  • Tujunga Wash and Jerry Goldsmith..... will you re-lease an HD version?

  • Wasn't that space observatory not also used at the very begin of Terminator 1 movie? Anyway, a very nice compilation of movie locations you made!

  • you forgot to add that a scene from Transformers when Barricade tries to interrogate Sam is also at the 10/110 interchange

  • Ah, The Final Game by Jerry Goldsmith.

  • What music is that?

  • The last boy scout was Qualcomm stadium in san diego where the chargers play... you FAIL!

  • I love L.A

    Visit but don't stay

We already got enough yuppies from other cities coming to ours clogging up the freeways.

  • They filmed Pulp Fiction and Tokyo Drift a few blocks away from my house here in L.A

  • I have been putting together a set of movies with LA, from as far back as movies have been shot here.....glad to meet another with that interest.....great job. Great Hollywoody music.....

  • Excellent, excellent, excellent. More please!

  • love the music.video good too.(great)

  • Love this vid, on my fav list.

One small error at 2:23...The Last Boy Scout is not at the LA Coleseum, it looks like Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

  • I want to go back to LA SOOOOO BAD this video makes me yearn for LA LA LAND!

  • And its just a sampling!!

  • that was awsome! I lived in south LA in the past and i was there too see the filming of speed....i actually lived 2 blocks away from the intersection of 105 and 110

  • RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDY

  • I thought this very creative and very well done =)

  • Pleeeease upload a high quality version of this!

  • Saw this on CNN pretty cool.

  • seeing it ..you mean

  • no, he actually sawed it with a hacksaw on top of the actual cable news network, but it wasn't very warm when he did, just moderately cold. a cold that he felt was attractive for some reason...

  • Im a huge sucker for nostalgia and pop culture and I have to say I loved this...even though you put in some stinkers ie Day after tommorow,Last Boyscout and Speed.

  • Also, huh! I THOUGHT the scene in "Magnolia" looked familiar. I've gotten drunk at the Foxfire Room frequently. Congrats again.

  • Awesome. When I was in the Fox Plaza Building a couple years ago, I asked if I could go up to the higher floors to see the view John McClane would've had as he dropped the dead body onto the cop car. They said no. Still... it's a thrill to be inside the building looking out. And of course I've checked out the Bradbury Building downtown, but there are so many cool locations around town I've got to go to now. Good work, man.

  • Great use of Google Earth, really nice video.

  • I wanna go to L.A!!!I love your movies!!

  • I am VERY impressed...thank you for this awesome, informative look into the locations of LA! THANKS VERY much! VERY COOL!

  • MS 2002 Göteborg --- Slovak Gold Winer in Ice Hockey 2.July

  • czech,slovak,polis language ?

je tu niekto?,je tadi nekdo?,ma tutaj kogos?

  • czech,slovak,polish ?

  • Wow!

  • i wanted to congratulate you on your fine work.but i also would like to know why you didn't put the watts area from menace II society,w.g. grape street.

  • I live right by there so i don't need to watch it in a video ;)

  • hey what song did you use for this masterpiece my good friend?

  • I think this song is from the "Rudy" Movie Soundtrack.

  • Great idea and good job!

  • that is simply amazing to watch

  • was the river basin also used for The Transformers?/???

  • Yes it was, so was the Griffith Observatory and a few other locations featured in this vid.

  • My childhood dream of seeing E.T's earth home came true when I visited L.A

  • the was great

    thank you!

  • Brilliant!

  • Great video, my favorite movie "Patch of Blue" was filmed entirely at Macarthur Park in L.A.

  • You forgot Dodger Stadium. There was an scene from The Core in which the space shuttle glides over the stadium. There was another The Core scene where the shuttle crash-lands in the LA River Basin.

  • You forgot Long Beach!

  • This is amazing. Made me love LA and the movies that use it so well all over again. So very glad you got Chinatown in there! ;) The way the black and white photos fade into the films is perfect. Well done.

  • Two important Movies missing:

    1. Menace II Society = Watts

    2. Gone in 60 seconds =

  • HorseSNATCHER: Indeed, movies, like specifically Heat, are practically a giant tour of the entire metropolitan area of Los Angeles itself.

  • Just watched The Simpsons S18 E18 again. And it proofed that the guys who make the music into the Simpsons are great. You stole it, Blaire. ;)

  • I am both thrilled and heartbroken to see my beloved Rialto Theater opening this excellent compilation. The Rialto was just shut down after 80 years because Landmark can't make enough money off it. Apparently the theater is slated for "respectful" redevelopment, which seems usually means keeping the facade and putting small, expensive condos and boutique shops inside.

  • thegreatyoda: That's very sad news indeed about the Rialto. It was a one-of-a-kind classic movie house and always a treat to watch cinema there.

  • him doing a school project that compares LA way of growth with NYC way and i´m trying to do that using scenes from movies. my question is if y could use some parts of your video in my work?

  • RicardoPedrosoLima: Sure feel free.

  • I LOVE LA

  • NOW THAT WAS FUKIN UNBELIEVABLE! i saved it and forwarded to everyone i know! see, something that makes me cry like a little bitch and is soooo good and awesome and talentedly put together, like what u guys pulled off (perfect sound/image setup by the way--especially the ET slow down) only gets 22k hits while a moron hot blonde pulls in a mill for reading the iphone bill...ill never understand how that happens...anyway, AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME

  • warz65: Don't worry there are plenty of people who appreciated this video and contacted me to express their love for it. Thanks for the kind words!

