It's a blues in the key of A min. Any song like that will have similarities. There are only 12 notes (not including octaves) in the western music system. You can't sue somebody for using the same notes. Otherwise, nobody could release anything without getting sued. Pentatonic scales in E or A are used everywhere because of the way standard tuning opens up the fretboard for the various positions. Great song, either way.
this is not a rip-off. its very similar to gamma so is Sexual harrassment in the workplace by zappa...chord intro and scales used to solo with are similar...go figure
Ronnie hasn't sued because the notes are completely different. The effect is the same but, unless you are tone deaf, you can tell Ronnie is playing a completely different set of notes.
Listen to the riff / echo effect here @ 1:32. This band must reside up Montrose's rectum. Now search the GAMMA song called RAZOR KING and listen to the solo guitar part in the middle. Ripping off Montrose yet again.......
@schenkerV You called it. It's a total rip-off. I loved this one until I read your post and listened to Voyager - Gamma. Thanks a lot!! : ) Ignorance is bliss... maybe I can look at it as another version, even though they chose to take the credit. Thanks
Thank you for all the great memories. This takes me back to a time when rock was good, love was HOT, and nothing could stop me. Damn those were good days!
One can't help but wonder that the record industry is corrupt, I mean, complete shit like Lady ga ga and her ilk are selling records by the millions, Then you get a Great band like these guys whom quite clearly, have more musical talent than Maddona could ever hope for, and they get ignored (present company withstanding of course) This song is just one of many gems they have written, This song still gives me a buzz, even after all these years
The record industry simply sells what sells well, It's the media brainwashing together with urban generation of MTV-oriented consumers which made music like this ignored and "old-fashioned".
The house of broken love song is classic, but it was also incredible. I loved this vidieo, and my name is Haley Chatman and i'm only 10 years old, and i'm voting on You Tube. oh baby, this music is very very very good, and i hope that there's more music on you tube. I'm in to wrestlingtoo.
I saw them open for Kiss. and had they turned them up it would have shamed KIss. Also saw them in the late 90's in a local club that would hold a couple hundred and they like to blew the roof off of the joint. If you dont have most of their cd's you missing a treat.
I think that after thousands times that i listened this song, well, yeah, i'll never get bored it....fuck, it's the meaning of Rhythm' n' Blues...In my heartbeat, yeah yeah...
One of the best 80 tunes of all time! Ive got a Conrad Johnson Premier 11A tube amp and Proac 2.5s speakers and believe me the guitar work and that damn bass is the best to the heart!
The 80's rolled on, one of the worst decades in the world, if not THE worst. Through all the glamor and glitter, it was sickening. But, in the end, it was all forgiven, because of what Great White has brought us.
Wow, I have not heard this song in ages! I always loved this song. Ironically enough, at the very beginning, I noticed that the black worn by the one guitarist looks just like one that Stevie Ray Vaughn played in some of his videos:-)
The lead runs in this are rad as hell, nice and controlled unlike pretty much every guitar solo from this era. No 64th note retarded sweeping or tapping, fits the song perfectly.
i first seen great white in belfast 1989 when they played along with brittany foxx supporting alice cooper and i mean no disrespect to the other bands but great white wiped the floor with them that night ,such a great band who never gor the credit they so richly deserved
Classic! I was a teenager in the 80s and remember watching this video for the first time on the Headbanger's Ball, most likely sitting with my guitar in my lap... ah, the good old days :) Hey please check out my latest video - it's a collaboration put together by me and several other musicians paying tribute to Great White by performing their hit "Lady Red Light" as a virtual band (we even have a hot chick in it, just like the 80s LOL). I hope you enjoy it! :)

