oh lovey angora u have i am going to get one i going to get the giant angora my mum says i have to keep it in my room i am gonna build a c&c cage i have 4 guineapigs a dog and 3 male rabbits but the problem is if i get one would he be lonley coz i am 14 and i go to school 6 hours a day should i get 2 please answer but she is so cute
@theanimallover0013 Hi, I am going to be honest but I hope I don't come across too stern. Angoras are a lot of work. So just start off with one and see if you can handle the work. Please make time for your new rabbit. It sounds like you already have a good group of pets that need your time as well. I don't think he will get lonely, but all that fiber means he will take a little extra time to care for (assuming your other rabbits are not angora).
@Byrd968(had to split my reply) Learn about grooming, find a good blower, and if you are not going to use the fiber for spinning, keep your angora in a puppy-cut. I tried having this girl in my room, but it was just too confining for her and in the summer it was too hot (our house doesn't have AC). I found a outdoor cage (shown in video) and then a outdoor play-run (not shown in video, but I should have video'ed it because some people assume that the cage is all the space she got), but anyway
@Byrd968 Honestly, and don't be offended, I feel large angora rabbits (french/giant/german/ and english for their density) are better off in homes that are fiber fanciers. If you want a giant rabbit for a pet try looking into English lops, Flemish, or continental giants. If you like wooly looking rabbits, try looking at fuzzy lops or jersey wooly.
I toured a rabbitry here in Oregon about 10 years ago, it was August, & unbelievably hot and muggy. I asked the owner what she did to keep the bunnies from dying of the heat?
She told me she buys soda in 2 Liter bottles. The empties get filled 2/3's full of water, & into the freezer they go.
Every morning, whenever the temp goes over 75, she pops a bottle into each cage.
Also, the fans are ABOVE the cages, blowing "south" and BELOW the cages, blowing "north" for better air circulation
@DamiettadCarnivalle I like the east to west blowing personally, I noticed a north blow would kick up the poo's in the pan, and a south blow would well, not work for me because I use drop pans. But those are great ideas. I guess I should have added in the video, that if you let your rabbit get too chummy with condensation on the water bottles there is a risk of felting.
@grobanite19 no, not really. Angoras are super cute bunnies, But I feel they are better off with a home that works with the fiber. It can be a lot to deal with.
Be careful leaving your rabbits outdoors in a rabbit run. When I was a kid I kept my rabbits outdoors in a run in the summer and one day two roving pitbulls came out of nowhere, jumped the fence, and pulled my female rabbit out. Luckily she was a big girl so they had trouble getting a grip on her, and I heard her scream so I was able to go out and chase them off. She was so scared I'm surprised she didn't have a heart attack. :-(
thank you for all the info! I'm thinking of buying an angora just like yours and i was afraid of him over heating in the summer since all my rabbits are outdoors
Thanks!!! Very helpful! I live in NW Arkansas and it gets hot around July-September. Not much triple digits though. I've heard folks around here keep a frozen bottle of water and maybe a fan but that's it. I like your flat bottle and frozen veggies and icecubes for her ideas.
Helpful video. I'm thinking of getting an english angora soon. I'm in New Mexico and it's a lot dryer here. Do you know if that's better or worse for an angora?
awwwwwww she so fluffy like a big ball of fluff

Do angoras makeup good pets? I really want one, I have 3 cats and a little Chihuahua. Would you recommend getting one?

Cool ceramic tile floor! she will love it. My angora favor places of are:
1) Restroom with ceramic tiles. He also like to poop there, lol
2) Closet room
3) Places near air condition ventilation

Beautiful fluffy bunny! She looks well pampered, and I can tell how much you love her by the emotion in your voice.
I am considering getting an English Angora but I need to look more into their upkeep to make sure that it's not TOO strenuous.
