  • а кто понации Khamzat Vitaev?

  • pride didn't allow elbows on the ground. I guess it isn't mma either huh.

seriously, pancrase was MMA, duh. it's just a different ruleset, who cares.

  • @GribMurder if it allows full contact face punches standing and on the ground along with grappling then its mma

  • Comment removed

  • that was a sick armbar sweep

  • beautiful sweep at 1:46

  • serra is the man

  • thats mma, its got striking and grappling

  • @marleySux its already been explained to you remedial kid,it has no head punches either standing or on the ground, therefore its not mma,its original pancrase rules.Lots of comps have striking and grappling and arent mma.

  • @billysue2 you stupid dickbreathed cunt, its ON HIS OFFICIAL MMA RECORD!!

  • @marleySux that means nothing, its not mma rules, neither is any pancrase fight prior to the late 90s,so all of bas ruttens fights were not mma prior to the ufc

  • @billysue2 lol stfu, there in the Sherdog record database, they are MMA fights then. MMA is such a new sport so many organizations have different rules there is no one accepted rule set worldwide. Shooto used to have a standing 8 count like in boxing, should all those Shooto fights not count? If a fight combines striking arts and grappling arts together into a cohesive whole it can be considered MMA.

  • @Robschach13 exactly. all mma is, is a combat sport with striking and grappling. there are many different rulesets: PRIDE FC rules, Unified rules, and Pancrase rules (which are common in ammy MMA)

  • @Robschach13 there is 1 accepted ruleset, its called unified rules for a reason. The only things I wouldnt consider mma fights are those with no head punches on the ground, neither old pancrase nor rings rules allowed that so arent mma, they are partial mma.Shooto allowed the headshot on the ground

  • @scarred10 The unified rules has usually only been used in North American promotions, and now is being used elsewhere. Pride FC didnt use the unified rules, so I guess thats not MMA. Just admit your arbitrary definition of MMA is faulty. Literally no one else is clamoring for Pancrase, Shooto, ZST and numerous other MMA promotions to be considered pseduo-MMA. Mixed Martial Arts is a combat sport that combines cohesivly grappling and striking. Ground head punching isnt a qualifying determinant.

  • @Robschach13 as i said everything except old pancrase and rings is mma.Without closed fist on the ground its far less of a fight and changes the whole dynamic ,disallowing head punches completely like pancrase makes it totaly in favour of the grappler as can be seen from the results in those days. All sport jujitsu(not bjj) has grappling and striking, but its not mma surely. To me mma is about realism and removing the head punch totally fucks that up

  • @scarred10 as I said, your still fucking wrong. Adding a cage changes the dynamics to help wrestlers, adding a ring helps strikers, adding elbows helps grapplers and wrestlers, etc etc. Who the rules helps or doesnt help is irrelevant, as long as the rules of the combat sport in question include grappling and striking cohesively then we have Mixed Martial Arts. It really doest matter what MMA is 'to you', anyone who says Bas Ruttens fights in Pancrase werent MMA is straight up retarded.

  • @Robschach13 bas fights in pancrase were definitely not mma fights they rules were so restrictive,he could not punch anyone ,no gnp, rope escapes meant people had to be submitted multiple times possibly. There were also a lot of worked bouts in pancrase.Real mma suited bas skillset much better,he lost to poor fighters in pancrase who were just better grapplers.

  • @scarred10 you're on crack homie, Rutten's fights WERE mma. You take away punches and suddenly it's not MMA anymore? cmon son

  • @GribMurder take away punches and it gets pussified and different people win,the grapplers mostly.

  • @scarred10 rutten was a karate fighter, not really a grappler, and he did well. kyokushin doesn't allow closed fists, you go train with them or watch them fight and call it "pussified". you can still get KOed without punches.

  • @GribMurder Kyokushin absolutely stresses punches, hammerfists, backfists and elbows. It was early Pancrase that didn't allow closed fists so Rutten adapted.

