  • Definetly one of the best set-ups I've seen for just about anything.

  • I want to be your frog and live in that set up <3

  • Beautiful tank... but now I have to pee.

  • Comment removed

  • Could you please tell me how you go about cleaning this? Thank you so much!

  • @blackout12000 I just spray down the plants with water about once a week. I wipe down the glass once in a while and every few months I siphon out some of the water when it gets too full. It smells just like the forest. Frog poop becomes dirt for the plants pretty quickly.

  • @holidayhanson where did you get the plants?

  • Great viv

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • Riccia moss at .22 and Java moss at .27. Not technically a moss. They are freshwater aquatic plants.

  • What kind of moss is that?

  • Nice

  • man you dont have a build of this do you. Im trying to get good ideas for how to build really really nice looking vivs like this for all my darts. right now i just have them in basic live planted set ups but really want to go all out.

  • how much did they cost and where did you get them?

  • nice tank dude live it

  • This is a beautiful setup! What size is it? Is setting up a running steam a necessity to keeping poison dart frogs? I have a planted terrarium already set up but I don't have running water in it so I have not tried to put a dart frog or frogs in it yet.

  • sigh... FFUCK all of this fly bullshit... can i feed them ants?? because i dont see how i'm gonna catch all of those flies everyday :S

  • i LOVE your river man! what are the dimensions of the vivarium?

  • can u handle them?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • dont get red eye tree frogs i had one all they doe is sleep all day and when they wake up and if they know your looking at them they go back to sleep its not worth the $100 you pay for them.

  • Comment removed

  • does this cage go with red eyed tree frog

    s?

  • How big is that vivairum?

  • Beautiful setup im doing something similar with my green tree python!

  • do you breed dart frogs?

cuz i noticed the cocoshell with petri dish inside.

    common dart frog breeding strategy.

  • SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!!

Was that a certain product that made the little waterfall or was that your handy work?

  • THere are so beatiful....

But everything thats beautiful if dangerous

ex. Rose=throns Dart frog=poison fire works= touch = death or serious injuries Poison ivy= its shiny leaves but touch painful ichys etc.

  • what is the ground cover growing up the wall on the right side and all over the bottom?

  • @jae878 Moss. You can buy it dried at the pet store, wet it and stick it where you want and it will grow.

  • What are the dimensions of the tank?

  • very nice sir..i consider environment design an art form..and this great..props

  • what type of moss are you using??????

  • nice

  • i am setting up a dart frog habbitat and i ordered live moss do i need to buy the moss growing substrate or will it grow in coco fibre ?

  • I was just wondering how did you make the water fall

  • Wow, after going through literally hundreds of vivarium videos on youtube, yours still stands out to me!

Quick question, did you create a false bottom for this setup? I just recently bought an exo terra habitat, and there's ample room for a false bottom before the door opening. Just wondering what your method was if you did use a false bottom. Also, how did you mount your broms on the wall?

    Thanks!

  • dude, awesome! can you have dartfrogs in a paludarium? I mean if you have endlerss guppy in the waterpart and darts on land?

  • Did you buy the Terrarium or do you make it

  • How do you feed your dart frogs?

I am deciding whether to get a pair of dart frogs or a red eyed tree frog some day, when I set up my planted vivarium. I really prefer dart frogs, but I read that they were difficult to feed. Is this true?

  • @lavendersfields123 Dart frogs (and probably all frogs) will only strike at moving food. My frogs eat wingless fruit flies which I raise at home. It is pretty easy to do but a little more difficult than feeding fish or a dog. These frogs have no problems eating. It is one of their favorite things to do.

  • @lavendersfields123 retfs are really cool but constanly eat and too big crickets could harm them my baby retf passed away due too a adult cric tht bit it leg in the knee joint and then it couldnt move or eat

  • What a beautiful setup

  • that is an awesome set up

  • Is it a good idea to house a fire belly toad with a dart frog in the same 10gallon tank?

  • @TheBettaApprentice Most definitely not. There are various websites that can explain why better than I can here.

  • @TheBettaApprentice No. Do not mix any species of dart frogs with another species of dart frogs or any other species, amphibians, reptiles, or otherwise. They will die eventually of stress.

  • @holidayhanson down here in uk

people in aquariums or reptiles stores

mix dart drogs like these ones

    black-blue ones with yellow-black ones

and red-purple ones and orange-blue ones and

    black-green ones and red-black ones

no probblem and lived for yearsand breeded well

well my terrarium was custom built 6foot by 2foot by 2foot

  • what kind of soil are u useing for your ground?

