you do get points for quickstep...but the points have a max...you reached it before the big purple guy

Just to clarify: There's a limit to how many points you can get from quickstepping in any given level. Pass that limit, and it'll stop giving out points. This is most noticeable on this level and on the bosses for Asteroid Coaster and Starlight Carnival.
