The soap stories are a holdover from WW1 when the allies claimed that the Germans were using dead German soldier corpses for rendering into fats for soaps...when in reality they were using horse corpses.

the Jewish skin lampshades really did happen...see the video on my favorites "Here is Germany" from 1945. There are some other videos on YT made by the US army specifically showing the lampshades.

The lampshade was requested by an SS officer's wife...there are some other US army videos that show the lampshade in detail.

The table with the lampshade, two shrunken heads etc was at the Buchenwald camp. The story was that a woman named Ilse Koch had had prisoners skin made into lampshades and other things. Koch hadnt even been at the camp for nearly 2 years. It was pure propaganda, as General Clays statement confirms.

WW2 finished with most of Europe occupied by the Communists, including Poland which the war had started over. The Government needed to justify the war, and demonising Germany was the way to do it. Crimes committed by the Russians (like the Katyn Massacre, in Poland) were blamed on Germany by the Nuremberg Tribunal. Search Katyn Massacre.

The western allies knew that they would need Germany to help protect europe from communism...Churchill was clearly anticipating a struggle with communism and he had never been a fan of communism.

If anything there was an attempt to whitewash many Germans so that they could be used in the US space program and other military programs...that's why the US enabled them to escape.

One important thing to consider is that none of these camps, in Germany, (Buchenwald, Belsen, Dachau etc.) are today considered to have had "homicidal gas chambers," but all the camps had gas chambers that were used to fumigate bedding and clothing.

"the facts of the gassings" doesn't mean they had to be in Germany proper...the allies knew about the gassings at Auschwitz as early as late 1942 and the British even published photos of the roof opening vents with a soldier demonstrating the process of introducting the Zyklon B pellets...that was published in Britain in November 1944.

Hottl was a pathological liar who told each side what they wanted to hear. At various times, after the war, living in aultasee in austria, he claimed to be the head of spinne (the escape route) and claimed bormann was one of his escapees He was also cleared as de-natzified by the oss as he turned in names of his former colleagues. He claimed to be close to eichmann, which is where he got his statistics on the killings. I think he is nothing but a self serving mid level beurocrat,a criminal.