  • do the dendrobates azursus have a common english name ?

  • im planning on getting two or three, do u think i could use a twenty long cage

  • @Xxww2riflexX You could keep two, but you may be able to get away with three since it is a twenty long. Just make sure that you have plenty of hiding spots ans they can get away from the others if needed. Normaly its ten gallons per frog.

  • what does the moss grow on? is it potting soil, bark? can it grow on just moist rock?

  • @bobjmuffin Moss can grow on almost anything and yes it can grow on moist rocks very well.

  • are those frogs poisonous in captivity?????? can you hold them or are they a looking at pet????

  • @101JessTheAwe101 Some Darts are poisions. You can hold, but I would suggest againest it.

  • what kind of plants are you using? very nice, i want mine to look like that. What kind of tank is that (size, company)?

  • beautiful setup

  • @YamazakiSuperDM no water falls aren't harmful too the frogs. Almost all frogs require a very moist environment because they breath and drink through there skin, and if humidity drops too low they will dry out literally! Trust me I've found many amphibian raisins before they need water. i see dart frogs that will soak in water for hours if it wasn't good for them there instincts would tell them to go away from it

  • @Tmoney16743 you dint really need to clean it because if you have a naturalistic viv with live plants, a water feature and A good substrate it will make a natural equilibrium and the soil will break down any waste produced by the frogs but if you must clean it you will only need to once every two to four years. Every two is better

  • @repticular no it's not are you getting them as froglets? If so you'll want to get at least three to increase the chances of getting a breeding pair (unless of course you only want one then it doesn't matter) and then the extras can either be pared up and sold or sold individually (they're easy to sell to pet stores that specialize in reptiles and amphibians)

  • what back ground is that because i want to grow plants on the background like that

  • Such a little bastard can do so much damage lol.

  • hey is 55 over priced for these

  • awesome amazing, fantasic.

great work mate, wish mine looked that good

  • ay how do you clean the vivarium? since there are live plants in there right? also how do you keep the water from over flowing from the water fall?

    \

  • fantastic setup mate

  • its looks amazing!!!!

  • damn, nice exotic frogs

  • any one can anwser how do u make a background for your tank ?????

  • you know your riccia amd java are they planteded in the water or earth.

  • how many gallons is that?

  • one of the nicest setups ive seen

  • great tank!

  • How big is the viv?

  • The loss of poison is not because their captive bred, it's because their poison comes from the stuff they eat, which is not available in captivity.

  • Wow this is a stunning vivarium.

I've been looking to keep a few dendrobates myself, how would you heat a viv like this?

    Robert

  • @SirRawlins you dont really need to keep a heater on a viv with dart frogs in them because they live on the cool forest floor in the wild. just make sure the temp dosnt drop below like 60 degrees F. at night and the light should give off enough heat in the day. you can add a heat mat to the back if you are worried about the cold nights but other than that you should be good. i have a viv just like this and it has a nice warm temp inside during the day. like a greenhouse effect. good luck!

  • wow!! very nice!!! thats soo coool! :)

  • how do u feed em? do u just dump some food in there and wait for them to find it?

  • many people are a bit cautious about buy poison dart frogs but actually some animals loose there poison when the have been in captivly bread

  • love it

  • woooooooooooooow that tank is so sikk the water fall and little stream is my fav part

  • I want a set up just like that with dart frogs!! Very nice man!!!

  • Very nice! How many gallons is the tank? Did you use egg crate for the false bottom of leca (clay balls)?

  • A very beautiful tank. I am building one myself.

  • Im going to build an environment as good as yours. This is an absoloutely awesome vivarium. I imagine im gonna have some real fun designing a waterfall and so-on for the frogs, preening the moss and selecting plant species for them.

Have you had any luck breeding them?

  • how dangerous are these frogs?

  • this species is dendrobates azureus, which produce pumiliotoxin. P. Bicolor produces batratoxin, which is 100 times more potent than the puffer fishes' teterodoxin. the poison contained in one of these babies can kill two full grown african bull elephants.

However, captive bred frogs are not poisonous, because they synthesize the poison from their diet in the wild. Although a frog can keep its poison for _years_, so even a captively kept frog that was once free, may still be very poisonous.

  • what is missing in their diet that causes this change in their toxicity?

  • wiki says its not very well understood but its likely to be formic acid from ants, and a specific species of beetle was named. IDK though.

