking about GOOD bass singers who were dying..you don't have a thing to worry about!"

  • @BigBoiJC ,yeah,he was making fun at J.D. God be w/U & URS.

  • J.D. never impressed me. He was a growley bass. I'll take a good commercial bass any day over a growler. To me it is an insult to Younce, Riley, Sterban, and those guys to put JD up there with them.

  • really are you retarted? wow J.D is the best bass that has ever lived

  • not really sure where you get off aking me if I am retarted! Everybody has their own opinion and I don't think that JD was all that. for one he blowed his notes out instead of placing a good quality tone and secondly he growled. He was good if you like that style of bass singing but he was no Big Chief or London Parris!

  • i mean you have to be retarted to not like that man better than big chief or parris.

  • and its retarded btw. btw

  • London Parris was not even CLOSE to a "commercial" bass singer. Everyone does have there own opinion you are right about that. You obviously don't hear what I hear. London Parris' voice was more scratchy sounding than J.D's voice. If Elvis chooses you out of everyone else in the world he must have been pretty good. Set I don't know how many records. Why don't you ask sterban and a few others where and who they learned from. J.D. Sumner talked lower than 99 percent of bass singers can ever get.

  • ok...puttt the crackpipe down. Good lord. Why does Elvis' opinion count in gospel music? You're seriously joking right?? Everyone liked J.D. Sumner because he set the stage for bass singing especially when he replaced the bass singer for the blackwood brothers that was killed in the plane crash. Like I said before...J.D. Talked in his sleep lower than 99 percent of any bass singer could ever get. Why don't you look and see who Richard Sterban learned from. George Idolized J.D.

  • Love IT

  • Awesome video!

  • Love you guys!

    Video is kickin ass

  • Lord, Thy love has sought and found us Wandering in this desert wide, Thou hast thrown Thine arms around us, For us suffered, bled, and died: Sing, my soul! He loved thee, Jesus gave Himself for me. Lord, we worship and adore Thee For Thy rich, Thy matchless grace, Perfect soon in joy before Thee, We shall see Thee face to face. Yet e'en now our song shall be, Jesus gave Himself for me.
  • Hi,

this is brother from Holland. My name is Siegfried. I like this text. Can you tell what the title of the song is?

i wish you the peace of Jesus

  • LOVE the Oak Ridge Boys!!!

  • and these guys are still kicking it all these years later.

  • just out of curiosity, what makes you say that?

  • great song, but the performance . . . so awkward, SO wrong

  • Great music!!

  • JD sumner and Rex nelon were both amazing bass singers...but my favourite has to be either rex nelon or london parris...there all amazing though!

  • I can remember when Richard sang baritone for JD & the Stamps!

  • Richard never sang Baritone for the Stamps. JD hired Richard to sing bass for the Stamps. JD had other things going on business wise, and wanterd Richard to sing bass, he would just come out for special numbers. It was when Elvis wanted JD to sing that Richard left for the Oak Ridge Boys.

  • London Parris was awesome! You can't leave out the Big Chief though!

  • lets just go with J.D Sumner and Richard

  • Richard Sterban is great but don't forget J.D. Souther. the "Big Chief" or George Younce.

  • More amazing than the hair.....the shirts and gold chains.

  • good stuff

  • There are some pretty disgusting comments on this really great video---song, singers, and production. Keep up the good work, Oakswarrior!!!

  • The energy is Awesome as is Jesus.

  • I love this song. Reminds me of my childhood when we sung the old songs. There is no way you can stay seated when singing this song and the spirit of the Lord comes upon you! Most new-age gospel music doesn't have the same feeling as the old "tried and true" songs. Thanks for posting!

  • Oh my gosh, I know exactly what you mean.. This and the Old Gospel Ship are my two favorite songs, still to this day I can't listen to either of these without tearing up.. It's such a blessing to be able to search for these songs on the internet and relive my childhood.

  • This is the way that song should be sung. Other people do it too slow. I like it with feeling.

  • oh my, look at the hair do's

  • try it, the women will scream and shout, follow you like intoxicated!

  • Just to be clear, my earlier comment about "Bill not claiming to be a great bass singer" was in reply to Rencal's earlier statement about the Bass singer in the Oaks and the fact Elvis better than "Bill Gaither". I am not dissing anyone here, just saying that Bill Gaither, from what I have observed and heard, does not present himself as an accomplished Bass Singer, though he does fine in GVB. He always gave kudos to Sumner, Nelon, many others... Sorry for any confusion.

  • The Oak Ridge Boys . their really sweet people ive talked to them a few times on myspace their so sweet......... look em up on their they will talk to u as well . i love ya oak boys keep up the good work. maybei can sing with them some time when i make my 1st album.

  • What is their myspace names? I am very new at myspace but would love to talk to the group.

