unfortunately, not all undocumented students will be granted such "benefits" entitled to this act. only the qualified students will. and it's very ironical that many u.s. companies are eager to hire people from abroad and still many colleges eager to have bright international students, while not-so-many qualified, young undocumented students (only a few % out of whole illegal immig. population) have to be rejected because of americans' fear of competition.

Even due to high unemployment rates, Would there be enough legal labor force to replace all undocumented workers in undesirable work positions by most Americans? Luckily for me I don't live in California , Arizona, Texas, Nevada, New Mexico. Where emergency rooms have been bankrupted schools are over burdened by immigrant's children and wages are driven down by immigrants who are willing to live in storage shed and work for a third what legal citizens will. This is changing the nature of my country in a way that I and most americans don't want it changed.

I would tell illegals that on January 1st they can sue their employers who have employed them after January 1st that they can sue them if they don't give them all of the benefits that legal citizens are entitled to. Then give employees with questionable social security numbers 60 days to resolve the problem. Fire them if they can't. Retroactively repeal the 14th amendment. Problem solved.

I don't understand why people are against this act. It's for STUDENTS only. Students are the future and should continue their education. Who are we to say people should not further their education? More educated people = world peace, technology, cures to diseases, world change! Please allow illegal students to further their education! Most of these kids were raised American. I speak for one of my closest friends- Nancy, who does not even speak Spanish and was brought from Mexico @ 9months old!

The DREAM Act is a legislation based on Earned Legalization. Once enacted it will not give automatic citizenship to these students, but a chance to earn it. The requirements are very clear in that these students will be given temporal residency until finishing two years in college or serving in the military. Once this requirement is completed they will become only legal residents and can't submit a petition for other family members.

Citizenship is an abstract legal concept that can be modified to include currently undocumented workers and young students.

To argue that illegal aliens are illegal is a circular argument based on the assumption that laws and legal concepts are absolutes.

Nothing in law can be reasonably considered absolute, including citizenship. Instead the focus should be on the impact legalizing currently undocumented workers would have on society.
