Great footage of the 1974 Commonwealth games here, and wonderfull sprinting by the great Raelene Boyle, it was too bad she didn't accept the scholarships that UCLA had offered her, I wonder how that might had inpacted her career?

Not quite - Szewinska did a new WR 22.21 in June '74.

That was in 73, if I am not mistaken, at postdam - stecher was second in 22.38.

No Szewinska set world records at 400m and 200m in the same year - 1974.

This is wonderfull to see, the 200m from Christchurch... I wiss I could see all the sprints for the commonwealth games in Christchurch do you have 100 or the 400, or the 1,500 from these games ?

athlete5399, You are a God sent , love you videos , you filled in a lot of blanks for me , got to see a lot of the Jamaican female Sprinters from the 70ies ie. Lellith Hodges , Jacquline Pusey ,etc. it shows Jamaicas long tradition in Athletics , btw Sonia Lannaman was Jamaican , like Tessa Saunderson etc.

Fantastic to see this footage. How cool. Raelene's technique seems slightly different to '72 Munich. Her running style was a bit more upright and Don Quarrie-ish here and she seemed to be cruising final stages. Only saw the '74 100m a couple of times but remember vividly her reaction as she crossed the line. Priceless.
