Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll. Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll
One of them had a cousin I believe, or sister who at the time was a good friend. She introduced me to the band and it's music (this was back in the day - late '60's & were students @ Music & Art HS). It all came together so incredibly then., - Woodstock, just the most incredible music., - Janis Ian was a student with us. Incredible times so now onto Eminem and I am NOT being sarcastic. He is the poet of today in my mind.
i just heard this on a jazz radio station last night... and it blew my mind. i didnt know what i was listening to, then i heard that flute... that flute solo reminded me of "BOARDS OF CANADA"... then i heard the beastie boy "flute loop" sample and flipped out! this song is severely underated!
My favorite is "Cheryl's going Home", but back in the day, just about every radio DJ used this as their outro/ sign off music, if they did the later slot.
@larkin38 according to al kooper session kooper this melody is based on a riff from a barney kessel jazz guitar record [barney kessel had something to do with phil spector getting started in the music biz and he made an album on philles records ]
Yes, Andy and the rest of the Blues Project have a special place in my heart. I remember seeing them open for The Swingle Singers at Brooklyn College when I was in high school. :-)
Is this video from a TV special called "The Music Makers"?
I just learned of Andy's passing. My condolences. He was a wonderful musician; he's simply outstanding here. What magical sounds! Andy and his music live on for all Blues Project fans.
I think he went to england then, there were posters and roscoe on the radio saying a benefit to send al kooper back to england ?andy was also on the merv griffen show with david soul [ soul was supposed to have been in the blues project at some moment].
Al Kooper celebrated his 65th birthday on Feb 5 at BB Kings in NYC with Danny Kalb at his side. They paid tribute to their late bandmate Andy Kuhlberg with a powerful rendition of "Flute Thing". Al and Jimmy Vivinno delivered "Like a Rolling Stone" in true Dylan style, and Danny got bluesy on "Alberta" and had everyone's feet tappin' with "You Can't Catch Me".
Happy Birthday Al. We miss you Andy. Long Live the Blues Project!
I Love The Blues Project, they the most beautiful songs expecially this one they are my favorite american band and The Yardbirds are my favorite british band The Blues Project and The Yardbirds are so alike in alot of ways, hairstyles, fashion, music, and other stuff too and Thank You for posting this song on You Tube.

It's great to see Andy perform.
As his sister I remember many hours, many decades ago, his delightful playing - in our echo-like vestibule - most memorably -Swingin' Shepherd Blues.

Where's AL KOOPER?
Al WROTE "Flute Thing" for Andy!
I'm sure the Black cat can play, but he's NOT Al Kooper; hence, this is NOT the Blues Project.
