    or not idgaf

  • @bobusrex Oh fuck

    THANK YOU THANK YOU

    can't believe i did

  • *guys, not guess

  • @SB87JB i guess sarcasm hard to portray over youtube. But please, dont tell me or anyone else what we wouldnt appreciate. Thats all i did for three years was study that shit, so it would be for the best if you didnt act like your the only person on youtube that knows music theory. But the fact of the matter is , the reason these guess arent bigger is because theyre just not entertaining to listen to, plain and simple. Yea sure you could call it art, but that doesnt make it entertaining

  • no drive, not catchy. haters gonna hate but this is shit.

  • Lol at the ppl here that like this for the fact that its different just for the sake of being different. Mindless uninspired fret-raping. PS using diminished chords the whole song doesnt make ur song artsy, or brutal, or underground, or "you-just-dont-get-it-y" (haha look at me makin up words, IM GEORGE BUSH!)

  • @FutureMG they use much more then diminished chords. they also use a healthy amount of hexachords, tone clusters, heavily tensioned jazz chords, as well as tone rows, palindromes, octatonic scales, and other cool things you wouldn't appreciate.

  • this is about understanding ..pfft .... this music ( can i call it that ? ) has no meaning other than it being " technical " thats all it has and if i just wanted to be technical id go rub my balls over a korg synth and see what shit comes out it , seriously .. you love this band because you think that being different is cool .. no sorry theres being different and theres being a tone deaf fuck.

  • I prefer to listen Primus as experimental and original music, not this random stuff.

  • Spectacular!!!

  • Outrageously powerful - the only thing better would have been if Mick Barr himself had played his solo.

  • This band is nothing short of amazing.

Anyone who doesn't recognise this as music, why dont you go add to the views of some Lamb Of God videos ...

  • An awesome, intense performance. If only the sound quality was better... there's a video of Canada on here that's good quality.

  • This is so shit, I didn't realise there could be a "band" as bad as this.

  • @melachew This is so shit you just have to like it!

  • @melachew You have a pretty wierd definition for bad.

  • BTA rules! I bet the warr guitar is a bitch to tune though!

  • Basically, with all due respect to everyone watching, the people that have a problem with this music simply just don't understand it. Schoenberg had a very similar reaction, yet years later he is cited as a visionary. People are scared of things they don't understand, so they dismiss it as shit. I feel sorry for them ;)

  • @ZanderPodraza ... actually they make me think of edgar winter group their song frankenstein. I think people don't understand the concept of the change of flow in a song or tonality. I'm just hearing of them for the first time and I"m giving my own opinion and I think theyare good, but people who are too use to todays music wouldn't really understand it.

  • They look like a bunch of monkeys on stage and their "music" is shit.

  • Arctopus-genus of flowering plant. pretty awesome :D

  • at first i was like, wow this is worse that the shit i took after 4 straight days of nothing but taco bell, but then i listened to it and these guys are pretty sickk! im glad i stuck with it and didnt exit the page :) and now im gonna go look up what an arctopuss is xD

  • The Prisoner!

  • I love this particular song a lot because of how dissonant and ambient the whole thing is. Also at around 4:16 I love when the drummer goes from the fade in/out of the snare roll to the cool groove then back to the snare roll then groove again. Such a cool changing of pace. Fucking creative.

  • its funny cuz if i hear lady gaga or any of that stupid shit it annoys the hell out of me...like bad!?but i can listen to this so called noise and find it interesting and cool..

  • i am number six

  • Every time I hear that part at 2:40 I crack a smile. I wish I had even half the talent and creativity these guys have

  • This band sucks massive dick.

  • @Shanepwnsn00bs hahahaha

  • I could only hear to this thing for small interludes. 9+ minutes? C'MON!

  • It's not music

  • It literally makes NO sense to my why a lot of people give this band shit for being just technical nonsense. If you listen to their songs, they experiment with all aspects of music, from rhythm (especially in this song) to melody, to even just sonic oddity. This band is genius in this aspect, and deserves nothing less than praise.

  • @ixrxthethorn youre absolutely right, i cant find any bad in this, They all just hate this band because the dont have singer -.-... I mean look at those stops! at 1:07, 1:16, 1:24, 1:28 and so on, they like have totally fucked up time signatures but they still perfect the silent parts :P i say making the songs sound good with this style is almost impossible :)

  • @ixrxthethorn i think they more write composures than songs. meant to be heard as art.

  • @ixrxthethorn aboslutely!!! why hate a band for pushing musical boundaries?? I can't get enough of these guys! lol

  • @ixrxthethorn Maybe because their just not that good.........