  • wow dude! your tank is amazin, could you give me any tips or advice about dart frogs because i'm thinkin bout gettin sum. thanks

  • p.s. one more thing, if you did use silicone for the waterfall and all, what kind did you use? I tried using bath and kitchen mono ultra and it just washed away i also tried some other brand that didnt work. The other brand i tried was white in color and made everything tacky looking

  • Use GE's silicone II in either black or clear, you can get it at home depot its water proof just make sure you let it cure for 72 hours before introducing water

  • I feel bad for Mr.Frog owner here. Everyone keeps asking the same questions. If theyd just click see more coments im sure youve answered them all already :) A question I have is... How do you do the wall with plants growing out of it....foam and silicone? and if thats the case, what did you silicone to the foam that sticks so well...I dont understand... Wouldnt all this silicone be bad for the frog...I tried silicone and foam and stuck cocnut shavings to it but i failed real bad. I LUV UR VID

  • Wow cool tank mind if i use some of your ideas??? lol

  • Hey tip for ya, is to buy a lot of rocks small and big. So you got your mats for waterfall, then you just put em up on eachother and putting your filter behind the rocks make sure that you got a little a more holes for the water :) Its simple, image what you want.

  • how did u make that water just please tell me the tool and products uses and how long and how much it costed. and is it loud?

  • thats my concern, is it too loud for the frogs? wouldn't it drive them mad?

I suppose the amazon is absoloutely roaring with birdsong/frog calls etc

  • Did you make or buy this?

  • looks well natural. kwl waterfall. +10;)

  • although i'm competing directly against you (exoterra contest) I have to say you did a great job on setup and everything, I like frogs as well, they tend to not mess up the cage. Best of luck man :) -John

  • awesome tank soooo beautiful and sweet frogs bro i wish i owned that it looks so natural but awesome at the same time! 5*

  • This is amazing.

  • the tank looks so natural. Nice tank and frogs:-)

  • ever been to their natural habitat?

I dont think the waterfall belongs in there. too wet. a mistake that a lot of ppl do.

  • well they require a humidity of 85%+ and a waterfall is a good way of raising it - it doesn't have to replicate their natural environments aesthetically, just in terms of health and living requirements.

  • thats the pont

the waterfall creates too much wetness, thus increasing bacteria and doing more harm to the frogs than other things.

the habitat of these frogs is surprisingly rather dryish.

  • tbh every dart frog keeper has humidity very high otherwise the frogs would die. therefore, the addition of a waterfall would prove beneficial as it would increase humidity. if it was a common fact among dart frog keepers that the waterfalls did harm to the frogs then why would there be waterfalls in any dart vivariums anyway?

  • cuz a lot of owners still want ot have a nice looking vivarium that resembles a bit of rainforest in their opinion.

it is a common fact among elder ppl and veterans so to speak, which are still a minority.

I'm talking about ppl who have been keeping dart frogs for more then 25 years!

if you can speask german or dutch check out some places like dendrobase or dutch rana sites.

  • awesome vivarioum mate +10:)

  • any suggestions? I would really appreciate it D:

  • I have a 40breeder tank which was previously used for turtles which are now relocated to a larger 150gallon tank. But this tank Iam going to completely clean it and put boiling water in it to kill any germs and such. But I like poison dart frogs and toads. BUT Iam not planning on keeping them together. I just dont know if I can keep more than 4dart frogs in that tank size. Iam planing on heavily planting it. I want to use a waterfal, fogger, rain systems. So yeah I want live plants in it too.

  • Typically people go with 10 gallons of tank space per frog. But some species don't do well in groups, such as azureus. In the 40 you could keep a group of 4-5 leucomelas.

  • Hey personal question. Do you think I could put like the blue poison darts, with the bumble bee darts, the green darts and the red darts? Like females of course.

  • it is best not to mix species of darts even if they are the same sex. They are territorial and have slightly different habitat needs. So, no I dont think you can put them all in the same tank together.

  • How is that a personal question? A personal question would be, perhaps, "I noticed in the shower at the gym that your left testicle seemed a bit distended. Do you want me to call my doctor?....".

  • The fuck bro?

  • id like to know if u set that up yourself and if so how and what type lighting do u use

  • I want a tank like that!

  • how do you get these there are so nice,

are they pison??? are they deadly if u touch them?

  • I don't think someone of your intellect would be able to own one. A good start may be going back to second grade and learning basic English.

