True, true, true... Don't play with sin, believe the One, who KNOWS what, and how sin really is and who is the inventor of it. We don't really know it, we are - relying on our own judgement - blind and presumptuous. What a loving God who wants to help us overcome sin.

erfect illustration! It really is a true picture that if you give him the opportunity (in this case, turning toward the beanbag), no matter your intent, Satan can always convince you that ANYTHING is harmless. Don't try to fight, just turn away.
Again and again in the Bible, God tells us to flee and turn away.
"To depart from evil is understanding." Job 28:28b
This illustration is irrelevant because evil is all around us not just in one aspect of our life. We're bathing in it every day whether we know it or not. Whatever direction we walk, we face evil. For example, the pants you're wearing may be done by a child slave in Asia.
Moreover, this guy says that it's ok to be ignorant of evil, like a child. But children often do things that can be interpreted as "evil" (hitting others, stealing, lying) so being ignorant of evil is not going to help you.
Lastly, "walking towards evil" for one person isn't the same as for another person. For example, drinking wine could be fine for one person(even Jebus did it), but for another it is just walking in the direction of evil (alcoholism).
@eproulx Hence why he asked at the end for the listeners to think what came to mind when they think on evil in their life. You think an alcoholic would overlook their constant materialistic praise in drinking when asked that?
@Ephisus Hmm. The bible speaks of fleeing from lust. Were called to resist the devil but called to flee from lust. Seems the bible says that lust is more dangerous than the devil. Kind of scary xD
@rroknedaj The bible was written in another language thousands of years ago, there are a great number of things lost in translation, and even more things made up by a modern read. Gleaning principles should be the goal, not following every jot and tidal into meaningless oblivion. Pursue good. You can not do this by feigning ignorance of evil. Sticking feathers up your ass does not make you a chicken.
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18) is all I'm saying. Thinking we can 'beat' evil into submission may not be ignorance but it sure is foolishness.
@rroknedaj The bible is full of harsh, polarizing concepts, like Hell.
Our directive is to love is what is true, not hate what is harsh.
And the truth; is that putting on blinders to evil to be holy makes has as much wisdom in it as smelling flowers to keep germs out of your body. The fruits will speak to what is foolishness.
When he brought out the bean bag, I was thinking "Om, nom, nom." Funny how he mentions that he almost doesn't want to just slap the label "evil" on this black bean bag just for being there: it makes you stop and think a bit about how Christians have treated the LGTBQ community.
to quote a friend of mine "...his illustration doesn't work because it assumes that the desire to want evil isn't evil, only the acting out of it is. Additionally it assumes that someone's proximity to evil matters in relationship to their righteousness."
Your proximity to evil does matter, evil should be the farthest thing from your mind. Your mind should stay on the Lord and His business. And there is no such thing as a desire to want evil, only a desire to do. Evil is something you do. Even if you're thinking evil thoughts, that's what you're doing. You're thinking. And, usually, when you're thinking evil thoughts, you're thinking of DOING something evil, not just about evil in the general sense.
You might have missed the sarcasm. He used a satirical re-enactment of someone who thought that walking towards evil was ok, when it clearly is not. Thus the use of satire and the sarcastic tone.
Incredible illustration! I know so many people who are like what you portray in this video, it's not even funny! I've been struggling to get this message through to them, so that was very uplifting and encouraging! I'm going to share this with all my friends!

This illustration fails miserably.

The appropriate response is to stab the beanbag.
Being 'opposed' to evil doesn't mean being ignorant of it, it means being a real spiritual warrior, wise, assertive, and discerning.
You cannot be "wise in what is right". There is no morality in purposeful ignorance.
Don't turn away from evil. Force it to turn away from you.