  • @ixrxthethorn, maybe you are right dude, but they don't have armony, it's like they all are playing a different song

  • @MusiciansBryan we're used to hearing music constructed in a certain way, and when something this chaotic and disharmonious hits our ears, it fucks with our perception of what music should be. This is just noise, but it is constructed noise, which is all music basically is. First time I heard these guys I thought they were fucking horrible, but I could respect the musicianship. They're starting to grow on me though. O love weird shit and fresh approaches to writing music.

  • I know bta isnt exactly black metal, but this song is super condensed black metal. its so good..

  • "Im making a negative comment cause I dont get it wah wah gloober doof"

  • retardedly good..those with weak minds wont understand of course.

  • The key of Z diminshed minor add 9 sus

  • This song fucking blows

  • Bunch . Of. Shit

  • worst song ever!!!!

  • that poor drummer...so much talent and skill...having to play "music" with those guitar rapists. what a shame.

  • Why do they want to sound like this? Isn't the idea of performing to have people enjoy it? Musicians prob think it's cool but who cares what they think. To capture 10 idiot fans who think exotic scales and off time signatures are cool is easy. Capturing millions of fans that like songs with meaning, that's not so easy. If it was easy, we all would be nickelback.... ;).

  • nice iron maiden reference in the song title. IM THE PRISONER. NOT A FREE MAN!"

  • @Havohej26

Please tell me you're joking and you know it's a reference to "The Prisoner". (it was a British show in the 60s; the main character (the Prisoner) was referred to as Number Six)

After all, Iron Maiden was referencing the show with that song. Or this is somehow a reference to a reference, in which case congratulations to Arctopus for being one of the few/only bands to pull that off.

  • @Aulims i know about the reference to the show. i just thought the band was referencing the song. them not being british at all.

  • @Havohej26 Ahhhh I gotcha. I still stand by my point, however, that if they know about the show as well, and their referencing the song, that they're possibly making a reference to a reference and pulling it off.

  • they sure do think outside the box, you can at least say they don't sound like anyone else.

  • i think i just shat a whale ....o_0

  • This is so fucking awesome, how the hell do they remember all their parts! And the cd is a master piece, ive heard it a thousand times.

  • Sounds like a bunch of kids in the kitchen playing with pots and pans, or at least the dumbass on drums does...the other two sound like they would be better playing with their teeth. Horrid...

  • Krallice is better.

  • These guys are really really good at being REALLY REALY BAD. This style is called "Trying to play metal but being really bad at it but being really really good at being really really bad. ..... :D

  • fucking great music!

  • I love controlled chaos. like 95% of people who listen to music don't understand what's going on here

  • To me this sounded just like noise. somebody said it was "math core"? xD

  • very talented, but maybe technical for the sake of being technical? as long as their happy tho

  • i wonder what kinda thoughts and emotions goes through the Bands mind while they're playing this ?

  • What a waist of talent. The music is so obscure that I find it hard that anyone can get into it.

  • @2jordann2 waist?! you're a waste of a mind, learn how to spell, jesus, spelling one word in the spelling of another word that has the same sound is pure ignorance, learn the difference between WAIST(your fucking hips) and waste(trash) jesus fucking christ man!

  • its so strange, that these guys know excactly what they're doing, but it sounds like some 8year olds who touch their instruments for the first time....

  • These guys are really talented for sure, but this is like waaaaaaaaaaaay too weird for me.

  • wouldn't be surprised if these guys get signed

  • Vuvuzela with amplifiers !!!!

  • they remind me of primus... if les claypool did way more acid! haha but i think its pretty cool

  • These guys shred. So damn good. Drums are awesome in this song too.

  • @contagion88 The cool thing is that they DON'T shred. It's technical... So they can't in a song. Sometimes.

  • lol i live in bmore and iv never seen them live

  • idk why but this song never fails to crack me up. and why isnt it track six on the album??

  • I would pay to see these guys live.

  • I 'get' this band, as in it's supposed to be avante-garde, have offbeat timings etc...

But I fucking hate it. It's pretty much fret guessing and hoping for the best, then saying "we meant that" no matter how shit it sounds. You can glorify it as much as you want, but I still sounded just as 'good' after 5 months of playing guitar and not knowing what scales were.

  • @TalonWolf

Well, you obviously don't " 'get' " this band.

