I saw Death note in... about 5 days or something like that haha and I think L's death killed "Death Note" cause then appeared Mello, Near, Matt... and in my opinion It's was very elaborate... I think the serie must end when L died.
L knew about everything there was to know. he knew about friends but he never had any he knew about love yet he never saw it. he knew about hate and after all this time with kira he never felt it. what does that show us?
Well, think about this. L knew that if Watari died, it would slow the investigation and stop Misa's death, so there was no need for Rem to write L's name down. That said, Rem only killed Watari, and L purposely faked his death in order to find the neccessary evidence to prove that Light is Kira, by the use of Mello and Near. With N and M's help L was able to prove that Light was Kira, but kept himself hidden the whole time. Hope this lightened your day. :3

I cried my eyes out when L died, i couldnt believe it, just proves that death note is an extremeley well written story and really good that it makes you feel things for the characters but it was a big mistake when L died, I stopped watching death note from then, it was a real shame....

Sure, Near solved the mystery, but it's because of Shidoh (shinigami) who gave away everything (the fake 13 day rule etc.) Besides the only reason why Light won was because he had two death notes, a woman with the "eyes", and two other shinigamis. If Rem hadn't of killed L, Light would of lost. I mean, Rem is a death GOD. I think it's rather reasonable to say that L is one human while Light has a whole bunch on his side...

@rustbucket3000 I agree, ALTHOUGH, that scene wasn't in the manga. I've read it..I was surprised, not even the rain scene was in it, nor the part when they talked where L rubbed light's foot. There wasn't any "gay" moment there, like you said, they were aware of where they were in the case. I'm glad i found someone who finally understood, besides me. People immediately jumped into something else at that scene, and not understood it as a whole. I'm glad someone else was aware.

I stopped watching DN the instant I saw L died, I pulled out my DVD and returned it immediately to where I rented it and I have never finished the series. I no longer have interest in it... Now the movies, I am HIGHLY interested in. :D

i think it was a bad decision to let L die. he really was the most striking charakter of the series and they turned out boring after he was gone, although they tried to fill the gap (near/mello/matt), you can't just let the antragonist of the protagonist die...VERY stupid decision
they did try to do more for l once death note was done but over all i felt that it was not anough and i have to say that L was one of the most attractive things about death note
I think that it's L's very death that made him the legend he is. While I do agree he was the most striking character in the series, I don't think that he would have been nearly as good if he'd of lived and solved the case. I think that it would have been like any other generic story. Besides, L's death is what made us love him so much, because we saw him as the ultamite hero! Anyway, imo L's death was neccessary, or else Light wouldn't have had the arrogance he had when he faced Near and lost.
I get where your coming from but they should have done more things to do with L. e.g. N could have wanted to kill Light to evenge L or at the end it could have showed L and Light together again [even if there as ghosts] coz after all they were friends as well as enimes.
My ending to death note would be Light feeling bad for what he done and tells L and L saves him from getting death sentance

Most people hate light, but he really believed he was doing justice and didnt realize he was doing a bad thing.

My actual favorite scene in the whole anime/manga is where they have just come back from the rain and are sitting down... talking.
And you can see instead of the shawd that it is lawliet and light speaking it is truly L and Kira aware of where they stand on the case.
That was the truely an epiphany.

Really awesome vid. L's death was a sad and tragic one, but that didn't stop me from watching the rest of it. That's what you guys get for watching an anime series because of one character. The entire thing was awesome. Again, great vid.

I stopped watching DN the instant I saw L died, I pulled out my DVD and returned it immediately to where I rented it and I have never finished the series. I no longer have interest in it... Now the movies, I am HIGHLY interested in. :D

@LiLyLaz3r I don't think it was so much that the show suffer without him. I think it was more that his replacements were TERRIBLE. Seriously, if we're going to replace the best character the series had, you put in someone who's better. Not two characters that are barley half of the original. Near and Mello were crap.

I just hope when they make the american live action movie, if they have a Near, hope they don't make him little...and it is SOO adorable.. in the manga he was born in 1991, and in the manga its 2004-2010, so that makes him 19 in the manga!!! While in the anime, 2006-2012, he was born in 1994, so he's 18 <33 my age :P

@LiLyLaz3r The guy actually wanted to end the series cuz they killed L. He was the creators favorite. He didn't want to kill him. That's actually part of the reason he ended it at 38 i think episodes.

i think it was a bad decision to let L die. he really was the most striking charakter of the series and they turned out boring after he was gone, although they tried to fill the gap (near/mello/matt), you can't just let the antragonist of the protagonist die...VERY stupid decision

I think that it's L's very death that made him the legend he is. While I do agree he was the most striking character in the series, I don't think that he would have been nearly as good if he'd of lived and solved the case. I think that it would have been like any other generic story. Besides, L's death is what made us love him so much, because we saw him as the ultamite hero! Anyway, imo L's death was neccessary, or else Light wouldn't have had the arrogance he had when he faced Near and lost.

I get where your coming from but they should have done more things to do with L. e.g. N could have wanted to kill Light to evenge L or at the end it could have showed L and Light together again [even if there as ghosts] coz after all they were friends as well as enimes.
