CELEBRATION IS ONLY A PEEK OF WHAT WALT HAD IN MIND... HAD WALT DISENY LIVED TO ACTUALLY SEE HIS* EPCOT, THE EXPERIMENTAL PROTOTYPE COMMUNITY OF TOMORROW, COME TO FULL FRUITION OF HIS WONDERFUL VISION, THIS IDEA OF CELEBRATION IS JUST A GLIMPSE OF WALT'S LAST DREAM FOR CLEAN, SAFE, NEIGHBORHOODS AND A WORKING COMMUNITY WHICH WOULD TRULY BE A MARVEL OF GOVERNMENTAL DESIGN. WALT WAS A GENIUS IN SO MANY WAYS. NO ONE TODAY COULD EVER DO WHAT HE DID IN HIS LIFETIME.
I’ve been to Celebration various times and while I can understand some people not caring the “Rockwellian” aesthetics or strict codes of the town, there nothing creepy about the village; it’s really pretty and from an architectural perspective, very well laid out. If you want multiculturalism you don’t go to a new urbanism community but rather to a more “established” city with a larger population demographic. If you want a really nice place to spend an afternoon, Celebration is for you.
Read in the UK that there is hardly any crime. I would like to know the road safety stats, how bad are the drivers over there? What mix of ethnic people actually live there? Where on earth are the cyclists? It looks ideal for cycling.
Home of the complacency - lol. To me this artificial town with its thousands of rules is just too creepy. Everybody acts as if he is hiding something - kinda reminds me of this movie "hot fuzz"...We're doing it for the greater good :D
@cyclepod1 i dont know, could be. But main reason for low crime rate is because there are police waching your every move and they tell if you do something wrong. The thing is, if you do something wrong they kick you out of town, rather then dealing with the problem. So i have heard.
@Troforso - oh good grief lol. It's funny how you never see any police in the Celebration videos, somebody said they were 'Disney Police'. It would make sense if the police were watching every move, it sounds like they are really tough then, I don't even see any graffiti which is really odd for an American town.Maybe taxes pay for more police than usual. Interesting stuff. I'd like to hear more about what the police here actually do.
@cyclepod1 i ment, lets just say they like to have a very good fasade. But behind the walls we can only imagine whats going on. When something looks to good to be true, it mostly is. But yea i guess the reason for little crime is the fact that folks dont dare to do it, else their kicked out of town.
@cyclepod1 - There are Police strictly Disney. Trash and water systems Disney too, and other things that now adays, no one, could even possibly get passed for corporate sponsorship. However, the Walt Disney Company was approved and the State allowed Mr Walt Disney to design and create how he envisioned. It could not be done today. So yes, there is a Police force is "Disney" at WDW and serving this community under the bylaws and regulations of what is established in order to live there.
Some days ago there was an reportage in the Tv, it was called: Celebration - savest town of earth and i have to say it is. Clean, friendly and save. Best town for Family´s and the architecture is very nice too. 5*
yea my cousin lives their, and my family was walking along fine and happy, and this family passes by on a bike, and the youngest girl about 7 or 8? (LITTLE YOUNG GIRL!!) goes psh!.. with a nasty face to my little sister... its harsh, they think they're all that because they live at celebration.. ugh -___-
Nope. The Truman show was filmed in Seaside, Florida - also a real town, not a set as many people think. Both towns were built according to 'New Urbanism' concept.
ya.. celebration is good place- clean ig.. lol. there is noin for teens. we mostly go to starbucks and then go to downtown disney and we do w/e. there r a lot of stuck up ppl-sadly the rich ppl r not the stuck up ones. but ya.. my famiy owns a store in celebration. we reinvented it so it survives. we have owned it a year and we made a huge profit. and the tourists r really annoying-srry ppl who visit but i meant it as ppl who steal or trash our homes
@gdwtwilight - in the paper in the UK they said there was little crime, is that a myth then? Where I am the teenagers vandalise, but surely this happens in every town, including Celebration. It is a really curious village, I wonder if people are happy here.
A town with no filth, no outcasts, poor people or people of different opinions. How... refreshing? If I ever wanted to live in a doll house, Celebration would be a great place to start.
@Mjolle - yes, it must be boring being stuck with ppl with the same opinions. I live in a ghetto of white people where I am, it is very boring. I look forward to going to London and mixing with all sorts. I wonder how friendly Celebration is. I think the lack of major crime is really interesting.
Max's x3 thought it "market street" has been up forever. And dont forget this week is the PIEEE FESTIVAL !!! xD thats fun for teens fi you go with your friends...U going?
@ThemMilkyWayy - What is there to do for young people? What about going on the bike somewhere, are there cycle paths, what about sports grounds, swimming etc.

I read that they have to use the 'correct compost'. That is getting a bit silly.

@kadenamarina You are pretty much the master of redundancy. And so is this endlessly repeating 12 bars of music.

@Troforso - yes, it can be looked as 'suspect'. You wonder how a person who is an ethnic community for example, is actually treated there.