    Thanks for your help.

  • oak ridge boys are true legends that will never die

  • dancing at 1:43!!!!!!! lol

  • I think it's hilarious to see people posting "prideful" comments here, discarding others' opinions.

How about you instead criticize people for asserting that their knowledge of music is greater, or that they understand it more deeply?

  • Jesus is God

  • what about melvin of the temtations, he had a great deep voice too

  • I have sang in quartets (Raymac)

    have you?

    I also have perfect pitch.....

This song has very few if no flaws. That is one of the best bass singers in the business (He sang with Elvis and is better than Bill Gaither)

  • In all fairness, Bill would not claim to be a great bass singer...LOL.

  • GOD in mercy sent His Son To a world by sin undone; Jesus Christ was crucified --- 'Twas for sinners Jesus died. Oh! the glory of the grace, Shining in the Saviour's face, Telling sinners from above, "God is Light" and "God is Love." All who in His name believe, Everlasting life receive; Lord of all is Jesus now; Every knee to Him must bow.
  • I thought Richard sang Bass

  • GOD in mercy sent His Son To a world by sin undone; Jesus Christ was crucified --- 'Twas for sinners Jesus died. Oh! the glory of the grace, Shining in the Saviour's face, Telling sinners from above, "God is Light" and "God is Love." All who in His name believe, Everlasting life receive; Lord of all is Jesus now; Every knee to Him must bow.
  • I'm also a teen fan of the oak ridge boys. The bass is great!

  • so i must be a really rare "teen-something" oak ridge boys fan

  • I'm a rare "twenty-something" Oak Ridge Boys fan. My father has always been a big fan and I can remember him playing O.R.B. tapes when I was younger. Hearing their music brings back a lot of memories. This video is cool because of how rare it is. They were (and are) great as a country act, but ya still gotta love their gospel performances.

  • WOW! William Lee looks SO different then. When I first saw the Oaks He was just starting to go grey & let his beard grow. Would love to hear them do "Jesus is coming soon" from this lineup & era. I did hear it once on the radio (live version) & they rocked the audience.

  • Joes one legged gallop at 1:43 makes this video funny as hell.

  • yeah the 1:43 marker is funny as hell

  • Does my heart good to hear this song done right. As in, in question-response format, and in harmony. It's good when music is done the way it's written. Next time I hear it wrong, I'm throwing my hymnal.

  • I enjoyed your video, Very Good! If you like you can see my video on YouTube under Wayne Weberpal. You can also find my music CD on Ebay under "Mansion Over the Hilltop". Best Wishes, Wayne Weberpal

  • Oh! what a Saviour is Jesus the Lord,

Well might His name by His saints be adored!

He has redeemed us from hell by His blood,

Saved them for ever, and brought them to God.

  • Great video. I still have clothes like that!

  • very scary.....

  • I know, still can't believe it everytime I look at this..:-).

  • How scary is the fact that Joe Bonsall is 29 y.o in this video.

  • As my pastor of many years ago would say, "WELL GLORY". Nuff said.

  • Jesus is real. Wonderful beat.

  • wOnderful, where are they these days...

  • Go, tell thy wants to Jesus,

    Thou needy, anxious one;

Spread out thy cast to Jesus,

    And look to Him alone;

    To God confess through Jesus,

    He's faithful to forgive;

And love the name of Jesus,

    Through whom alone we live.

  • JD Sumner is the lowest bass voice I have ever heard, but in the end, does range really matter that much?

  • J.D. was the lowest, Richard is run through a processor.

  • He is not run through a processor.

  • Rich Sterban is a great bass singer. He has a great tone to his voice.

  • not even close to the best

    JD Sumner and George Yance

JD is in the Guiness Book of World Records as the lowest of the bass singers.

Listen to JD or George THEN say Rich is the best

  • Just cause JD DID have the lowest voice doesn't make him the best....he doesn't hold that record anymore....

  • JD hasn't held the record for quite a few years. And its not George Yance, it's Younce. That's 2 strikes, one more you're out :)

  • You FREAKING idiot. "fredt32" never said Richard Sterban was the best. He said he was great. And, you don't know anything about bass singing if Jd and George are the only names you know. I bet youve never heard of Big Chief, London Parris, or Hershel Wooten.

  • Calvin Runion

  • They make it look easy

  • Any more video's with Little Willie in the video???? Please check. Let's see more of Little Willie. THANK'S

  • For the record I like both Richard Sterban AND the late JD Summner.

  • Richard worked with JD during the Stamp days with elvis. JD mentored Richard. You can see JD in Richard once in a while.

  • Was just wondering if they lip synched this? It looks like Joe says "yes he did" right after the opening line but his mouth doesn't move then. Anyone else see this too?
