The ship was big enough to actually hold an olympus stylus 720 SW waterproof camera which was precariously balanced on the bow deck but this would have fallen overboard if it was not dead calm....the camera is also water proof for up to 10 feet!
@sanddragon99 Thanks, I was thinking of doing something similar to that, and I wasn't sure what camera to get, and yours seemed good, but now that you said the water had to be calm otherwise to camera would fall, I'll try to find a smaller camera.
I like seeing models move at scale speeds, especially in "mill pond" conditions. Beautiful ship, like the underwater shots. Please don't get bored and blow it up . . . .
It should already have a motor, and a gear box as well as 3 proppeller shafts!...I bought a cheap toy RC boat at Wallmart and wired in all the parts as well as rigged both rudders to work...there is an internal balsa wood frame fore the rudder servo rigg...modeling clay was used for ballast too!..Speed ard range as well as turning were not very good ,if it sailed beyond 50 feet it might cut out!....the antenna was inside lying flat!...does not turn on a dime at all!
Is this the Tamiya one? I have one also but I want to put a motor in it but I don't know what kind of motor, servo, and other things to get. Can you help please?
@halwag im sorry... but it was sent out from okinawa to stop the rapidly advancing US forces frolm hitting the homeland... It was not given enough fuel to make a return trip...
Got this model kit by chance at a Hobby shop in Miami...I actually built this kit twice so If I do it a 3rd time I will perfect my Rc micro building skills and even add micro cut wood decks and photo etched brass parts!... I gave this to a good friend of mine!
@seanthecomentator Tamiya the model company makes a great (albeit old) 1/350th scale Yamato and Musashi. They retail anywhere from $60-100 at most major hobby shops.
Really Neat model, yes I have the Tamiya 1/350 Battleship Yamato aswell, and am trying to build it RC aswell. But yours looks great in this shallow water :)
Use of Olympus sports camera that is water resistant up to 10 feet ... these type of cameras are being made more available so you can take a dive or dip your hand in the water and see what a fish would see!
i do i never see a south dakota class battle ship or a mighty mo someone should make them and sell them cuz seriously i want somthing american all i can find is bismark and yamatos
I don't really sell my model ships except for ships inside the bottle but I do have memorys of building the Revell kit Uss Arizona and the Misouri, I hardly post anything on Kit built models because I mainly focus on scratch building entire ships.
I find the Japanese kits most interesting and the most complicated.
@sanddragon99 ya i seen tamiyas 1/350and 1/700 scale iowa class they have 3 out of 4 but not my favorite the wisconsin (bb64) my grandpa served on it.(he was there when it hit the uss eaton almost runinmg it over!

Historically, the Jap Imperial Navy battleship, largest in world in WW2,
sailed out in 1945 to attack US forces near Iwo Jima,
but without air cover, and was attacked and sunk.
End of Imperial J Navy and, after A-bombs, end of WW2.
