You can't really choose one engine over the other, because they're both nearly indestructible engines making similar power with tons of potential. Two of the greatest engines ever made hands down.

I love both engines, buy my favorite would be the 2JZ.... when you have a race like that, the engines aren't even comparable!! You have two different cars, with different horsepower ratings, etc... now if you had a 2J in an S14, and RB in an S14, with about the same wheel hp... then you would have a fair race to see which motor dominates the other throughout the rpm range!! Very nice cars though!!
yeah but heres the diff. the rb26 didnt come in a 240sx. it came in a skyline gtr. its made for peak performance in the balance and awd tranny of the gtr.

One reason i'd go 2JZ over any RB engine; parts availability! Since the Supra TT is in the US its a lot easier to get parts, even tho the RB importers have many parts for those also. I just like to know that MANY people in the US tune the 2JZ, much fewer w/ the RB's because of importing.
RB26 has a deeper sexier sound to it, i like 2jz's but the skyline is soo much better handles more power and beats the supra's ass stock in my opinion...
@lilmarv08 This is the bottom line, 2jz is extreme dominance, PERIOD! The only thing that has a skyline ahead for a second is it's awd system,, that's it. You will never see someone swap their 2jz with anything aside to bigger turbo, but when it comes to other owners no matter wether its american or european; even skylines have somehow decided to go with a 2jz swap. Why? It's pretty self explanitory, you just can't destroy it! It's your power slave and the tuning potential is endless.

I love both engines, buy my favorite would be the 2JZ.... when you have a race like that, the engines aren't even comparable!! You have two different cars, with different horsepower ratings, etc... now if you had a 2J in an S14, and RB in an S14, with about the same wheel hp... then you would have a fair race to see which motor dominates the other throughout the rpm range!! Very nice cars though!!

yeah but heres the diff. the rb26 didnt come in a 240sx. it came in a skyline gtr. its made for peak performance in the balance and awd tranny of the gtr.

I will leave it just how it is now, pretty good shape for being so old, hardly any rust, a scratch here, small dent there, and it will all just make it more of a sleeper!! ;)

I figured, "Hey, I have the most badass pathfinder in the world probably, I am happy with my 400+ hp, 5-speed, it looks pretty good, its fun to drive.... @SupraKid98 wow, ok, think about it this way. who else has a pathfinder period, not to many people, because its kind of old, now who has a 400+hp pathfinder with a sr20det engine -thats turbo right?- and a 300zx tranny, and who knows what else your gonna take from a really nice street car and put it in your pathfinder, now if u polish it up and who knows, maybe give it a nice paint job so it doesnt look like your ordanary car from the outside, OF COURSE a magazine would try and publish it!!

mmdaniels. your a fucking retard. i know of a supra right now thats stock making 870hp stock internals. my supra makes 520 hp..stock. all i did was fmic. exhaust and turbo. untuned. stock jdm aristo 2jzgte.. look on youtube for 2jz mk3 night drive. no tractiontill 4th. on 275/40/17. i owned a rb26 and 2jzgte. rb26s cost 5k and 2jz cost 1700. rb26 has a crank snout problem. so rebuild it once you buy it. so before you post talking shit. get your facts stright

One reason i'd go 2JZ over any RB engine; parts availability! Since the Supra TT is in the US its a lot easier to get parts, even tho the RB importers have many parts for those also. I just like to know that MANY people in the US tune the 2JZ, much fewer w/ the RB's because of importing.

@lilmarv08 This is the bottom line, 2jz is extreme dominance, PERIOD! The only thing that has a skyline ahead for a second is it's awd system,, that's it. You will never see someone swap their 2jz with anything aside to bigger turbo, but when it comes to other owners no matter wether its american or european; even skylines have somehow decided to go with a 2jz swap. Why? It's pretty self explanitory, you just can't destroy it! It's your power slave and the tuning potential is endless.

@raterdos tuning potenial is not endless it usually it ends at 1300hp for R34s and 1500hp for 2jzs thank you for your opinion but as it may be, its just your opinion..no proof = to an opinion....2jz's and rb26's cant handle nearly as much power and torque as a V8 seriously now thats proof...V8 go pass 8000hp ,remember there is no REPLACEMENT for DISPLACEMENT... rb26's are my fav tuner engines tho

Obviously my prefrence is 2jz being a loyal Toyota enthusiasts, but i do like Nissans and old school Mazda rotaries; even old american muscle so you can say i'm a car guy. The 2jz is more appealing to your brauny stupid muscle car american. Where the rb26 is a more high revving response engine. Plus americans dont have the ability to get there hands on the engine either.
