Thanks for the comments. I've since changed the exhaust some. I tapered the end and added an internal butterfly that is controlled by remote. With the butterfly open it is nearly a straight pipe. Closing the butterfly significantly reduces the exhaust volume for those occasional times when desired.

Veeery nice but too many high octaves...
She sounds "braaam" instead of "brooom".
Try a looong, hollow perforated pipe with tightly packed glass wool wrapped around the central core.
Straight-through, but should absorb the higher sounds leaving the lower tones to the exhaust.