  • @CakeDestroyer OK, listen to this: youtube.com/watch?v=ZH-eBzbth40

I could easily say that if you don't like it, you don't 'get it'. I could bash a spoon against a pickup, and say "you don't get it" when you tell me it sucks. It's all very subjective, but my point is Behold the Arctopus really aren't as mindblowing as people claim them to be. To me, it sounds like people are merely attempting to prove how much more 'elite' they are in their musical taste.

  • @CakeDestroyer Forgot to mention I do actually enjoy some of their songs (I like jazz and tempo changes, so it makes sense that I would), just... you know, it isn't really -that- good.

  • @TalonWolf It isnt fret guessing because their live performances sound identical to the album version

  • I hope these guys will tour Europe very very soon so i can stick their guitars up their asses... sideways!!

  • I almost threw up listening to this.

  • I am not a number, I'm a free man!

  • is that a dw sticker i see?

  • this is def nerdcore music lol if it is music at all

  • @AceAdaptor Maybe the point of it was to sound ridiculous.

  • @bobsizzlack008 i can show in many way that this is music but ill stick to saying that it wasnt made to be easy to the ear and u gotta follow this with ur head, not ur heart

this is complex music (idk about chromatic scales and the 12 key time signature) but i know I cant play it and its fucking complex

these guys have nothing to do or to compare to buckethead

theyre doing atonal/off the scale songs while buckethead songs are structured and doesnt switch time signature like these guys does

  • @bobsizzlack008 All music is is sculpting sound. Since these people are making all kinds of sounds and noises and consciously putting them together, this is music and thus musical. Any noise is music and any music is noise.

  • @realityfiend12 i suppose

  • Comment removed

  • I listened to this song on my ipod... but then I found I was just sitting in my room, listening to it until the whole album was done.....I fucking Love this band

  • i hate this band

  • @volvvoraggarn im sorry you are that ignorant, why dont you go beat off to a shitty song by lamb of god that any 15 year old with a guitar can play, chug chug chug chug, omg thats so mind blowing, ohhh he screamed some shit, ohh they just play a generic metal riff omggg, fucking noob, bta fuckin pwns your pathetic ego

  • Then don't watch their videos. Simple.

  • I sound like this when I tune my guitar, but you don't see me making videos of it. This is progressive for the sake of being progressive--strained.

  • jajaja good one

  • if u guys tell me you listen to this in your car and shit..you need a girlfriend and friends...probably a job too..maybe education?

this is shit..deal with it. woo

  • @Nashology123123 i have a girlfriend, friends, a job, and i'm making almost perfect scores at a prestigious college. i love this band with all that i am. this isn't shit, you are ignorant and egotistical

  • did the title come from the dialogue at the star of iron maiden's the prisoner or something?

  • @evilnarc The prisoner. Iron maiden's title was referencing it too.

  • Greatest band of ALL time.

  • i bought the cd of skullgrid at a closing down f.y.e, shit was only $4! well worth it, it pisses off my neighbors when i blast you are number SIX!!! and the last song that has a jordan rudess continuum solo. lol.

  • this is good to listen to when you're feeling really proggy lol

  • Oh my, 9:23 Min of pure Disaster.

The Public must be thinking; "I wish I could be deaf right now..."

  • Wow... Atleast it's better than Cannibal Corpse :P

  • @Trivium1994BANNED Yeah, ok Trivium. Both this band and Cannibal Corpse are ingenious.

  • Who likes Trivium? I used to like them like 1 year ago untill they became a Metallica tribute band.

  • Okay, I appreciate what you have to say. I still don't like your view an Cannibal Corpse. Other than that, eh, I guess this band is pretty damn polarizing, I love them, you hate them. We'll call it that.

  • Nonono! I don't hate them! I just think that the music is kinda wierd x)

  • @Trivium1994BANNED dude they became metallica tribute like 4 almost 5 years ago, where have you been

  • And all other bands in the universe.

  • Well.. Thats your opinion :)

  • and Lamb of God and Gojira and about a million other popular metal bands that all sound like shit XD

  • They lip synched like Millie Vanillie

  • and i thought that practising on guitar and be drunk sounds bad, no, in compare with this? it´s awesome...

  • this is the most original band EVER

  • these guys are talented, but there's a total lack of emotional intensity(at least for me).... and if there is emotion, it's more like bewilderment and a structured chaotic feeling... this is structured as hell, but in the end it just fades into the background like white noise. I love technical music, but I also like a bit of repetitiveness to emphasize amazing riffing...

  • Well said.

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 I'd like to see them build off of the bit at 5:21 - 5:50 and 6:01 and 7:39 there is more than enough there for a broader based song with some good repetition, at least I think.