  • im so lucky to live in los angeles!!

  • I too saw this film this morning on CNN. Great job!

  • Awesome video. Just saw it on CNN. Had to favorite it.

Umm, guess that's the end of my rather pedestrian comment. ^_^

  • The best place for me is the street from ET.

Must be great to have a house in that quiet corner.

But I bet it isn't so quiet and empty like in the 80s anymore.

  • well, after watching the video all I can say is: I wanna come back to Los Angeles... Excellent video.

  • Excellent

  • Amazing video and a really great choice of music. We visited LA in 1999 an this video makes me feel bad about us only checking out the usual tourist attractions. I definitely have to visit you guys again. I need someone to show me all the places then. ;)

  • i'm tired of transplants from other cities coming to ours...using it, then complaining about the place....I love LA.

  • We truly are a city of landmarks!!!

  • OMG...AMAZING!

  • Repo Man

  • i'm glad i'm from los angeles!!!!!!!!

  • Great video. What are you going to do next?

  • I also saw your bit on CNN. I enjoyed watching your video. I hope to see more from you.

  • Hey I saw you guys on CNN! good job

  • Wow, very nice video. Thanks for posting.

  • i have to say, this is probably the best video i've seen on youtube before. i don't know if someone did this in their own free time on their own money or not, but either way, it's highly recommendable. i'm just hoping there's others like this video. i actually wanted to watch a movie after seeing this.

  • Fantastic!

  • Pretty cool video.

They should have added on there the community of Highland Park which has been the setting of many movies like Resevoir Dogs, Rockstar, Mi Vida Loca and Crash.

  • I Agree, Not To Mention Many Others, And Countless T.V. Shows

  • This is awesome! Thanks for the video! Very creative indeed!

  • I would've appreciated a spoiler warning (Falling Down) but nice work.

  • I think statute of limitations on movie spoilers is ten years.

  • Hah, fair point.

Hey, did you know it was Earth all along?

  • They finally made a monkey out of me!!!!

  • I LOVE YOU, DR ZAIUS!

  • Very creative!

  • very well done, but missed a lot...

Umm for Johnny's resturant. u could have added "american history x" to that,

also for that movie, u could have done, venice high school.

ummm for "last action hero" u could have added the culver city hotel.

I loved the way it ws set up, just thought there was way more places. (maybe a part 2 coming up)????

  • Indeed there were many photos I couldn't include just because it would've gone on forever. Jonnie's Coffee Shop has been used in a lot of films.

I would've loved to grab some locations from Pulp Fiction, but unfortunately most of the iconic locations like the diner are gone. LA has such a rich cinematic history that this movie barely scratches the surface. If I do a part 2 though I might explore another famous California city... San Francisco.

  • Oh yeah...if only for all the great Dirty Harry locations ; )

  • Yeah, Johnie's could have added several minutes of it's own, taking a moment here and there from different films. These days, as I expect you know but a lot of others finding this video might not, it hasn't been open as a diner in five or six years. It's exclusively used for events & filming.

Great video! It's what I love about living here now: you could have easily done hours worth and not caught every place, but this captures the spirit and history of LA in a way that's very entertaining.

  • w00t for BTTF!

  • very nice! the only thing i would have added is more movies to the LA river basin, like grease! and the last action hero, and cut other scenes shorter, like the poltergeist shots. only one or two were needed, not 30 seconds of footage.

  • Very well made but really could've picked more interesting movies. Some were good but by and large I really didn't care about 75% of those locations.

  • It is pulp fiction actually.

  • Nope.

It's the scene in RD, where Roth meets with Holdaway (the black undercover officer) in the restaurant.

  • well done. Better movies and more classics would have made it great

  • Excellent work. You should try selling this to the studios. Very nice job.

  • FANTASTIC!

  • Sorry, but that it Reservoir Dogs. Roth was in both films.

  • At 3:05, the movie is Pulp Fiction, not Reservoir Dogs.

  • You forget the scene in RD, where Roth meets with Holdaway (the black undercover officer) in the restaurant.

  • what is the name of the music in the background...anyone know?

  • it's the one of the tracks from the soundtrack to Rudy. Same guy who wrote the soundtrack to Hoosiers

  • Bravo! Really enjoyed this. Appreciate all the time-consuming edit work. How did you do the zooming to and from earth shots? Looks like you used Google Earth but on a more sophisticated level. I'd give you a job in Hollywood, if you don't already have one...

  • wow Amazing job

  • NICE!!!

this is better den the movies haha

    great video!

  • amazing job! yet, why the hell are the photographs of how they appear today in black and white?!

  • wow, awesome job man!

  • Fantastic job overall! The transitions between cinema and real life, the map zooming, and the "Rudy" score all come together very nicely! :)

  • Amazing work here. From what I've read, the owners of the Poltergeist house are the same from when Poltergeist was made back in 1982! That in itself is amazing.

  • Fascinating. I've lived in L.A for a little over a year and had no idea of 90% of these. I've got a few more day trips to plan now it looks like!

  • This was really well done

  • This is really, really cool. I can't believe how well you matched up the pictures to the actual film frames.

  • Oh, this is about 100 different kinds of awesome. Too many films and locations for one 7 min video! The music's amazing too!

  • These are the kind of videos that I love to see! rated 5.

  • Smoothly done, and nicely chosen for obscurity. I kept on dreading a "hollywood" sign scene, and it never came.

  • Great job! Several awesome movies and i love how it flows from pictures to the actual films. Music is also a great choice...fits very well. :P
