  • Nice work!! It's always fun trying to get the congregation to not drag a triumphant hymn into a durge and you did it magnificently! Keep up the awesome work! To those that say an organist is too loud, voices are the stops are simply another rank on top of the flutes ;)

  • Polish organists in church are playing and singing...

  • You can play the Organ very very good! Awesome!

  • Personally, I think the Wicks company in Highland, IL make fine organs. I wish I could afford one.

  • How long have you been playing?

  • @DrunkCanadian3 In this video I had been playing for one and a half years. Now, it's been 3 years.

  • good job, you can see you are still learning... the more you work at it, the less you will need to look down. My grandmother taught herself to play an organ after doing 30+ of piano. Great job either way!

  • I love playing the pipe organ! Regardless of how advance digital sampling is, there is still nothing like a real pipe organ!

  • @patsaxon

Have you played Rodgers? I can't tell the difference between their sounds and the real thing.

  • here here, there's nothing like feeling the resistance of a proper tracker organ

  • nicely played, and as for the improvisations, well done. you are a good organist, did you get accepted into medical school and did you play at this years christmas eve mass service.

  • Wonderful playing! Considering the fact that this Wicks is from the company's "dark period" (when they'd hang pipes anywhere to make a buck), this is an awesome performance!

  • How long did it take you to learn to play? Fantastic job!!

  • : ) nice job!

  • Simply superb! Ty for sharing your gift with us.

  • A superb rendition, particularly the improv at beginning and end.

One thing I would suggest is giving the congregation and choir more of a feel of the tempo introduction, perhaps moving the scale at 0:34 to the very beginning as opposed to 'running up' and simply giving a chord with no rhythm right before the singers come in.

Hope you know what I mean :)

  • It sounded like the first verse was played using the Mixture III wasn't it?

  • Yes, the mixture III was on.

  • What can I say? That was great!

  • in response to jtpwk, organs do not get quieter or louder. they play one note and one dynamic. you only get louder by adding ranks, thus getting quieter by losing them.

    even more, it was wonderful.

my only criticism is that you should go for organ performance.

  • or by playing on enclosed ranks / using swell shutters ;)

  • With hearing you play, the Angels are surely singing. And adding your own touches to the piece, makes it extra special.

    david.

  • Beautiful job. I love the intro and outros! Nice touch.

  • A very astute ear! Yes, it is the 8' Trumpet.

  • Yes it does sound like a Schalmei. Wicks organs tend to be just a little different sounding compared to others. Almost like they are pitched up (kind of squeeky) this is by far one of the better WICKS that I have heard

  • Schön gespielt!!

    gefällt mir gut.

    Wie alt bist du?

  • I am 19 years old.

  • Decent playing - keep your your feet from sliding all the time, and don't put your feet so far forward on the black pedals, only your toes should touch the edge of the keys. What a Wicked Wicks - it sounds like it needs some work - that Mixture needs to be tuned! Keep up the good work though!

  • Another great hymn. Better camera angle this year as well as people over to your side instead of in front of you. Where is the piano?

  • Good God! You sure took on a big job playing for this Christmas Mass & Graduation last spring! What I really like is how you set the stops in your video's, perfect for the song and the occasion! You do not go "overboard" in playing organ too loud.

I have gone to other churches & there have been some complaints that the organist is going way too loud, and the organist was asked to "tone it down. The congregation really responding well with their singing! Your speed or rate of playing is great!

  • Great to see you back. We missed you here! And your playing is getting even better!