  • ...And if you actually bothered listening to more than one song, and actually bothered LISTENING to the riffs, you'd realize that they repeat phrasing and riffs quite a bit. Maybe you should 'observe' the music a little more before you judge it in such a one dimensional way.

  • ummm... I've listened to a whole album of theirs... and I disagree with you, buddy... they're just to progressive for their own good... it's like a symphony of transitions... and the lack of emotion is still a problem for me... I mean, why listen to something that you don't enjoy listening to?(I speak for myself) Although I admit they do have their moments, it's simply not enough to keep me interested...

  • You say they don't repeat riffs. If you listened to them you would have realized that they do. I highly doubt that all of the phrasing and riffage that I hear repeating all throughout "Canada" are merely ideas floating around in my head.

  • Canada has this beautiful part in the middle of the song that I wish the they would expand on.... it's one of those moments I speak of...

  • There are riffs outside of the clean interlude which repeat and suggest one another.

  • @XxSconeManxX this man speaks the truth

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 listen to the song 1000 times and you might start to comprehend it, but again their music is not for everyone, most humans will never reach a level of comprehension to be able to understand something with this level of musicianship

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 if you need more emotion go watch day time tv fagglord

  • @catch22ification good job at bashing other peoples opinions asshole!! =]

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 hahahahahh hahahahah BOOOOHOOOOOO

  • @catch22ification you're humor as rather dry, I must say.... and nobody here is wining except maybe you.. about MY FUCKING OPINION. Comments have a purpose and you have soiled the awesomeness of Catch 22 in your name... just thought you should know....

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 and you have soiled the English language by using it to communicate your grunting.

  • @catch22ification Define music to me.

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 When I first read your comment... I thought you said "Good job at bashing open other peoples assholes...". And I was worried. Just thought I'd let you know...

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 That's where Buckethead comes in. He has insane metal.... With power. He has heavy metal with some emotion and power... He has songs with overwhelming emotion... He has songs with Just pure emotion.... Makes you happy, angry, sad, or just that mood you rock out to. And it's pretty much all melody Bass, Percussion, and Harmony. So yeah... Remember=Epic.

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 then you'd love meshuggah(but i'm sure you've heard of them) also chimp spanner, animals as leaders, cyclamen(or any band that travis orbin is in lol) special defects, and now if you want shit that's technical but out of your metal comfort zone then listen to jimmy agren band and also mats/morgan band....they are BOTH god-like, i didn't think that groovy sounding shit could be more technical then metal, but trust me, it blows meshuggah out of the water!

  • @xxxslayerxxx666 Animals as Leaders is fucking awesome, anything with Tosin Abasi is pretty much the shit! Born of Osiris and Veil of Maya.... fucking amazing. Technical, catchy, and all written in good taste. Thanks for the suggestions, man! I'm not the biggest Meshugga fan to begin with. lol

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 listen to animals as leaders. immensly tech but it has such melodic parts.

  • @m0rBidPsych0sis666 yessss emotional intensity thats exactly what i have been trying to think of to describe what this lacks thank you ! ( btw that was not sarcasm i really am thanking you)

  • actually they know their shit, you just dont like the musical style.

    there is a difference

trust me, im a classical musician, this is music....

  • @SupermansDead93 Agreed

  • After that awsome intro it would fit with some shredding according to my taste.... But if you're in the mood it migth go on good.

    Yhee i am a retard /\_/\.

  • thats some crazy ass timing!

  • rip dudes like doom Hella with some starless and bible black

  • lol look at the douchebags in front of the stage!! ROCK ON!!

  • btw JMCMStudios, you're a faggot too

  • lol okay loser

maybe if you didnt waste all your time being a moron who trolls on youtube, you'd have a hot girlfriend like i do ;>

  • shure yo do

  • Dudes, I'm a middle aged ProgHead. Haven't made the move from Stick to Warr. I have to say you guys kick ass!. I love the textures and if I close my eyes while I listen there is a powerful visual component. Just wanted to say thanks and tell you to keep it up. You are definately moving forward. Now I'm going to listen to the rest of the BTA vids. ROCK ON!

  • wow they suck

  • The term "SythDarKProductions" is another way to say "incredibly flamboyant faggot who likes Slipknot and FalloutBoy". The cool thing is, it's the same in every language, too. Faggotry knows no bounds, eh?

Also, this song is pure fucking awesomeness.

  • Comment removed

  • who could take 9 mins of tihis shiit?

  • Cool people. And that obviously doesn't include you, so ... yeah.

  • This song is fantastic. Love it.