I couldn't agree more with the comments on these guys being under rated. One of the best bands of the 80's by far. Yes they had the glam thing going at some points but you can actually feel the emotion when these guys perform, unlike the superstars of the time like Montley Crue and Poison who were only in it for the fame, sex, drugs, and rock n roll. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but for them it more about just playing and having fun then it was about the music.
Years ago there was this guy who was a dead ringer for Great White's frontman. The only discrepancy is that he was 6-feet tall, where the person he imitated is a shorty. But, no one noticed that. The imposter cut his hair and wore the clothes for the part and spent a couple years living as an imposter. He ended up doing time, but there was an interview where he said it was all worth it... the women, the perks... etc. Can't remember the crook's name.
It's a fun and relatively easy song to play on guitar too; both rhythm and lead... even bass if you're into the low notes. Years ago I could play any part start to finish, alone or to the record. Oddly, I never saw this video until here on Youtube. I may have to pick up the old SG2 and see what I remember of it.
@RumikXxeno No. This actress is Bobbi Brown who you might remember from the "Once Bitten Twice Shy" video, she was also the deceased singer Jani Lane's girlfriend and is the actress in the "Cherry Pie" video where they met. The girl in the Don't Cry video was Axl Rose's former girlfriend Stephanie Seymour who is a brunette.
someone somewhere HAS to create a Heavy Metal/Heavy Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Abba in the R&RHOF?! LL Cool J?! And Great White isn't? some fucking thing is seriously wrong here.
@skytree76 My Friend, this SHIT , R&RHOF is made it JUST BY ALBUMS SELLINGS, not by TRUE VALUE....so ABBA, o POP BAND, had sald 100 mil albums, but is 100% oposite to rok!!!!...LL Cool J is ABSOLUTE ZERO, but it's black, and it's good for the peace of the Earth to put some blacks in this fucking Hall of Shit...Guns n' roses it's?Alice Cooper?Malmsteen?Steve Vai?DREAM THEATER?I don't know, i just ask?But what have i seen at 25th anniversary, it's A SHAME!!!.. old fucks withou any value...

we live in a mindless time . Music is a dead thing now ....no real playing of instruments...sound engineers sell meat without talent but it looks good in a fabrication video.......pornlike is music now...rap is crap....we all know good music....i tried to master the guitar.....not enough desire...wont practice twelve hours a day....now i am older and not pretty enough to be on a rock video...fingersynch ???
I saw these guys open for Alice Cooper in 1986. I wasn't really a fan until after the show. They sounded great live and encouraged me to buy the cassette, remember those hehe
This song is their best in my opinion...its just a little different if you feel what I mean. Almost feels like there should be a stripper on a pole nearby lol
Saw these guys with Tesla at Red Rocks in Colorado back in 1986. Still the most amazing sounding concert I've ever been to. Neither band has ever received enough credit. House of Broken Love is the kind of song you turn off all the lights, lay on the bed with your eyes closed, crank up the volume, and just let the music penetrate every fibor of your soul.
@MsCooper011 Your Right...It speaks to ya...it make's you think about life and love's lost it speak's to the heart...it's more Individually...If one listen's..?
@MsCooper011 Couldn't agree with you more! I used to lay on the floor with my big speakers pointed at my head with a a six pack & candles. 25 years sober on the 22nd miss those days, but the sound is still incredible. Now a YouTube addict!
Great White rocks with this song. I've seen them in concert twice and everytime I'm breathless and in heaven when I hear them play. No more computer music!
what a sound what the fuck has happened to the music of today people listen to some fucked up rap and gaga wasters the lot of um rock and blues all the way
WOW>>THOSE WERE THE DAYS...!!I saw them open for Ratt and Poison and Cinderella..Before the station fire..They should of been opening for them..All of the great artists have set the best of the best..today's version(majority but not all)Are carbon copies of these old music!!

@MsCooper011 Saw them with Tesla and Badlands in Fall of '89...best concert I have ever attended!!

@MsCooper011 Couldn't agree with you more! I used to lay on the floor with my big speakers pointed at my head with a a six pack & candles. 25 years sober on the 22nd miss those days, but the sound is still incredible. Now a YouTube addict!
