I like the spin that people against same sex marriage are "defending" traditional marriage. Bear in mind, same sex marriages have been law in Massachusetts since 2004. The only difference here now is that we look a little less for reasons to separate ourselves from our neighbors and we look a little more at what our neighbors contribute to the well being of the community as a whole. Hate is not an American value; it is part of our history, and that's where it should stay.

Obama is not obliged to defend an unconstitutional law. The law is so blatantly unfair that its days are numbered. Defending it in courts will only cost money and will not have achieved anything in the long run. This is not a fight NOM can win. I retain my rights through the separation of church and state (1st Amendment) as marriage is a contract issued by the state, and also through the 14th Amendment which guarantees due process and equal protection of the law.

I like the spin that people against same sex marriage are "defending" traditional marriage. Bear in mind, same sex marriages have been law in Massachusetts since 2004. The only difference here now is that we look a little less for reasons to separate ourselves from our neighbors and we look a little more at what our neighbors contribute to the well being of the community as a whole. Hate is not an American value; it is part of our history, and that's where it should stay.

As long as homosexuals are willing to live harmoniously with the fact that the
male/female dynamic is natural and necessary for human survival (BEYOND
mere procreation) AND if they can learn NOT TO IMPOSE THEIR DANGEROUS

In the USA, the majority cannot tyrannize a minority...no matter how many people think they can. It is unconstitutional to treat other Americans unequally under the law and it's unconstitutional to put the rights of other Americans up to a popularity vote. Anti-gay activists can live as they like. They cannot, however, redefine the Constitution for the rest of us.

@SAYYOURROSARY Any functioning democracy has innate safeguards built in to prevent the majority from usurping and abusing the democratic process to browbeat and coerce the minority in submission to their will.
A democracy is not always fair to the minority. That is to be expected. But a democracy exists to tolerate the views of the minority, and to give them a fair hearing — that is what sets it apart from all other forms of government.

I retain my rights through the separation of church and state (1st Amendment) as marriage is a contract issued by the state, and also through the 14th Amendment which guarantees due process and equal protection of the law.

But I'm sure even someone with a degree in Theology knows that the Judicial branch of government interprets the constitution--especially when something isn't written it black and white...and they're determined that marriage is a civil right protected by the constitution 14 times.

you obviously do NOT know much of this subject, LT.
NO, you CANNOT choose your ethnicity, nor can you choose your gender.
But, ironically, homosexualists say that you CAN choose your gender.
This is not true. You can only disguise it. As far as sexual orientation,
heterosexuality is the natural instinct we are born with as according

What about non-atheists who DON'T practice religion? Did you forget them?
2) People get depressed because of a lack of inner strength and/or self-esteem.
Morally supportive parents, regardless of religion, are more likely to raise
healthy, mentally-balanced children who recognize men and women as
ESSENTIALS as opposed to adversaries. Don't blame religion for
why children REBEL against their parents!

It's not wanting to rebel; some people are devastated when they realize they aren't straight.
