Hello i would really like for you to get back to me about the canon 550d.
The thing i would really like to know, is that when you are recording a video can you adjust the settings like the apture and the shutter speed and all that when you are recording a video
This is not the correct way to do this, you should keep your shutter setting to 50 to keep a film 'look' rather than it looking like nice video. You should use an Neutral Density filter to bring down the light level to allow you to run the lens iris wide or near to wide open.
basically this just affirmed that my kit lens isnt cutting it for the effect im looking for. I thank you for the information, was well presented and mostly accurate
he has confusions with aperture, shutter n ISO.........all these elements together called as an exposure......he uses d word exposure for shutter its a huge mistake......greater depth of fied can be acheived by using lower f stop means wide opening of the aperture...........
instead of changing d shutter speed dis dude could hav set d iso manually to reduce d noise n recomened shutter speed while shooting a movie at 24fps n 25fps is 1/50 n while shooting at 30fps is 1/60th of a second n while shooting at 60fps d shutter speed must be doubled to1/125..........dis video s tool long wit minimum n common content
Thank you so much for this video tutorial. This is best, most clear and streamlined description of how to get depth of field using DSLR's with APS-C sensors. I've purchased two highly recommended DSLR books and videos that are convoluted and scattered when it comes to assisting folks in getting the one major feature shooters using DSLR's for video are looking for.
@jehfree562 You can to some extend create this effect with the kit lens. Your best option would be to use the information in this video - play with your settings and see what you can do!
Have you ever used this lens when filming handheld shots? I hear that the 50mm lenses don't have IS so appear really shaky when filming handheld, have you found that?
@comp144 generally, we use the lens when the camera is mounted on a tripod or dolly. Even if the lens has image stabilisation - it can still prove to make for an unsteady shot, simply due to the fact that holding an SLR camera like the Canon 550D (T2i) like that can be difficult. There are shoulder mounts and steadicam style devices out there which can help improve the stability of DSLR cameras for handheld work, these vary in cost and range greatly.
what's the difference between Canon 550D and Canon550D body ?

If you have a Canon DSLR and you change the lenses on it, then you probably already know how to create shallow DOF or (BOKEH!!!)

@dopeyfries No we don't own any other canon cameras. However, the process and controls are going to be effectively the same across the range.