  • @BootlegFightVideo huh? well I know that in kyokushin tourneys, they can't punch to the face, but body punches are fine (wasn't that the same in pancrase as well)? I never knew hammerfists and elbows were allowed in kyokushin... perhaps trained, but not in tourneys.

  • @BootlegFightVideo kk has none of those allowed in sparring, they are in the kata nothing else.Anything not sparred with is useless under pressure.Even muay thai do not spar with elbows full contact, they do technical light contact elbows for timing and then full on pads.

  • @scarred10 What is allowed in sparring depends on who is in charge not what martial art it is.

  • @GribMurder he hs a black belt in kk,then tkd but most of his serious training was done in muay thai prior to joining pancrase, the reason he could fight was thai.Ive done some kyokushin, its not realistic without the head punch,it encourages tactics not sustainable in real fights ..

  • @scarred10 KK looks solid to me.. I train MT as well, but w/e.

  • "Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills, from a mixture of other combat sports, to be used in competitions. The rules allow the use of both striking as well as grappling techniques, both while standing and while on the ground. Such competitions allow fighters of different backgrounds to compete." ... from wiki.

  • @scarred10 According to you Bas only ever had 3 MMA fights. Whatever dude, believe whatever delusion youd like.

  • @Robschach13 yes ,3 fights, its a pity he left it so late to get into real mma,his grappling would have to improve a lot to deal with the best.

  • Why are they wearing gloves , if only open hand strikes. Makes no sense...

  • Matt Serra is my Cousins Cousin.

  • @ProPokemonBreeder

Cool, Matt Serra is my cousin. :P

  • OK FIRST OF ALL ALL U NEED TO GET UR FACTS STRAIGHT, BJ Penn and Matt Serra werent the first non brazillian fighters to be awarded a black belt BJ penn was the first non brazillian to win the World BJJ Championships and Matt Serras just known as one of the most decorated american BJJ Practitioners.... Damn people!

  • @Jarheads4life719 serra was the first american to be awarded a black belt by renzon gracie. thats his lil claim on the bjj world

  • @Jarheads4life719 there were american black belts before serra or penn even started training bjj, beginning with kukuk in 1992.Penn wasnt the 1st to win a bjj mundial,he was the 1st to win at black belt.Serra has excellent bjj but is far from the most decorated american,id consider his silver in ADCC to be his best result.

  • @billysue2 No serra was the first american black belt under gracie and penn was the first non brazilian to win the world bjj championship!

  • fights in cages or rings doesnt suit anybody well, it should be outside

  • holy fuck guy, chill out. what he meant to say was matt serra was the first american to be awarded a black belt by a Gracie.

  • Too true man... Hes got a sick Jiu Jitsu Game...

I like Matt Serra alot, i hope hes gonna go far after his win against Trigg recently...GSP 2? we'll see :)

  • @BoxerSalinas he wasnt the first to be awarded by a gracie either,Matt serra hadnt even heard of bjj when the first american black belts were promoted.

  • The first nonbresilian black belt in BJJ

was an AMERICAN named BJ PENN!!!!!

    Not MAT SERRA!!

BJ,also participate in BJJ mondial and was champion at his division! In UFC ,BJ beat SERRA!!

He is still a contender and a very good teacher in BJJ!!!!

  • @MegaHitman666 I am a huge Serra fan but you are right my friend...it was B.J..

  • He was on about awarded by Gracie.

  • @MegaHitman666 Dude seriously you need to get your facts straight. Before BJ. Penn became a black belt there were a bunch of American BJJ black belts before him. Look up the Dirty Dozen. Those were the first American BJJ black belts. Rigan Machado Promoted some of the first black belts.

  • @MegaHitman666 let me educate you on a lil bjj history. bj penn received his black belt in the year 2000. here r the first non brazilian black belts and the year that they received it: Craig Kukuk- 1992 First American Black Belt Ken Gabrielson - 1992 David Kama- 1995 Chris Saunders- 1995 Bob Bass - 1996 Rick Minter - 1996 Chris Haueter- 1996 David Meyer- 1997 Rick Wlliams - 1997 John Will-1998 Roy Harris- 1998

  • @MegaHitman666 bj penn was still a child when the first american black belts were awarded, its well known who the first 12 were, most of whom started training in the 80s with either the machados or with rorian in torrance. There was maybe 3 or 4 places in american to train back then.

