95% of teens these days listen to the same formulaic, crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy and paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die!
I was a massive fan of Marillion in the days when Fish took front stage, Misplaced Childhood and Clutching at Straws were two beautifully crafted classics. I never even gave Steve Hogarth a chance and refused to listen to the new Marillion but after all these years I am blown away. A different band for sure but it's in a different place now and I cannot fault Hogath's voice, reminds me of Collective Soul (another fine band). So yeah, both periods are as good as each other
Hogarth rules. He helped take Marillion from being a band that sounded a little like Pink Floyd and Genesis to being a band that nobody else sounds like. Thanks to Hogarth, Marillion is unique.
I cannot believe, or tolerate, how badly Hogarth derailed this fucking band. They were PERFECTLY poised to carry on Pink Floyd and Genesis. And they get this retard as a singer, and turn into a fucking U2 copy act.
This is from the Marbles On The Road DVD that was released in 2005, a must have for any Marillion fan. This is by far the best live version of Cover My Eyes that has ever been recorded. Thanks for posting, it's a treat to watch this video.
When a band like Marillion loses its main composer and vocalist, like it happened when Fish left, you gotta stop looking at it like its the same band...
To me the "new" Marillion is a diferent band with a different vocalist, who also does a great job.
If u feel like comparing this band with other bands, you should also take into account stuff like Dream Theater or whatever...
Algo parecido a Gabriel y Genesis.
Well, Both Are! Excepting the fact that Cover My Eyes has certainly gone under more changes than Dry Land which has been kept almost the same from the previous album.

@mostlyanthony Kayleigh -- and anything else from the Fish-era -- makes these guys sound like five-year-olds.

I believe Steve Rothery was the one who thought to change the vocals from just sounds to "Pain and Heaven"

Sorry but If you think that Fish was "the main composer" of the classic period, you don´t know NOTHING about Marillion.......

They're the same band, they've just progressed, and tbh, they're just as good as they ever were...Dream Theater do kick ass tho.
yourrandomnightmare 3 years ago 2
yes.. it is a smart way to see it.
There are two different bands:
- Marillion ( 1978 - 1989) and
- Marillion ( 1990 - present )
Anyway, both are awesome!.
