Well as far as a reservist getting the honor...Dan put in his time on active duty and was also a contract diver for the Navy. The Navy is the one who made DSU 90% reserves to save money. These guys are every bit as sharp as an active duty counterpart. Hey did you ever dive the mark v ass&%#$ ?
This video shows the first dive of one of the three suits we just certified for use. Over this mission we dove and certified all three suits. The first was NDC Jackson, the second by ND2 MacCullum and the third by NDC Schleef. The team includes Fleet, Reserve and Contractor personnel. The primary purpose of the program is Submarine Rescue.
Oceanworks Intl in Vancouver, BC is the manufacturer and would probably love to quote one for purchase.
Dan is a reservist but the narator failed to mention that the other two suits were certified by fleet divers, and NDC and ND2. DSU in San Diego is the command.
600m down, 10,370m to go. The Mariana Trench is waiting....

I wonder?
Do they wear wet suits under their dry suits for their dive suits?

Sets a record for what, exactly? A military ADS record? Oceaneering International has the ADS depth record: 2,150ft in the Gulf of Mexico in 1999.

Pretty lucky guy... wish they would have let some of the fleet guys get in on this and not a reservist.
