Yes, it seems real. I think there was an enormous damage to image of Tai Chi Chuan caused by literal translation of things from Chinese language and, even worse, from Chinese mentality. Now, slowly, we're starting to see men like Michael Philips, Stephen Hwa and some others who explain so called "mysteries" in the way western people can actually get and adopt. Thanks for sharing.
I've tried to cultivate this Chi,Ki,chakra, energy stuff but with simple physics, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and the like you can accomplish all of this without "Mystery" Thats what drove me nuts in Dim Mak and ninjitsu and aikijitsu. to me it all comes down to coordination, kinesisthetic perception, and training. I mean even with firearms, or other weapons, and tactics, it boils down to what you remember when your mind goes blank and your heart is pounding. Necessity builds real skill
Once again sorry to find doubt, i respect you as an instructor, but the stuff i learned from JKD and wing chun, as well a tien chen pai I found alot of the trapping or defensive, deflective type stuff even if I used simply leverage, as opposed to straight force I could just as easily ward off strikes as the softer guys. Not to mention My one inch punch and trapping hands were stronger and broke the balance fairly easily. I think over internal/precision is too much for real combat and breaks down
@junfan4 Please bear in mind and I know it's difficult to understand but learn Tai Chi Chuan is about learning real combat. Tai Chi was developed and used against military applications of swords and some of the best military men on the planet. So it's trite to say it's not useful. What isn't is the level of the practitioner. If you fight against someone that isn't proficient then you come away with a bad impression of the system.
"Do you understand?"
Murmors of "yeah, yes" from the crowd.
"Siiiigh. I hope so."
lol... thanks for sharing. :)

Whether in a "real fight" or competition, these skills allow one to easily unbalance an opponent then have your way with them...
