This Is The Strongest Most Insane Intense And Unbelievably Amazing Crowd Participation Song Ever- I've Never Ever Felt So Overwhelmd By The Everybody In The Crowd And The Action On Stage... Holy Fuck- I Need To See Them Live Again
I think Dillinger Escape Plan are becoming more and more amazing. Love Dimitri and Calculating Infinity is a great album, but Greg bought new energy and creativity to the band. My two cents.
I got such a hard on for Dillinger watching this video, because I saw them live for the first time last year, and this video doesn't do them justice, I want to see them again right NOW!
@ARedSkyInAutumn I hated this song the first time but yet on my iPod it says i listened to it 73 times, and now that i think about it....I freakin bought it.
@lordInfamous47 please SHUT UP ... I saw them live Meshuggah +support DEP ...aaand only what I remember is 43% burnt outro riff + stroboscope!! :D ....and panasonic youth aand sunshine , aand milk lizard, aaand sugar coated.... ( before I loved meshuggah more than dep, after live .....I LOVE ONLY DEP:D)
i love this song. i like to interpret it as them conveying that way obama's government has made us feel like we need not try to be successful, try to stride for great things personally. Then when at the end suggests (and i agree) that the last 6 years have really been a cloning the same agenda. GWB last years and Obama's current have definately stunk of the same government cheese. I thing tDEP nail it on the head with this track.
@traveldownward86 ...way, way off. This song is about sending a message to fans who want them to return to their old sound. There's nothing political about it, there's nothing political about ANY Dillinger song.
@davethehostage sugar coated sour? yes what you call politics. I said that in the sence that politcs is nothing more than a standardized way of dealing with all social issues.
I also really like how their songs double up as politics-social/love-relationship it's like you can always interpret it in these two ways. Not to say that other interpts. don't apply. like they say this song is a message to the fans who wanted the old sound, etc.
@dnm25 edit: YOU say it's about that. I can see that.... "never leave home" which applies neatly since they really were at home in the kickassness they put out, a life performance shows that clearly.
@dnm25 ..What about Sugar Coated Sour? If you're inferring it even has the slightest political meaning behind it, you're way off. No, the meaning of the song is not subjective - the writer had a specific idea in mind, that's what the song is about. This song is not about Barack Obama, in any way whatsoever.
@dnm25 Did you read the post I was respinding to? I'll paste an excerpt for you here: " obama's government has made us feel like we need not try to be successful, try to stride for great things personally."
@davethehostage SERIOUSLY!? You're arguing about fucking politics on a music video?! Just chill out and enjoy this awesome video by this awesome band!
@moket123 Dude, perhaps you should read the whole conversation. The guy I was talking to was trying to tell me that this song is about the Obama administration. I was telling him to stfu.
this song is really fucking good i was afraid to listen to this album thinking that they were going to go full on scene metalcore but this is great they maintain their own sound keep it technical and have something to say, really blew me away wasnt expecting to like this as much as i did
@washburn085 yup. opinions are for one to own up to, and since you seem to be mr. know it all, i guess i'll have set aside with opinions and put together the facts.
Chris was always the only band member classically trained, and no, Ben did not write the majority of the stuff, it was a very even effort of Chris and Ben both, and even Adam in the old days. NOW, Ben is a fuckin great guitarist, but clearly an even better business man.
@OHmygodXoBil3 this made me lol just thinking about people coming back and watching it again and going... well damn, this is pretty cool now that im actually paying attention to it lol
Billy doesn't just do what Ben tells him to do, they wrote much of this album together. Billy and Chris are both great drummers (esp given Billy's age and experience). There is no reason to compare them. I am glad Chris left the band, there is less of a toxic environment now (no matter who's fault it was).
@wrestlemania4lyf not by a long shot guy, Chris Pennie is one of the best drummers alive today... yes, he's in a fuckin pathetic band, but he is without a doubt one of the most creative, most classically trained, solid drummers alive today. aside from that, he plays like 6 different instruments and has study classically, so that give him the ability to match any certain drum hit to a not from a guitar, bass, or even a vocals. I'm not saying Rymer is bad at all, but Chris Pennie simply is better.
Also, I must admit that if Greg would just shut up all together, and the last minute of this song was less melodic, and more dynamic and choppy (while still staying mellow) I would give this song 4 stars. Again, I can't support this, but I'm just glad that is so much better than Ire Works. And this Billy Rymer guy ain't no Chris Pennie, but I like his style.
@JohnothanK dude, dynamic? Come on man, you seriously believe that this or ire works is more dynamic and has a stronger sense of musicianship than Calculating Infinity? Or even Miss Machine? Don't get me wrong, I believe that Ben and Liam are excellent musicians, but that's the reason why I'm critizicing this! Cuz I know they're capable of something sssooo much better.
And once Chris left, I have no idea what happened! As it is clear that Chris is a fantastic and irreplaceable drummer, it is also clear that their creativity and their thirst for anger dissapeared when he left....
@betterlucknextyear seeing as Ben did the majority of the song writing even when Chris was there, creativity didn't leave with him. And Greg has been the vocalist longer than any other for this band, he is the voice of this band and has really come into his own and surpassed the others, well, Patton is in his own league. I think this album is there best since Calculating... but that's just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions... and yours stinks, Gaaragirl188 is on point.
Then, along came "Calculating Infinity", and it had musicians from all sorts of generes wondering how such a masterpiece was written. Truley, a quintessential mark for Hardcore...
How sad... Let's date back to 2000. Adam Doll was still in the band adding his very cleaverly electronic touch, and Chris, Dimitri, Ben, and Jeff were making what at the time they made best: CHAOS! Then Adam went, but they recruted Brian and Liam and their musicianship stayed intact....
@lolh4x no im talking about the sound the guitar makes at like 1:25 before it slows down. but u can go ahead and bitch bc someone said they dont like part of a song u like anyway if u still want to
@errfury Your post made no sense, considering 2007 was the album before this. If you said another album year it would. Personally I think Ire Works was their only bad album.
This song is fucking amazing! Greg's voice is unbelievable, from 1.53 onwards the song is particularly epic :D But on the whole, one of my favorite songs of the year so far :D
@twitzke83 you have no clue WTF nintendocore is(and just so you know your guess is NOWHERE close:D) so stfu and go listen to some mainstream singles because Dillinger didn't write this song so that you cab put down the first minute and a half, you enjoy it as a whole or you don't.
The first minute or so is more of a taste you have to develop, to me it's as genius as the rest of the song. Just a colossal wave of sound that dwarfs me everytime I hear it.
I never liked this band and I still don't like the first 1:50 of this song but the rest of it is amazing. Take out the nintendo-core crap at the beginning and this is genius. I have to hand it to Liquid Metal on Sirius XM for getting me hooked on this song, I never would have given it a 2nd chance but they play it a lot.
i wish i could listen to bands like this for more than a minute. i respect what they do and the skill that goes into making songs like this but its just too grating on my ears.
@zachcow - Just bulid up a tolerance to it. I got into death metal by listening to a few songs until my ears started hurting. Then stopped, came back and built up a tolerance like that :)
Just don't try and build up a tolerance too fast.
DONT CHOO EVER TRYYYYYY TO BEEEEEEE MORE THAN U WERE DESTINED FOR!!! OR ANYTHING WERE FIGHTING FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hell yeah bitch!!
There's one thing I don't like about this album....every song I listen to feels like it ends too soon. I just want each song to go on forever....its something unreal.
tell ya`ll what..i`am a 54yr old man... and this band blows me the fuck away, every time i see em...been around the block a few times these boy`s huh ?
This song blew me the fuck away when I first heard it some months ago. The whole album is just totally insane! I can't in words describe how awesome it is. It's at least 5 times better than Miss Machine, and that's saying alot.
I changed my mind after a few listens (as always): not only the VIDEO, but the SONG itself is almost PERFECT! From the extreme math-core beggining (which is almost as good as my personal favourite in this regard, namely PANASONIC YOUTH) to the EPIC ending. And I don't fucking care if it's simple or complicated, it's played extremely well and it ROCKS!!!
Gunning down Morning Stars in a Tornado with just this song playing on the mix tape is what makes SR3rd fucking awesome.

