okay well i have a problem and i need help. I just got the card and Ive noticed that only ONE of my GPU processors are being used... and im up to date Ive double checked and all my parts can run the card. and i just cant get the second GPU to run! any suggestions please?
What I don't understand is why he's running multiple benchmarks as Pyrit should be using all the cards in tandem to run all of the workloads, so you should only run one.
Other things I've found when running multigpu cards like a 4870x2 is Crossfire needs to be disabled to get the full processing power out of each core using the command "aticonfig --adapterall --cfd" then running "aticonfig --adapter=all --initial -f" to create a fresh xorg.conf file. When you reboot you'll have few new displays
@blackkanto show up which normal but might be a bit annoying as you won't see your stock desktop.
Also, I had an issue with getting the second gpu to get out of 2D mode when running stuff. You can check it with "aticonfig --adapterall --odgc". I ended up having to flash the bioses ( there's a master and slave bios, one for each GPU) with RBE - Radeon BIOS editor in Windows to get it to ramp up to the 3D clocks.
@TheCoolSkateboarder He don't need the crossfirebridges, besides, they only have one crossfireport (probably due to that windows only can handle 4GPU's unlike Linux).
@woNeMdaeR Install the latest driver from ATI and run "aticonfig -f --initial --adapter=all" as root
How did you setup mutliple GPU in linux? (more than 3 HD5970 and more). Cause my motherboard has 4 pcie-exp slots and windows can only see 4 gpu max. So I want to move to linux just for this reason cause I have four Hd5970 too.
"windows can only see 4 max" thats a myth Windows can see as many GPU's as your board will support. This myth springs from two things, the controller and southbridge in alot of boards will only support up to four cards. its also springs from bitcoin miners where there client program for windows only supports four cards. i have seen windows machines with upwards of 8 GPU's, though they used a dual xenon board rather than your standard ATX motherboard.
Kind of a low count for the number of cards you are using. Looks like you are only getting use of half the GPU's. Considering 4 5870's gets the same benchmark.
Command prompt be the best test for this system. I think changing color settings would take it a bit too far though - so leave it on black and white. We have to wait for 6970's for that.
why do you dont use liquid cooling for it i meen then you wont have the problem with the blocked fans but nice rig i have only my appreciated gtx 470 XD
me : intel core i7 860/ 8gb ddr 3 / lower class card --1x Ati Radeon HD 5870(2 gb version) Pyrit Benchmark does up to 90 000 PMK/s :) less expensive than HD 5970

I have the same case but only one 5970.You should watercool the cards because 3 of the 4 will be overheated.

How is it that you can afford 4 5970s but not windows? XD
JackomanTheThird 1 year ago
@JackomanTheThird What are you talking about? He is doing a PMK benchmark with Pyrit, which does not support windblows.
ICDWILL117 11 months ago
@ICDWILL117 I didnt say anything about Pyrit or PMK's, by all means use Linux, I use linux, I was just curious lol
JackomanTheThird 11 months ago
I saw three benchmarks running. Is your total PMK/s the sum of those three readings?

ooh nice.. but isn't it getting hot because of blocked fans?
negerauto123 1 year ago
@negerauto123 theyre actually not bad, i run 2 5770s side by side and most of the heat comes out the back or side of the card.

Nice! Thank you for sharing! Did you also use OpenCL 1.1 + ATI 2.2 SDK with pyrit ? Just curious... Keep up the GREAT work!! :)
