That intro makes me wanna fly a helicopter out of a dormant volcano. The jump out the chopper and sky dive. Then I'd open my chute and land through the open sun roof of a black car. Then speed along before letting the car drive itself whilst I jumped onto a motorbike pulling a wheelie. Then I'd save the day and ride off into the sun set without taking thanks from the bumbling Police chief. Yeah all that
@NLEproGUY Those 3 icons of TV. There doesn't seem to be anything like that anymore. It's like they think kids wouldn't enjoy a helicopter with pop out guns. A talking car (well they kept that one but it blows big time now) And a guy with a fast bike. Nah, our friends across the pond aren't making "fun tv" now:(
epic ViD you have some serious skills if your taking on projects like that your equipment was all nice as well you must work in the field if you have all of that stored somewhere in your house most people wouldnt be able to come by what you have shown lol...
at the end of your project you sure did earn a reward you will be gaming on that thing for a long time with all those titles at your disposal with a flash cartridge
if i could do that id try to reproduce it in mass for buyers out there..
Actually, most of the Projects I do here are for hobbyists that love the build of the project. There is actually already a couple of Retail vendors that sell Mass produced cartridges that are also equipped with SD card slots. It lets you load an entire Library of ROMs. One site is called ToToTek and the other is KRIKzz both of these webpages use the DOT com suffix. Or if you just Google them, you'll find their site. They sell between $75 & $150 US.
sure someone said something already but i know there is a everdrive for gamegear now. would that be basically the same as this but that is just done for you?it can run stuff from sd card.
Yep! And the Everdrive can hold a much larger memory due to the fact that it's using a Micro-controller and as you said... an SD-Card. This Project I have laid out here is meant for those electronics Hobbyists that prefer to build something and more for fun really than anything. But If you're just interested in it for the Gaming aspect....then an Everdrive cart is a good call, and the price is not that bad either.
@NLEproGUY oh ok. so this is for people that like doing the stuff. just didn't know if there was a reason to do this instead of getting a everdrive is all.
Wow, that looks really awsome. Just a couple of questions though. Firstly, about the SMS cartredge version, could you use the Master Converter (that allowed you to play master system cames on your GG) be used to plug in the cartredge? Put the guts of the GG-SMS into the SMS cart instead of having it hang out the back of the GG cart? Just a thought.
Also, has anyone tried to mod the GG with mobile phone batteries? Would that even be possible? Becouse it would sure save on batteries.
Yes Absolutely! That could work. As long as you rewire the connections inside the adapters enclosure to match my schematic, you shouldn't have any problems. You can wire it up in any shape or form. Some users have crammed the chips inside a GG cartridge by bending the Pins out flat and cutting the top off of the GG PCB to make room for the chips. They then soldered all their wires very close together.
Again, as long as you match my Schematic diagram, you're imagination is the limit!
For the Battery MOD, I've seen some that use Lithium batteries and they are installed as permanent battery packs. Most of the time they also perform the LED MOD to increase the battery life. This also includes a charging circuit for the batteries which they install inside the GG console itself. There are a bunch of sites that lay out the procedures for these MOD's. I'll be posting my own video of these MOD's, time permitting of course. Perhaps over the March break.
@NLEproGUY im not sure if this is help full or not but , there is gameboy flash carts being produced at 64mb maybe you should look at their solution to help this project? i know nothing about electronics som im not sure if you can do that or not :)
That's really appreciated giving me the heads up on that.
Using these high capacity Flash chips or "SD Flash cards", raises the overall complexity of the electronics required in order to implement. The project I have shown here is to keep the electronics as bare bone simple as possible, as to allow electronics hobbyist and beginners successfully build one of these devices. Anyhow I didn't know about the 64MB cart, so I'll definitely check it out.

HAHA!! Nice...That makes me think of the days way back, when I was a kid and I would stay up late to watch re-runs of the TV show "Night Rider".

True enough. I guess the re-runs will have to do.
Such is life. Cheers!
