  • Where can I purchase this show. I can't seem to find it anywhere. Sigh....

  • I heard Mulan was a fairytale and not real history, there's no prove she ever even existed. .

  • @strongbadassman they never really found out if they did. All they found was documents/ poems mentioning her. So she's basically only a legend

  • Why is this called Warrior Women: Mulan? I get that the Disney movie is kind of based on her, but otherwise there's no relevance. Why not call it Warrior Women: Wang Cong'er? That's what this episode is (deservedly) about.

  • @TheNerdyCanuck Basically because most people don't know who Wang Cong'er is, but pretty much everyone knows Mulan thanks to Disney and movies, so it would generate more viewers with that title.

  • God, I adore Lucy Lawless. Though I never liked the ''Xena'' series, she shines really in fighting roles. ^^

  • when she was 7 she started traveling...what happened to her mother?

  • Let's get down to business, to defeat the Huns!

  • Dammit Disney fucked up another great story once again.

  • @Amzezk I KNOW!! DISNEY IS PISSING ME THE FUCK OFF!! THEY FUCKED POCAHONTOS TOO HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO THAT!!

  • @Lunabeam1 Here's to Jone of arc.

  • what the young woman says regarding martial arts at the end is very true. being an american living in asia, i can see how deep the contrasts are between the asian and american conceptualizations of what the martial arts are and should be.

  • @defiantwon33 There is more to "martial arts" than just fighting, right?

  • @socal1982

    damn skippy. (that means "yes")

  • Mulan was based on a possible female warrior in the Northern Wei dynasty which was 1500 years ago

  • I don`t think Mulan was real, but but it is nice to believe. But how would she get away with the bound feet, and the boobs ?

  • @MsLiew1901 Well, I not all chinese had bound feet - farmer families probably can't afford to do that. And boobs... what boobs? :D

  • @vk45de Well, actually they did do that so that she marries into a rich family. So unless she was a foreigner or a Manchu, she would probably have bound feet. But maybe she got her mum to skip it.

  • @hihipuffycutiegirl: This is about a woman that has the nickname "the real mulan". She appeard later then the Mulan legend.

  • Did they say this happened 200 years ago?

  • Thank you--very good quality!

  • if i point out in this rather pointless argument, ALL countries have made mistakes, including, in the u.s of a we can't help it were human, and as long as humans exist there will be war, conflicts, disputes, and many many other things, the impotant thing is, is that we try to solve them....or in some cases die trying okay mini rant over back to the history of these incredibly brave and powerful women

  • wang son her was real

  • Hitler wanted to kill all jews, gypises and other people that didn't fit his blond and blue , he even killed mentally ill people and he conquered all europe except britian but the world won't be nazi forever while that may be true millions or billions of people would have tortured and killed its good that allies won even though the allies had their own problems. i rather live in the racist south in the United States than live in a Nazi world

  • This women went from zero to hero.

  • @AmericanWarrior1776 two different disney movies there XD

  • @AmericanWarrior1776 more like zero to GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY WAY BITCH!!

  • Fairy. War is an effective way to gain power. What you are fighting for is irrelevant, because the only important thing is victory. The triumphal parades (we now call them veterans' day, etc.) and medal ceremonies are remindiers of that victory. Note that defeated nations do not have veterans' day. Also, the victors and their descendants are the ones who are celebrated, not the wounded and dead.

The women in the series made the mistakle of not finising their enemies when they had a chance.

  • Fairy. All people who fight think they are fighting for a good cause. In WW2, Japan was fighting for tradition, England for money and power, Germany for ideals, the Soviet Union for communism, China as part of a civil war, and the United States as they got dragged into it by the rest. Every country thought their cause was the right one. On that basis, the side which is right will always be the country that you love - your own country.

Women tend to strike hard and fast, but stop too soon.

  • No. Fighting for the wrong cause and winning is better than fighting for the right cause and losing. Germany and Japan thought they were fighting for the right cause and lost.

You are correct that most people do not have power. The best way is to grab it when you have a chance. In Joan of Arc's case, she made a big mistake. She should have grabbed the French crown and let the French army to total victory against the English. The Scots would have helped her.

  • The Scots, and everyone else, were smart to stay out of England and France's 100 year long blood feud. Which is really what killed Joan of Arc anyway. It wasn't religion (might I remind you she's now a Saint), it wasn't the law (she had the King on her side). No what killed Joan was politics, the English lust for revenge. A man in the same position would have been killed too.

  • peace. The English are sick. They have always had a lust for revenge. That is why they always win. Other people are no vengeful like the rotten English. Take WW2 for example. The English wanted to kill all the Germans. The Soviets wanted show trials. The Americans wanted justice. We had the Nuremberg trials only because of the US. At least there was some semblance of justice. Imagine if England had been the sole victor. There would be no Germans alive today. These monsters are sick as.

  • Whoa! If what I learned in History is correct it was the Germans wanting to kill the Jews. The English were just defending themselves. Not that the English haven't done some nasty stuff, but they'd hardly be unique in that regard. In the Hundred Years War the French were just as bad. It's wars that are sick, not the English.

  • @peacecanhappen27 that said, there are still a LOT of problems in the world :(

  • @hussula4 , no one said there weren't.

@FairyPirateQueen, they are awesome girls who stood up for their people, whom history has mostly forgotten until now.

  • FairyPirateQueen. Amybe women can learn from men. What is important is not fighting for fair treatment, but for power and glory. Women have the brains and the capablility. In many areas, they are superior to men. Men have come up with great systems to seize control and power, start dynasties and gain victory of their enemies. That is what is important - not acting like a victim, but like a conqueror. Women need to be more ruthless.Having power is only a problem for those who don't have it.

  • FairyPirateQueen. I was trying to pay attention. Most of the women were either executed or commited suicide. Men who ae warriors come home as great victors, have triumphal marches and gain crowns, medals and booty.

  • Power, money, and recognition are stupid things to fight for. People should fight for something real, like their families and their freedom. These women did just that, and whether they one in the end or not, they should be honored for that reason alone.

  • Great series. However, it shows that women should never command. They always seem to lose.

  • i always liked the movie Mulan made by Disney and i really love this documentaries and its so sad to hear that she died at the young age of 22 !!!

  • This is not the Mulan from the movie.

  • @Huganis She'd still make a man out of you though.

    XD

  • @megadeath45 True that, true that.

  • they should do one on Xena lol (joke) if only

  • they really dont know if mulan was real or not.

they found a poem with her in it but dont have enough evidence that tells if she was real or not.

  • Yea... most of this "history" is complete and utter speculation...

  • @hihipuffycutiegirl that'd be so cool if she was real though.=Di think she was pretty amazing.

  • @hihipuffycutiegirl

Mulan may or may not have been real, but Qin Liangyu was real and she was one of the highest ranking female generals in Chinese history. She was a Hmong/Miao and is still revered today in China by Chinese and Hmong alike, at least for those in the know. Google her name...

  • And to confirm what I said, Qin Liangyu lead defense of the Ming dynasty against the Jurchens, a northern nomadic tribe (they founded the Jin dynasty, and later their descendents renamed themselves Manchu and founded the Ch'ing/Qing dynasty --- China's last dynasty).

She was given the title 太子太保, which was very high and translates into "Crown Prince Grand Guardian", or basically Grand Guardian of the Crown Prince. Think about it... a woman who rose to this rank and protected the crown prince!

  • @hihipuffycutiegirl

but a poem in china can be extensively long

  • I just loved it, I found myself lost into the story ! Lucy is really amazing <3

  • how is hongli corrupted?
