EVERYONE LISTEN. THIS IS NOT CONTACT JUGGLING!!!!!!! THEY ARE ZEN MEDITATION BALLS. THEY HIT CERTAIN PRESSURE POINTS IN UR HANDS AND IT MAKES YOU FEEL RELAXED!!!!! SO THOSE ARE NOT FUSHIGIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Sarombi If you exercise your hands a few minutes a day with Finger Fitness you will improve your hands natural strength, dexterity, coordination and finger independence. Very important for musicians, computer operators, athletes, magicians, surgeons, dentists and so many more. Also if your hands are in better shape your less prone to injuries. Think of yourself as a small muscle athlete. The idea to condition your body to perform at a higher level is a simple concept that really works.
@Sarombi when you work out unusual areas in your body(especially when trying to mirror movements from your preferred side of your body, making you ambidextrous) it stimulates your brain in areas that receive little or no stimulation....it will frustrate you only because you don't see the point in it, and it's repetitive....but working out isn't about how fast you can achieve reps, it's about learning your body and how to even out the strength, coordination and flexibility of both sides!
@kryptonek88 I have been to Baoding China many times and learned from the best. I also practice the Finger Fitness exercise on a daily basis. You can find out more information at the website HandHealth that you can click on above.
@kryptonek88 I have learned a lot from going to Baoding China where the balls are actually made. I also practice Finger Fitness exercises on a daily basis. You can find out more information on all of this at the website HandHealth listed above.
@BriManeely Do you mean the move when the smallest spheres rotate without touching? All of the moves were done in real time, simply edited together to give some illusions of fun.
@bonsaiartist25 The Chinese have been using these balls since the Ming Dynasty. The word contact juggling might only have been thought of in the 1980s but the Chinese have been using that large metal balls to rotate in their hands for hundreds of years.
I have been to Baoding China many times and have witnessed guys rotating as many as 49 balls in one hand by stacking them in layers on small saucers.
@GregIrwin2008 Sorry, but bonsaiartist is correct. The art of contact juggling, for which fushigi is a just a brand name for a standard prop, was invented in the 1980's by a juggler by the name of "Michael Moschen" (though James Ernest coined the term "Contact Juggling" for what Moschen performed). "Palmspinning", as in this video, has been around for centuries. Contact juggling encompasses much more than palmspinning, and is largely a performance art of illusion.
@bonsaiartist25 the fushigi balls are decorated differently but they're basically the same thing, my great grandmother used these like since she was a little girl and she lives in china
I red somewhere that ancient greeks used similar balls for the same reasons, dexterity. I don't understand why are this chinese balls called therapeutic when the sound is soo irritating!?
I like the look of the DVD. Is it only really for beginners? The two books I have been able to find on Baoding Balls have been good but ultimately I have felt something lacking in them. Also I am looking for the x large gold Baoding balls (can't see them on your web site) I used to be able to get them easily but can't find them anywhere now!(I like using the gold and silver together it gives a good contrast when using multi-balls)
It's amazing what you are attempting to do for the world, thanks
The DVD - "Exploring the Chinese Therapy Balls" is for beginners to advanced. There are many high levels moves which are quite challenging. A lot of the DVD is actually shot in Baoding China. Also, it is much easier to learn from watching a video than learning from a book. If you are interested in unusual colors your best option is to call Hand Health Unlimited and ask specifically for the color and size you need. 888-868-HAND(4263)
You are right! I could not include every profession but certainly agree with you that auto mechanics need to maintain their HANDS just like we all need to maintain our CARS.
You forgot my profession. Auto mechanics. I've found that the added dexterity in my fingers has helped greatly with working in the tight spaces around a car's engine.
so this is where fruit ninja got that song...

Actualy fhushigi balls are from the art of contact juggling. Which was created in the 1980's, not in ancient china.
