It's not dumb, muslimqueen, it's historically accurate. Pocahontas didn't marry John Smith (in fact, she wasn't even romantically involved with him, but that's another story), she did, in fact, marry John Rolfe.

Kudos to Disney for trying to make things slightly more accurate, even if I didn't like the movie :P