There's one thing I don't like about this album....every song I listen to feels like it ends too soon. I just want each song to go on forever....its something unreal.

-1 to the uploader for adding lady gaga to the labels. i've seen shitty labels in my days but lady gaga on a DEP video? KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Beautifully chaotic, as any DEP song should be.

At first I didn't like the look of this video, but it got better and better. Some incredibly beautiful shots in there. Nice!

while my favorite DEP song is still SETTING FIRE TO SLEEPING GIANTS, this song is moving up nicely...even thru a couple of the patton tunes.
mobiusstrip01 1 year ago
still pretty much the best song on the album.
not really impressed with the lyrics, but then again, Dillinger's lyrics always were a bit... different :p
TAKE A BOW
YOU DESERVE IT
EAT SHIT
YOU EARNED IT
LIFE WOULD BE
SO MUCH BETTER
IF YOU DID NOT EXIST

This song blew me the fuck away when I first heard it some months ago. The whole album is just totally insane! I can't in words describe how awesome it is. It's at least 5 times better than Miss Machine, and that's saying alot.

I changed my mind after a few listens (as always): not only the VIDEO, but the SONG itself is almost PERFECT! From the extreme math-core beggining (which is almost as good as my personal favourite in this regard, namely PANASONIC YOUTH) to the EPIC ending. And I don't fucking care if it's simple or complicated, it's played extremely well and it ROCKS!!!

im sorry but this video sucks...the song is great though

Making simple beats and riffs look hard to play = classic example of how to get famous with little to offer. I give this band a 3 out of 10 stars.