  • the most interesting thing about this video was marleau got a hat trick

  • i disagree. the refs attire was definitely the most interesting

  • that was a pretty sweet armbar he got out of

  • yea first american black belt in brazilian jiu jitsu. I'm also a student of Serra, and the training at his school is top notch. The price doesn't matter if u have the desire.

  • price kinda matters...people that say that are the ones that can afford it lol

  • @hooah91 lmao very true

  • i like how so manby peopel are like i love serra... i bet half of u me him like once

  • dude is serra a black belt?? 4give me but idk

  • Yeah, but then he was a Purple Belt.

  • I know some people dislike Matt Serra but he's actually a cool dude. I'm friends with he and his brother Nicky. Serra just didn't like Hughes' comments to GSP on TUF 4.

  • serra is awsome, my bjj instrutors Guy and Rob Pendergrass used to train with him and Gracie in NY

  • I can see why some people don't like Serra, and maybe it's a New York thing on my part but I freakin' love the guy.

  • serra this is your game weight!!!

  • is that the sme matt serra who is president of UFC???

  • Is there any MMA fighter who won matt serra by submission ? i'm just asking

  • Matt Serra has ever been submitted.

  • IM thinkin about joining matt serras gym.... anyone go there and know what its aboutr?

  • serra is a renzo gracie black belt. joining his gym would be a good idea. he is really legit. its up to you to keep up with jiu jitsu. like anything else in life, you get what you put into it.

  • my instructors are friends of his. they say that tuition to his school is 200 a month, its only worth it if you are a hardcore bjj practitioner

  • as fellow 5 foot 6 er i look up to sarra for what he does an how he does it

  • Hughes will make him look foolish....no chance for Serra.

  • fucking hell matt serra is strong isnt he pritty good at jiujitsu aswell

  • I love Matt Serra, He is so entertaining

  • at 3;30 shamrock say that the RNC is choking the AIR in the throat.

rnc (done properly) is a BLOOD "choke"

which actually inst a 'choke', but a 'strangulation'...

    but thats another story

  • very nice!! excelent ground game of Serra!!

  • serra at 150 is a BEAST!

  • Serra should be fighting at 155 he fights at 170 just because of the TUF show. GSP cuts a lot to get to 170, so theres no shame there. Serra would be a great contender at 155 lbs.

  • yeah, bj vs serra 2 would be sweet.

  • gracie is better

  • that ref is a fag

  • I'm disappointed for Serra but happy for GSP. Serra could've used that win way more than GSP. Cue the "Matt Serra's title win was a fluke" talk for the next 10 years.

  • he didnt have many other options ha

  • as proven, serra didnt even think he cud win. and hes a cocky shithead neway

  • Wasnt a fluke the first time huh?

  • wudnt call it a fluke but hes not the better fighter

  • I will laugh so hard at you when Serra beats GSP again tonight.

  • he wont

  • your an idiot...

  • Oh wow I think serra was embarassed!

  • wtf serra is proving to everyone that he is a good fighter and he will prove it again when he beat gsp ass again u will see

  • Oh, and Hughes would've outpowered and outclassed Serra all day long. I don't mind Serra but he's just not gonna make it in this lifetime.

  • Serra can knock George st. pierre again, and you know it.

  • I'm not gonna get belligerent with my comments, but it's plain to see Serra's nowhere near where GSP or Silva is, it's a puchers chance sport and he landed a punch. Anyone who wants a bet on Serra, I'll hold it and give it to you at +350. That's all.

  • He need fight with the spider SILVA!!!!!

  • I always like Serra. Hes Underrated and GSP Payed for underestimating him.

  • yo GSP is going to beat him next time in quebec

  • uhhh matt serra is not top 3 welterweights... i wouldn't even say top 5. He won't beat gsp lol. He dodged matt hughes because he knew he'd get stomped down etc. Matt hughes could beat matt serra up any day of the weak and so could gsp.

