As good as this series has been - Zero is the top in my eyes. Zero has a soul in all areas. The simplification of the series with Assault Horizon was such a sad sight to see. Zero had the perfect forumla having normal missions anchored by tons of boss battles against a huge variety of enemy squadrons. This is the formula the future AC's should have followed. Can you imagine 4 player co-op against ultra difficult enemy boss squadrons? Ill take that or an HD collection of 4, 5, 0 Namco.

B7R was my playground lol. I unlocked every single plane but my fav wasn't the Morgan (plane with laser) it was the Typhoon and MIG-31!!! Those planes were my weapons of mass destruction on B7R. Passed the whole game with those 2 planes in Ace difficulty, to me it was very easy lol. I wish I still had my PS2 to play Zero and The Unsung War :(

@rashaud352 No, The story of AC0 is that you are a Mercenary in the Belkan War. But don't let it discourge you from getting this one. it's still a great game.

You can customize your aircraft a little more (Pick special weapons) and have alternate story parts and missions (Ace squadrons and multi choice assignments)

Every now and then I go back to this trailer for inspiration. Remembering the storyline and recalling how many times over I played the game to see every ACE and cameo appearances; I always come to the same conclusion. Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War is and was a master piece game. Having played the previous Ace Combat games, ACZ simply blew me away and set a very high standard that i believe other fighter simulation games should follow.

Best trailer, not the best out of the series.

The ending was great, and the idea of fighting proper named squardons is a great bonus that AC04 missed.

The story is better that AC05.

But the last mission does not quiet compare to the last one on AC04

Ace Combat 5 was the most fun though, it had one of the best stories, and did a great job telling it, though I still have the admit the final mission on Ace Combat 4 was better than Ace Combat 5's ending, but Ace Combat 5 did the best job at making you get to love your wingmen. Ace Combat Zero felt like a downgrade in nearly all ways compared to Ace Combat 5, the graphics were not really better, crap for story, wingmen? Wait what Wingmen? An emo, and some F16 pilot everyone forgets about. lol

I hate to disagree, losing your wingman on 5 was a good part, but that was only 1 thing. zero and 4 had a lot more to offer, but I suppose with it being the middle game out of the PS2 series it was always going to be frowned upon. I am simply saying, for re-play value, AC05 doesn't make me want to play the ending again.

I prefered the story in AC5 but you are correct about replay value. I replayed AC5 to see the story again and to get the money to buy all the planes. AC0 I wanted to see all the aces, buy planes, and finish all three game types.

Hamilton isn't Grabacr 1, because in mission 27+ Grabacr 1 appears, and Hamilton was killed in mission in 27. Hamilton was the "Commander" of the 8492nd in AC5, but he didn't fly with them in AC5.
