The only reason this mode is useful (restarting and making it into a hardrive mode) is because you won't be charging your ipod when in this mode, so you won't ruin your battery.

There is an application called iPod Viewer which can download any song from your iPod that's synced to another computer. You can use it to download the songs and import them into iTunes.

well, more of a flash drive, if you tried using it as an HD, by booting off of it, and having an OS on it, it would be possible, but rrrreeeeeaaallllyyy slow HD, because USB 2.0 is really slow, buut, if you had a firewire 800 connection, then it would actually work, but still a little slow due to it being flash memory. And if someone is stupid enough to say, u cant install an OS on your iPod, DUH! Well, then you would be an idiot. Allocate it, then format it, duh.

Change it back to a normal iPod after your done using it as a hardrive, the files will sill be there the next time you make it back to a hardrive.

kind of but not really, because every ipod except classic uses flash memory, flash memory is specificly designed to store a certain item, but turning it to a hardrive makes it compatible with everything.

it doesn't because the video formats that are accepted on the ipod are not accepted on the xbox. For example, the ipod reads mp4 and the xbox reads wmv. it won't work because of that. You can listen to your music from iPod when it is connected to the xbox because both read mp3 files.

When you put it into that "Hardrive Mode", your iPod won't charge which means when you plug ur iPod in to use it as a hardrive, it won't wreck the battery for charging, unplugging and repeating these steps.