  • like when he beat GSP for the title, or was that the only "any day" that GSP couldn't beat him up?

  • hahaha.. I know huh. what a silly comment...he is definately burnt too many leaves.

  • no that's gay talk. gsp got rocked, and ur bitter like ur mother

  • GSP is going to try to avoid striking with matt, so he will take him down and matt serra is going to armbar him while on his back.

  • you people can say what you want and buy into the GSP hype if you want. be my guest, but he is better than GSP in *ALL* areas except pure wrestling. his BJJ is way better than GSP's, his striking is sharper than GSP's, and he's going to kick his ass again in april. then all you morons who buy into the UFC's bullshit will just start saying "GSP was never that good to begin with" and "he was over rated" and you'll all be on matt serra's nuts. lol.

  • Wow

i cant believe he turned that throw into a arm bar

  • Matt Serra is unbelievable!

  • Ummm..This is not an MMA fight, they are using 'Sports Jiu Jitsu' rules.

  • MMA is UFC/Pride/Shooto/Pancrase/Smackgirl etc various rules. These rules = early Pancrase type rules like Bas Rutten, Ken and Frank Shamrock started in. Sport Jiu-jitsu (basically BJJ tourney style) doesn't allow strikes but ESPN didn't know anything then.

  • at least his nickname is THE TERROR 5;6 or 5 ;10 it doesnt metter

    MATT SERRA RULES

  • He is 5 ft 6 but to be a midget you have to be under 4 ft 10 not 5 ft 4 that is average for women lol !!

  • I mean I am 6 feet five inches and I still do not think matt serra is a midget!! Thats coming from a very tall guy!!

  • matt serra is not a midget if you guys were educated you would know that to be considered a midget for a man, you have to be under 5 feet 4 inches, so matt is not tall but he is about medium!!

  • the terra is one bad motherfucker on the ground...nuff said!

  • People who call him a midget are just jealous cuase there fucking tress are dropping to his ass like no tomorrow lol

  • Why was the ref trying to keep the fighters from going into the corner? Why is the ref dressed in the black ninja outfit?

  • Matt the mighty midget! Sounds like a great new nick name.

  • serra's a mighty midget

  • haha, powerranger

  • good old matty

  • why only 20 secs on the ground?

  • Team Renzo Gracie 4LIFE. Serra is the man. He deserves all good things that have happened to him. Too bad about the fight in Dec., but injuries happen.

  • Serra is a very talented fighter and an excellent machtup for hughes belive it or not

  • this has to be the worst ref i have ever watched

  • Agreed!

  • wow that was cool!!!!

  • this is about the art of jui jitsu it does not matter if you like him as a person. his jiu jitsu is fantastic and Matt is an inspiration to anyone who loves the art in its purest firm.

  • serra is more man than you will ever be. you will die, you're children will remember you, maybe they're children will remember you.

serra is the champ, he's the better coach on the ultimate fighter and he'll shock the world again this december.

  • opps

  • man it must suck to know that a bitch could beat the shit out of you

  • id say matt serra is a humble warrior

  • Do you understand humble?

  • He's a "fuckin little cocky faggot" that would destroy you in a fight.

  • Matt Hughes is a dominant wealterweight but check out GSP and BJ penn..BJ penn was killing matt hughes in their second match but lost cuz he broke his rib doing an attempted submission in the 3rd round..not to mention BJ beat matt already...also GSP out struck matt standing..and openly said he's stronger than matt hughes..If i were to choose the best wealterweight I would say BJ penn because he destroyed them both but lost cuz he got tired...dont believe me? watch the matches for yourself

  • FUCK YOU DUDE

  • matt serra bjj is VERY underrated. the guy knows his shit

  • what in the hell is this referee doing?? why is he ruining the fight??

  • The ref is nervous they will fall through the ropes. He didn't really interfere.

