This is the most funniest sketch of Martin Luther! No german would have felt insulted by this - in fact there is so much love to the details! Sadly enough, there isnt any good synchronisation of a single montypython-movie up til now!

The real Martin Luther was a rabid antisemitist who wrote a book called "On the Jews and their lies" (Von den Juden und ihren Lügen) where he argues that Jewish homes should be burned down, Jewish property should be confiscated, Jews should be banned from teaching Judaism on the threat of execution, etc.
Luther's book is a veritable manuscript for the Holocaust centuries before Hitler and the Nazis.
I'm glad they cut it out in the end... It's a decent sketch it just wouldn't have flowed enough as well as Every sperm is sacred and the protestant yorkshire family
"ive gotta go to the bathroom"... read somewhere that the segment was cut after test screenings.. and it does sit rather odd there if you watch the film..
why oh luther why was this scene cut from the film? it's possibly by far one of the best and yeh, i agree with edwingarth there, i read this what 20 years ago? and fell off chairs... why was it not in? was it too jewish EVEN for hollywood? me wonders.. and always will.. hey, we await the redux version with anticipation ;) moi x
@kissmewhereyoucan76 Luther cut himself off from the Church when he tried to redefine the meaning of Sacred Text, and challenged Christ in His decision of naming Peter, and those who filled the position of Pope. Catholics respect sex, and the works and blessings associated, but we won't take it out of the Sacred context God meant it for. If someone claims to be Catholic and does the previously mentioned action, then they are only Catholic in name. Thank you for your time. :)
@Bladepaw18 Ridiculous! Religious persons of all descriptions are shagging and boinking and humping all the time all over the world. This idea that religion stops people from having sex outside of marriage is stupid and the entire concept of religious morality is embarrassingly flimsy.
@squanto2 Do you have to be so crude? Religion does not stop people from having sex, I understand that. It is the personal responsibility of the person who took the vows to keep the vow of celibacy. And btw, marriage is a separate vocation, so get your facts straight next time before you start toting yourself around as a big-wig on religious concepts. Morality, whether connected to a particular doctrine, or not, still comes from God, the source of all wisdom. Therefore, it cannot be flimsy.
The tradition of sexual repression in religion is thought to come from the shift from infanticidal mode of child rearing, to the abandoning mode, which Jesus himself served as a symbol of.
Children were palmed off on the churches, where the priests molested them, and then projected their own shame onto their victims.
All those bishops and popes and such are walking around with serpent staffs. It's pretty clear that the church was being used to promote the agenda of the mystery cults.
The church was controlling and limiting religious thought by controlling the bible, Martin luther thought that everyone had a right to read the bible, I think that's why they were referring to when they mentioned the "reassessment of the role of the individual in Christian belief".
Thanks for this. I bought the book of the film about 12 years ago and it included the script for this scene, but this is the first time I've been able to see it. It's even weirder than I imagined!
