The only reason they got more votes is because they had MORE candidates, but none of them could breakthrough. If they had the same amount of candidates they had in 2005, there vote would be down BTW. @rodoeman88 I don't think what you are saying is correct. I believe this year the BNP fielded 339 candidates and got 563,743 votes. In 2005 they fielded 117 candidates and got 192,746 votes. The candidate numbers have increased by 2.89 times, but the votes have increased by slightly more - 2.92 times. In a way what happened to the BNP was similar to company that is at risk of overtrading because it becomes too successful too quickly. The BNP will be back even stronger I am sure.

Five of the major financial BNP backers have withdrawn their support, the BNP website is down, they have lost an enormous amount of councilors. The only reason they got more votes is because they had MORE candidates, but none of them could breakthrough. If they had the same amount of candidates they had in 2005, there vote would be down BTW. This campaign was overstretched and too much was spent - the BNP is near bankruptcy.

@rodoeman88 I don't think what you are saying is correct. I believe this year the BNP fielded 339 candidates and got 563,743 votes. In 2005 they fielded 117 candidates and got 192,746 votes. The candidate numbers have increased by 2.89 times, but the votes have increased by slightly more - 2.92 times. In a way what happened to the BNP was similar to company that is at risk of overtrading because it becomes too successful too quickly. The BNP will be back even stronger I am sure.

@rodoeman88 Well the latest hope is that if proportional representation gets in now the Lib Dems have more influence, then the BNP could more easily get MPs that way. They may have lost the battle (in Barking, ect), but by no means have they ost the war so to speak. There is just too much at stake (the future of Great Britain) here and the BNP are used to the hard fight I know.

@rodoeman88 The BNP seem to have had some internal strife, but it's always going to be a struggle when you're a small party. It's very easy for LibLabCon to sit back and laugh at the BNP being overstretched and near bankruptcy when those parties are comprised mainly pf professional career politicians who don't have to work "day jobs". LibLabCon have been around for 100+ years They've had plenty of time to establish themselves a permanent gravy train.

@rodoeman88 It's true that if the BNP had fielded less candidates they would have received less votes, but that's true of every political party under a FPP system. If the Conservatives had fielded less candidates they would have received less votes. You only get a true representation of support under a PR system. In this election only half the constituencies had the opportunity to vote BNP, and they got 563,000+ votes. So one can assume that would double if everyone was given equal choices.

The unfair voting system we have right now isn't democracy. It's designed to keep the big parties permanently in power. How is it fair that a party gets 190,000 votes and wins a seat, yet a party with over half a million votes wins nothing? Or a party with 100,000 less votes than the BNP (like the SNP) wins 6 seats? The voting system is flawed. We need a Proportional Representation system
