Evolution is survival the species that fit best into current conditions, it isn't about bigger and better; it's neutral, like gravity. Ideas like 'good' and 'bad' or 'better' and 'worse' don't apply, any more than they apply to the force of gravity. Don't attribute intent to natural forces, this is exactly the same as saying a natural disaster occurred because humans are sinful.

I have never heard one single creationist argument that was not based on a complete misunderstanding of the very most basic principles of evolution or science in general. I have never heard one single creationist argument that was not based on a complete misunderstanding of the very most basic principles of evolution or science in general. Every last conversation with one I have heard boils down to insulting them, or trying to give them a grade school science lesson.

Even if pine cones ARE generally getting smaller is this not evidence of evolution? I mean, the size is changing is it not? Hence, evolving? Evolution doesn't mean "getting bigger and stronger" It means "divesifying" to suit an environment. Thick Dishonest Creationist.

There was too much pointless argument. Any change in size of pinecones over time is not established, and any relevance to evolution is just speculation. (Are trees that make larger or smaller cones more successful?) I think that if there is no unambiguous observation to discuss, it's just time to move on.

He might as well asked about vegetables, as if all are the same. But ultimately he asked them to explain an alleged phenomena without providing enough data. I wouldn't be so quick to say that, particularly of people like AronRa and maybe Tfoot. Regardless, it's not as if their expertise in evolution has any bearing on whether or not evolution is -actually true.- Like AronRa said, there are volumes of evidence supporting evolution.

@KKM121 Whilst it might be polite to let him rattle on for 3 or 4 minutes, its not productive. When a man tries to build a skyscraper on quicksand, it is a good idea to stop him after his foundation sinks out of sight. if you begin your argument with a statement that is demonstrably false, any argument made that builds upon it is at best unsupported and at worst, total bullshit.
eg. "Evolutionists think something came from nothing therefore ... ". Whatever comes next is irrelevant.

@KKM121 Its just dangerous to let them continue past points of ridiculous failure. The problem is that they argue like this: A is true, therefore B, therefore C, and that meand D must be true. If you let them get all the way to D before pointing out what a lot of total horseshit A is, what happens is you go back and tell them why A is bullshit, and then they change the subject quickly leaving the audience subliminally thinking D is true because noone countered it.
