@jdivision79 Agreed, not sure how morales won this one. Barrera outworked him and always stayed either inside or outside of Morales' best range for thw whole fight.
Barrera was a 6-1 underdog$#*%^#^!%? Wonder how the oddsmakers arrived at that. If I were Morales, I woulda' seriously thought about putting up my guarantee on Barrera and throwing the fight.
This decision was bullshit. At least now that I'm watching it for the third time since it happened, I'm sort of outraged. I believe the rounds look close, but Barrera blocks a lot of Morales's big shots. It appears to me that Barrera has won 6 out of the first 7 rounds. The closes it could possibly be right now is 4-2 in favor of Barrera. I'll have to see the rest, but so far Barrera has been better.
this commentator needs to get off barrera's dick. If you were just listening to his comments you would think this was the most one sided fight in history!
Who ever called the fight, needs to shut up...he is calling the whole fight..should have just done it himself...i bet he dont get his job back....worst partner ever to call the fight...one man show...great fight though...
@SonnyBlizak Yes, we can see the punches being thrown. Don Dunphy was the best commentator because he said a lot less, but made every word count. This guy is like a radio commentator, only he speaks more !
Latino fighters always fascinate me. They don't have the most ripped physics, but they are among some of the most battle hardened fighters in the sport. Probably has to do with the culture. Very tough fight to judge. Barrera seems to land higher quality shots, but he also gets in a lot of low blows. Morales has amazing hand speed, but constantly gets crowded, thus reducing the damage of his shots. My conclusion...awesome fight!!!
@rollyization They are the great fighters who gave some of the best fights in boxings history before Pacquiao was even considered good. They are the guys who were battling hall of famers, and each other in wars before Pac was known anywhere but the Phillipines. If you don't know, and I know you're just being a dickhead, then all you are is a little fanboy faggot of one man. Learn something about BOXING before spouting your mouth off.
@rollyization they guy in white shorts.. with the "tijuana" legend.. fuck the shit out of pacquio ... you can watched again and again here on youtube.. morales vs pacquio 1..
@cnullify If only they had been around while Chavez was still fighting. Can you imagine any of those guys vs Chavez? Those fights would have been absolutly EPIC!
@xBMF9000x Marquez would've beat Chavez; Barrera-Chavez would've been a very good fight! But Chavez Vs Morales, that would've been an absolutely out-of-this-world boxing extravaganzza!!! Blood, guts, deadly blows to the body and the head, damn!!!
@RatedRKingofKings I know, right? I would give just about anything to see any of those guys in a fight with Chavez. All of them would be throwbacks. I will say this though, at the rate that Chavez's son is going, he may end up being as good as his father was. He still has a long way to go for that but his style is almost exactly like his father's. In fighting all the way, working the body like a freakin' drum, AND he can take a punch.
@xBMF9000x I'm not sure that Jr will ever be as good as his father was. We haven't seen him taking a punch already, just take a look at the big dogs that he would have to go through to be the very best in 160 pound division: Martinez, Williams, Pavlik, even Margarito. And if he gains weight, as boxers naturally do at a young age, he will have to face monstruous hitters: Bute, Ward, Abraham... and if he goes down to 154, Cotto, Clottey, Angulo... good luck!!! Won't last long
@cnullify some sick ring savvy by Morales at the end of the 7th..he got hit but, he faked being rocked..no way he comes up firing the way he did after getting hurt like that. They took/gave some serious shots. Awesome fights.
@cnullify ps..wtf was the ref doing during the 1,234 low blows...sum were smart and thrown while the ref was on the other side but..there were sum hooks to the groin, right in front of his face.
@cnullify So far, it's been the only great modern rivalry and the only one to compare the last great era of rivalry in the 60s, 70s, and 80's of Heavies and the Four Kings. It's just a pity that Pac came along when they were at the end of their primes and at the start of his. If the four had all been fighting together in their primes at 126 (and Pac had been a bit older to equal the primes of Morales, Barrera Marquez), it might have been the only modern rivalry to equal the greats of the past.
@cnullify Even so, it may be the last great rivalry we ever see in boxing. Those types of rivalries are dying with it. Even this was ruined in part by matches not being made in timely fashion and money/greed/corruption taking away from the fights and fighters being past it. Sadly, we will never again see anything to compare to the greats of old. From Duran-Leonard to Ali-Frazier, we can only dream of ever seeing such greatness. Instead we have Pac-Money bickering, fighting old shot guys, etc...
Man, Barrera really took over this fight. I gave him all those rounds and I got him up 86-85
