Lol thats awesome but a bad idea. Once my dad was riding with his friends and they hit water and his friend was behind him and the spray came up and hit his helmet. The water froze and he couldnt see anything and didnt know if he was on snow or water yet. Not a huge deal but they were riding the river so if you go through, you get swept under the ice.
yes it is lol. whole reason y people do it for the risk. and no not 10k dollars quit unless u wanna watercross a 550lbs z1 turbo. but no buy a really nice sled for about $3000 and yeah u b ight. dont have to exactly do lakes but ponds and shit u can easily get ur sled running again to in bout a hour.
you must be one of the riders that stays on the trail the entire time eh? lol. jk man, but if you have and riding ability at all you will be fine, just make sure your motor has the power to spin the track, bigger paddle are better, i do it w/a 1.5 w/ease. and i always buy my sled a couple years old. let the "other guy" take the big hit. uk?
Um.. Correct me if I'm wrong.. But isn't the whole idea to give it just enough throttle so it stays afloat. Not too much because it will move the water out of the way and sink. Not to little or it will just stall.
two years ago three guys hit open water at night.. one turned and made it, one sank immediately and the guy died. The third went two and a half miles over open water. Horse power and track design are everything. Look it up. Sebago lake Maine
uhh... ur retated. look at some more vids of waterskipping snowmachines. the snowmobile 'rides' on the water it doesnt just skip. the track propels it on the water and it stays on top. u can accelerate and slow down on water. u dont absolutely need momentum...
There was a CAT in our group that was just at home on the water as it was on the trails. The new RevXP is a trail eating machine but it's still up in the air on the water crossings. The only sled I would not suggest is any Yamaha. Unless your a diver and a body builder!
Glad to hear it. The atv's do a number on the snowmobile trails. Here in Massachusetts the season is too short and not always predictable, so when someone destroys the trails GRRRR.
If it sinks, and you can fish it out, yeah you can dry it out but you'll have to go through and drain the oil and the fuel and depending on how long the water was in there maybe rebuild the engine.
That was pretty Sick .. ?Been try to go also but my friends are retarted and wont go .. I have another sled .. Does anybody no if a skidoo formula deluxe 600 can hit water?
water skipping is a rush no need for drugs for those who say its not cool or shouldnt do it well stay home and watch you tube while we go out and have a blast
If your any kind of prepared snowmobiler you always have a cell phone and a rope to pull someone to safety or your sled somewhere to be fixed weather you plan something like this or not!
The closest living thing near this area is a pair of Bald Eagles. I'm not so sure they could help save your life let along write you a ticket! NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY would have been a better opening I guess.
Between the Paradise/Tahquamenon River and Bay Mills. Closer to Bay Mills. If you ride the shore line of Lake Superior you may ride right into it. We were there last year and this river mouth was frozen over.
holy cow man! must've been fun!!! i live up here in the north where the "eskimos" Inuit live and we do that with ocean water about a hundred feet deep, and 10-15 feet isn't that much, and ski-doos seriously can do that
Your right. We had one guy riding an Apex GT and almost submarined it. If it wasn't for the power and all the throttle it would take... It was a close call to say the least.
you guys are pretty brave. i live in michigan and that is probally one of the most deadly inland lakes in the USA. i wouldnt even trust it to ride on the ice. great video tho
i do this every spring here in nome alaska on my 01 xcsp 500 sounds SICK over the water it was echoing all through the town when i went skipping but i put 9000 miles on it and is now burnt up sitting i my yard with a chip in the piston and scratches in both cylinders. will post a video of it when i fix it for winter lol
You dumbass!! Of course its real. Lake Superior is deep as hell, my guess is they were in at least 10-15 feet of water Being that far off shore. Sleds are faster on water than most JetSkis.
Honestly, mxzx08 is right, every bit of 10'-15'. If your sled went down you weren't getting it back until spring. The current would have put into 100' of water by the time you got to it! This section of open water is at the mouth of a large river that carves out everything from the ice to the rocks on the bottom. If you watch closely you can see one sled had water spray on the clutch. He almost went down. He would be the last sled to hit land. Every sled in the video is stock!
i herd i was gong to a snowmobile watercross, an d i thought, ok, they get up some speed and cross some shallow water, but to my suprise they went around this lake like jet ski's can't belive it till you see it, and yes some sunk but it was incredible!
