According to what I hear & see for that matter any Loyalty that Doug Strawn had for Richard Carpenter is out the window, especially being that he has Little Girl Blue on his Facebook page. Being part of The Carpenters is FOREVER. Doug should write a real Carpenters book, not a pamphlet like Mr. Schmidt did. Strawn has alot of fans, myself being his biggest, but Little Girl Blue Doug, c'mon. You & me both know what Karen would think of that book!
I like this because I never realised at the time of its release that the phrase you're the lady who. is actually a phrase which imitatyes the sound of the yodel which I love. this song is not to my taste and believe it could be improved upon to incorporate more of the yodel impersonation, Am I right or a meringue
I like how she is having fun singing this song. If you just listen her voice, and the many styles and notes she hits, it's amazing. This would have been one of the FUN songs she shines in...and you can see her talent...she really does show that she is a MUSICALLY TALENTED lady.
What you're seeing here is a recorded live concert in Australia from the year 1972 --- one of the Carpenter's earliest concerts. Just look at how fresh everyone looks. No anorexia or Qualude problems going on yet. This concert is pure music. But check out some of the later concerts from 1976 if they are still available on youtube. They add in a crazy skit with a motorcycle and Karen wearing huge ?? ranting something about being a virgin. Both are too thin and the cracks are beginning to show.
damn i miss KC