  • who say that i want to own one..?

and oh hey .. your a funny guy whahahaha..

  • (laughing)You're a prick! I was thinking the same thing. Yes, "UltimateBiohazard", they are pison so you gon git keeled if you touch 'im.

  • your not going to die by touching them...it kills you if you get it in your blood system

  • these are only poisonous in the wild...the diet they eat in the wild is toxic or something(not quite sure) but if you get them captive, then they are safe

  • howd u make the waterfall??

  • WHAT KIND OF MOSS IS IT?

  • Nice cage, frogs and waterfall!

  • what kind of moss is that?

    what lighting are you using?

  • mostly riccia and java moss...not technically a moss. They are aquatic plants that can grow terresterally in moist environments.

  • @daumite holy crap thats what i was going to say

  • help i have a water fall and its foaming

  • nice waterfall

  • arent poison dart frogs illegal in the U.S.A ?

  • hell no lol

  • there not? this pet store owner told me they were, plus i never see them for sale

  • nope there not. they only become poisonous when they jungle insects. so when you keep it in a home tank it you should feed it flies as crickets and beetles will let the frog build up its toxins

  • oh ok well sound like you know more about this type of frog than i do some im not gonna complain cause its true what you said about the toxins,i know alot about the red eye tree frogs more so yea....i got 5 of them

  • Like everything else including permits of marijuana and fully automatic weapons, it depends on the state you live in.

  • no way

  • no, theyre legal

  • nice tank setup, how much did it cost you?

  • the grand total would be nearing $1000 including the sexed pair of frogs. It could certainly be done for much less....but then it wouldnt look as good.

  • The blue frogs are poison and if you eat them it wont taste good. If you touch it you will be poisoned. Blue frogs live in the rain forest and I like the color blue. I learned all about frogs in the rainforest at school. I am 7 yrs old. Thanks for your video.

  • actually if you touch them it wont poison you but if you touch them and then rub the saliva on your eye or mouth then you will be poisoned

  • they r only poisonous because of an ant they eat in the wild in captivity they lose their poisons.

  • nice dart frogs!!!!! the bright blue is great

  • this video makes me have to pee real bad.....

  • lol yep

  • awesome frogs

  • Very nice tank, I have riccia moss and java moss, I also have java fern (to let them climb out of water features) but I wondered what the larger plants were and how you made the waterfall?

  • Is this an Exo-Terra viv?

If so, what are the dimensions please.

  • do you know a good website that shows you how to build an intricate terrarium like yours?

  • Wow! Nice setup. Great waterfall, in particular.

  • Beautiful

  • do they need any special lights like uv

  • nope. the frogs dont really need the lights. the lights are more for the plants. i use 6500K compact spiral bulbs by GE. they work well and keep the green growth very lush.

  • Wow 5 stars. I had no idea there was this entire vivarium sub culture. Especially the people that just have plants in them, kinda lame. But the frogs look happy so keep up the good work

  • hey, i am looking at getting a dart frog comunity in a 45galon exoterra tank, i got almost everything figured but i got a few questions, r the blue ones easy? and how many do u recon a tank my size could hold? any recomended species?

  • leggomygecko- Don't mix dart frogs with other dart frogs, stick to one type of frog per tank. Your tank could hold about 9 D. azures (the blue ones) which are fairly easy to take care of. I recommend that you get D. leucomelas as your first dart frog as they are the hardier of all dart frogs.

    Good luck with your vivarium!

P.S. Keep me updated with what you do!

  • Actually D. Azureus will not do well in groups....the females become agressive and will stress others to death. Keep them only in pairs unless raised as froglets. In this case you could keep 2 males with one female.

  • They don't do well in groups, I guess I should have said that- but it is possible to house them together (As long as you are willing to break up the occasional fight) Though I still totally recomend the leucomelas... (By the way... I have a friend who created a 70 gallon tank for his azures and they haven't killed each other yet)

  • u can keep some 2gether

  • You can keep more then two together, In fact I'm building a viv for 5 D. leucomelas right now. Sure their might be some fighting but you can keep them together.

  • leucs do well together- but keep the group male heavy as females fight

  • very nice man. good work.

  • what kind of water should i use in a vivarium? i know not tap water but should i use dechlorinated or distilled water or what should i use?

  • I use distilled or RO (reverse osmosis) water...these waters dont have minerals in them which cause hard water spots on the glass. Certianly don't use tap water.