  • serra has great skills, if he has the gas tank and the intelligence to bring his A game, he could defeat hughes

  • Serra has skills...lets see him fight Shamrock

  • serra wasonly a purple belt here? he shoulda got hisbrown right after this match. and hes going to pwn that piece of hick shit hughes

  • 13 0clock, why are you talking about fucking us and shit, screaming about gargling cum and stuff. i dont like men, sorry

  • Man, all you dumb mother fuckin retard peice of Matt Huges cum guzzeling shits, Matt Huges is gonna get fuckin laid on his ass by Matt Serra. Matt Serra is a fuckin beast, and Huges is just a bitch ass farm sheep fucking little prick. Fuck you dumb shits.

  • yep, most dominant UFC champ will get owned by a B level fighter. RIght.

  • omg why did he want his foot by the other guys balls? (2:17)

  • Getting his hooks in for leverage on the choke.

  • hughes with kill this punk.

  • Little fucking shit Serra. I want Matt Hughes to fuck him up. I am not a bit fan of Hughes, but I am for the fight with Serra.

  • yea matt hughs will definatley win but its more of gsp and matt hughes rematch thats gona be good

  • i hope serra subs hughes when they fight, matt serra is da bomb

  • What the fuck is Shamrock talking about at the end?!? He's got his arm around his throat, cutting off his AIR supply?!? C'mon man, lets get educated about blood chokes, here!

  • Have you ever been in a choke like that...? If you had you would probably know that the arm stops the blood from leaving and entering your head... Which makes it a BLOOD choke...

  • Are you talking to me or to Shamrock? Because in my comment, I was quoting Shamrock who said it the choke was "cutting off his air supply". I totally know that it is a blood choke (or is at least intended to be, when performed correctly).

  • it is a blood choke. but if its across the throat it will crush the adams apple area too, which makes u want to tap. shmarock is a tool

  • hope wee matt(gracie jiu-jitsu)serra kicks the shite out of matt hughes!

  • its not the only mma event on espn anymore.

  • matt serra has great ground-n-pound and he faces matt hughes that would be a dream match i'd love to see that

  • matts good but GRACIE JJ FTL mat hughes willt each him

  • brup he got pwned

  • Gotta love the ignorance of the announcers... The RNC is not an airway choke!

  • If you tighten hard enough its, flood flow and airway obstruction.

  • tru but what i think clashcityrocker84 was trying to say was that the RNC(Rear Nacked Choke) actually cuts the blood to your brain, not air. That is why the RNC is more effective than an air choke.

  • did u see the whore on terra photos?

  • what kind of morons put this event together to spell jiu-jitsu wrong? they spelled it ju-jitsu

  • I've seen it spelled Ju-Jutsu (see for example the Wikipedia article on Ju-Jutsu) - it's not so important how it's spelled, since the spelling is English and the words (symbols) are Japanese. Even the pronounciation is ambiguous within Japan... so... keep up the good spirit and say it however you like, as long as people understand you. ;-)

  • is a good BJJ fighter...but I still can't see how St-Pierre lost to him.

  • wtf are you retarded its "the terra" stupid fuck

  • Matt "The Terror" Serra

"terra" means earth or land, idiot. Watch the UFC sometime.

  • I know they call him Terror sometimes and Terra sometimes but he even said over and interview that it's "Terra","T-E-R-R-A", and it's not referring to "earth of land" it's his way of saying terror just like black people would say "killa" instead of "killer". This is referring to slang and or him having an accent.

  • To answer both you and BootlegFightVideo, yes, terra is correct, and yes, terror is also correct, sometimes him, or others will refer to him as terra which i think is how it started, but terror was on his shirt when he fought GSP

  • "I know they call him Terror sometimes" yet you just said " wtf are you retarded its "the terra" stupid fuck." Get your head out of your boyfriend's ass.

  • hahaha... i love the caption- "mighty midget matt serra" wtf lol.

  • que buen culo

  • buena raspada

  • Once again another great display of BJJ from Serra.

  • Serra is awesome!

  • beautiful transitions

  • I like how Serra was all like Badda Bing, Badda Boom after the fight

  • GSP BY MULE KICK!!

  • tossed that fool around
