well, more specifically a firemoth speed run. It is not a general do whatever you can to get the game defeated quickly as possible in the best mech speedrun. :)
Truth be told thanks to one of our modders at the mech2 site I might rerun a few of the missions in a elemental somewhere down the road. (now that would be a boring sight indeed since i would only have 2 weapons at most)
actually all non enhanced versions work on vista. Check the website in the top right for more information, or check my profile for the install video for the 95 versions. It does work in vista, despite the fact that it says XP on it.
@437thx1138 it works on Vista (assuming you still have Vista and the right version of the game) and Windows7. go to mech2.org forums if you haven't already to try to figure how how to get it to work. good luck!
@sonickchri Going to Win 7 in a week or two. The Vista troubles are over for me. Just going to go with 7. I have about all the versions DOS win95 Titanium Thrustmaster and a few more. All over the web a yr or so ago and picked up some spares. The DOS version is best for 7?
@437thx1138 On this subject there are opinions about which version is better. The DOS version is by a significant margin FAR more compatible with XP and later (installed and played through DOXBox). It runs perfectly fluid - just not as many textures and pallets. However, other versions require patching and in many cases are not playable at all. Plus they are plagued with glitches (unless you have a Win 95 platform and decent enough graphics card). Most people prefer the DOS versions graphics, too
@sonickchri The DOS version is what seems to be the best by consensus anyway. I bought an old Pentium 1 recently and loaded mw2 mercs. Runs OK, 320 rez with half the options turned off, but just makes me want it on a new machine at 640 max settings at least. Thanks for the input.

Isn't there a glitch where if you fire another laser before you let the last one hit, the laser does no damage?

some have said that. I myself dunno whether it is real or not. Need to do some tests someday to find out.

Is that a Firemoth you're in? Not my choice of mech, but since this IS a speedrun...

Well done. Wish I could get mine to work on vista. Ghost Bear expansion? Miss this one.

how did you override the heat shutdown
Mechonized 3 years ago
if you hit o it will override, just becareful because if you are in the full red chances are you will blow up.
SirxMMPD 3 years ago
I've been wondering, did you stock up with a lot of heat sinkers when you use a load of lasers?
blackyoshi1230 3 years ago
Not really, I think the variant I took for this drop only had 1 heatsink if that.

Nicely done!
