One last word about the American invented Internet. The basis of the Internet is packet routing. If I request data here in America, the individual packets are routed varibly through nodes (Amer. router tech) using the current shortest route. Those packets could contain served webpages or perhaps a downloaded song from iTunes. The core technology is American, furthermore, most server and client side technologies are now American, from Java to .Net etc. Britain hasn't really contributed much.

Dude, I have a degree in Computer Science and I do a lot of server side programming, I don't have to look it up. That is why I didn't want to get into it with you because you don't know what you are talking about. Your use of the word "web" like it is something tangible or different than "Internet" is laughable. And by the way, there are no practical differences in hooking up a few universities in the states as opposed to connecting two servers in two different countries.

I am not a teacher and I am not interested in justifying any comment that I make. Suffice to say that, as mere mortals understand it,the Web is a comms system that utilises the internet to function

@HRMacQuacken The internet and world wide web are not one and the same as you insist. Internet is a global data comms system. It is a hardware & software infrstructure that provides connection between computors.
Thge Web is one or the services communicated VIA the internet and is a collection of interconnected documents and other resources likked by hyperlinks and URLS . (source HTML 4.01 Specification) If you have a degree in this, Obama is white.

The "web" is a marketing term not a technology term. HTML is a rendering technology. Lee contributed an early version of said rendering language, but Apple, IBM, and other companies all had their own markup languages. If Lee's was not used, someone else's would have been. So the contribution is unremarkable. Furthermore, HTML 4.01 has very little in common with Lee's original contribution. Finally, markup is markup, without American web browsers it would be pointless.

Incorrect. The micropressor was invented by an American company called Intel in 1971. Their 4004 chip had 2300 transistors edged into silicon. The transistor was patented by an American company, Bell Laboratories, in 1952. Transistors are like solid state vacuum tubes which were first conceived by Edison (Edison Effect), patented in 1884. The microprocessor, invented by Intel, is not an invention? What?

@HRMacQuacken K, I just assumed that they will get very mighty with all the number of people and economic capacity. Though I assume they are still far behind even in economics regardless of how fast things grow.
I wonder if we would be better off being in a military union. Maybe NATO is to big but a scandinavian/nordic one. If anyone attack our scandinavian neighbours I assume it would soon be our business anyway =P
And united numbers clearly got an advantage against single ones =P

Guess I was mostly reasoning like 1.2 billion people with decent salaries = can afford more military items than 10 million people with awesome salaries.

@HRMacQuacken They benefit from it. Look at Asia vs Africa. Saw som TV documentary about Nike workers. Anti-globalisation people often complain and Nike and similar companies but the fact was that they earned 5 times as much as they did as farmers and work was much better there than at the "local" shoe factory. "Would you like 5 times as big salary? 'no'"?
They won't just jump up to western standard with western salaries immediately. But this is the stuff which actually improves their living.
