  • men ur really good! hehe i have to learn this song in a 6 string guitar, and doesnt sound bad, just some fixtures in the clean vocals... Keep Brutal!!

  • Awesome guitar dude and sweet playing, i sent you a PM about your carvin

  • nice cover man! what tuning did you use for this song?

  • @GradsterTXX Hey, thanks! This is just standard B tuning for 7 strings: B E A D G B E

  • Great cover man! Any chance you'd have tabs lying around for this song? :)

  • @xlRainlx Hey, sorry for the late reply, but yes, I have submitted a Guitar Pro tab to ultimate-guitar. I'll link to it in the description

  • @Kholdplays SWEET! Thanks man! They sound great, gonna get on learning this right away.

  • Hell Yeah! Great Song! GOOOOOOOOOOOOd playing!

  • Thanks and congratulation

  • Hi.I can play van halen style music with Holy diver or only metal? Thanks

  • @SEBANO1974 The Holy Diver pickup is very versatile, and not specifically made for metal. It's warmer than the other "metal" pickups like the painkiller or warpigs, but I suggest you send an email to Tim at bareknuckes with your guitar specs and sound you're looking for- he should give you a better recommendation than I can :P

  • awesome cover and nice Meshuggah t-shirt

  • How do you like the koa body dude?

  • @bodomdays Hey, it took some time to get used to and dial in the correct setting for my amp, since I had a basswood Ibanez before. The Koa (similar to mahogany) gives a lot of balls to the tone, but it can turn muddy if you're not careful. A tight amp will really complement it!

  • good job man

  • haha blunt note. dont worry bout it i do it all the time

  • sounds really good. i want some bareknuckles so badly! the holy divers seem to handle the low tuning well but i kinda want to try cold sweats or painkillers

  • what tuning?

  • Just the usual 7-string tuning:

    BEADGBE

  • Hey there! Unfortunately I've only tried the Holy Divers, so I can't speak from personal experience about the Painkillers. If you have a warm body wood, like mahogany or koa, painkillers should be awesome! However, if you have something like an alder body, those pickups might end up sounding harsh.

I took my guitar to a tech because I had no experience or tools to do the routing, so if you're in a similar position I'd suggest you do the same :)

  • I'm looking to build a carvin dc727. I know their pickups suck I have a duncan distortion 7 string pickup now. That won't fit in too easy will it?

  • Yeah, unfortunately Carvin's pickups have a weird size- they are thinner (in the dimension parallel to the strings), and longer (perpendicular to the strings). So what needs to be done to fit normal pickups, is you have to route out the pickup cavities on the sides a bit. I didn't do it myself, but gave it to an experienced tech. Remember, if your finish is dark (like mine) routing the side will expose the lighter wood there, so it needs to be covered. This is only inside of course, not the top.

  • HOLY SHIT, that was amazing. How'd you get the guitar to sound so clear, like what programs did u use?

  • Thanks, haha! I connect the amp directly to the PC from the FX-send and use Recabinet for cab simulation, and I'm not using the webcam audio. That's part of the reason, the other part is finding a guitar tone that fits the mix of the particular song- if done wrong it will be buried beneath the song.

  • you're pretty good:) nice and clean technique!

  • Thanks everyone! :)

  • Nicenicenice dude!

  • Yeah, a lot more gain in this one. This sound also sounds good, but different: ) I guess there are different preferences. I just ordered my DC727 yesterday! Can't wait to get it. Went all koa with a quilt top.

How are the stock pickups? Did you have to carve/rout the guitar to put BKPs in there?

  • Hey there! Sorry for the late reply... Congrats on the order! All Koa should be pretty epic :O

The stock pickups were "ok", but that's about it- I couldn't quite put my finger on what was wrong, but I could never get a perfect balance in tone with them- there was always some compromise here or there. For the BKPs routing was required, and I gave it to a tech to do it. The stock pu's are narrower so the routes have to be widened- it's only 1-2 mm. What colour top did you go for?

  • Sorry for the even later reply.. I'm still waiting for my Carvin! It was delayed because of some problems with the koa delivery being late out of the kiln or something. Anyway, it should be done next week and shipped to me, and I'll let you know how it turns out. I got an email last night where they said it was drying right now.

  • I went deep triple step black quilt with the blackburst edges. For the neck I went clear satin finish to show off the koa with the maple stripes. : ).. Man I'm GAS-ing just thinking about that guitar. It's been freakin two months since I ordered it.

  • The wait is a killer for sure! It's as if as you approach the day it seems farther and farther away lol... Should be awesome when you get it though, hehe :D

  • haha omg i remember waiting for mine like 2 months ago. it was PAINFUL haha. on mine (i got a DC127) i went with an all walnut body, walnut neck with 2 maple stripes, and i went with the deep triple step teal quilt with blackburst edges, ebony neck, and abalone signiature inlays. its absolutely beautiufl i couldnt be more please. lmao carvin is the sex. btw ur guitars sick and haaraas urs should be awesome too. the wait is definitely worth it. trust me

  • wow i meant ebony fretboard lol.

  • This is awesome
