Times have changed.. MacSensei said Apple will probably not do anything with PDF functionality.. That's how things change in IT industry overnight - with the introduction of iPad.
I'm not a teacher but I have hundreds of PDFs that I have been trying to organize in a way that made them easy to find. Thanks so much for this free solution!
Glad you liked this tutorial. However, I am not sure that iTunes is still allowing PDFs. Furthermore, as one comment mentioned, PAPERS is an excellent app for handling PDFs.
Great tutorial. But instead of (or better in addition to) smart playlists I'd recommend a seperate iTunes library for pdf files. Just option-click on the iTunes Dock icon and you can create a new iTunes library or choose which one to open. With this method your "Music" playlist doesn't get cluttered with pdfs.
I HAVE A QUESTION
Do all the pdfs have to be in the same folder in my computer drive? Cheers

Thanks for the update but I don't use a MAC. Just Linux and Windows OS's.

There is a new program, Papers, which is free which I think might be a better replacement for this idea. It is great for grad students or professors.
