However, I could not understand how Octavia could change that much: in the 2nd season he becomes cold and he treats Octavia terribly.
The real Octavian/Augustus was obssessed with decorum and appropriate familial behavior, and quite frankly a real bastard. He repeatedly forced his daughter to marry political allies (4 in all I believe) and then banished her when she took a lover. He refused to provide for her in his will, so she was starved to death by Tiberius, his successor and her ex-husband after Octavian/Augustus died.
